Unacceptable Customer Service - Rude, Discriminatory Behavior If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the absolute worst customer service experience at Lanier Legacy Golf Club, and it was nothing short of humiliating and infuriating. On March 8th, I booked a 3:00 PM tee time for my wife and her sister. Due to heavy rain, I called the pro shop, and a kind and professional male staff member issued an 18-hole rain check, which I appreciated. However, when I called today to use that rain check, I was met with the most unprofessional, rude, and outright hostile treatment from a staff member named Leah Stephenson (spelling may be incorrect). From the moment she picked up the phone, she was aggressive, dismissive, and condescending. She: Constantly interrupted me while I was speaking. Raised her voice at me for absolutely no reason. Refused to listen or assist me properly and instead transferred my call without helping. Treated me with an attitude that felt blatantly discriminatory. It's truly disgusting that a golf course with such a good reputation allows this kind of horrible customer service to take place. I couldn't help but feel that I was treated this way because I am Asian and an international guest. This was my first experience with this level of rudeness and discrimination since moving to Atlanta, and I am still in shock that a business like this allows such behavior to continue unchecked. If Lanier Legacy Golf Club actually cares about its reputation, they need to: Implement serious customer service training so this NEVER happens again. Ensure all guests--regardless of nationality--are treated with basic human decency. I will make sure that everyone I know hears about this disgraceful experience. I will also be reporting this incident to management and any relevant authorities to ensure this club is held accountable for discriminatory and unprofessional practices. I don't know how many people use yelp to find a golf course but Lanier Islands Legacy golf course is definitely one of the best courses in GA. I absolutely love this course. The quality of the course, staff, practice facility, carts, food is A1. First off, I ain't gonna lie it's expensive! But good news is you do get range balls with your greens fees and unlimited snacks/ soft drinks!!!(my favorite). Yes I said unlimited. I'm sure if you go in there and fill bags up with stuff they might say something but you get it. Second off, driving range and putting green = phenomenal. Third off and most important , the course..... is so beautiful. I'm a serious golfer (4 handicap) so my feelings might be different than others. The actual layout of the course is pretty difficult but the scenery is grand. In order to score great on this course you do have to play smart and have a strategy. I suggest to pay attention to everything before swinging! Keep in mind the greens are FAST. Last suggestion, if you're not the best golfer bring lots of balls because there is a ton of water on this course and get some practice in before hand! If you truly play the course a lot of shots will require you to get the ball in the air. Fourth. Besides the snacks and the absolutely beautiful golf course, I LOVE the way they start you out. Basically most courses just give you the keys to the cart and tell you to get. Here, the first hole is a distance away from the clubhouse so when the starter feels as if the tee box is cleared he will explain the course / rules with your group, give you the keys to the cart, and tell you to get on with it. And I absolutely loveeeeee that. It allows your group to be at the tee box without anyone causing distractions.Love it!!! Last time we were out here the course was quite backed up. The Marshall was constantly trying to get the people in front of us moving and he kept stopping by to apologize to us. The quality of service at Lanier is awesome. They truly make you feel special and that's why I love going back and throwing my money at them. This is by far my favorite course I've ever played at in GA and other states. My little brother lives nearby in Dawsonville and took me to Lanier Lakes Legacy GC. Thank you Matt! Extremely gorgeous course. The entire area is nice and cooler than the oven here in North Texas. Well maintained course. Beautiful tall trees and thick brush on many holes. Bring a lot of balls and not expensive ones unless you don't care. I lost 6 Pro V's and only played 9, next time I'll know. Forget about your score, the balls lost and enjoy the scenery! The course provided sandwiches, water bottles, and snacks. Beer is purchasable and a cart girl came by to ease the high scores with beer or softer drinks. I loved it and give it 5 stars. Unfortunately I had to come home. read more

Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course has quickly become my favorite public golf course in metro Atlanta. This course is a true gem. After playing many of the Atlanta area's courses over the years, this one stands out in terms of layout and scenic views. Many of the course's holes play directly alongside Lake Lanier (five on the front nine, five on the back; ten total) with some of the others still having nice lake views. Many courses have "lakes" and ponds, but Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course is situated within a big, true lake. A lot of golf courses have one or two signature holes. At Lanier Islands, almost every hole feels like a signature hole. That's how beautiful this course is. Most of the holes on this course could easily qualify as the signature hole at many Atlanta public courses. It's that good. Now, you must be thinking for a course of this caliber, it must be expensive, but it's not. The last two weekends, in the mornings, my buddies and I have been able to play this course for about $60 or $70 per person. Those prices included carts, range balls, food and drink at the clubhouse, and entry into the Lanier Islands resort ($15 is the regular gate fee if I recall correctly). What a deal. Among public courses in metro Atlanta, this kind of value is unmatched. Value definitely plays a large role in my ratings when I review courses. I've found it's best to book through the course directly (online or call) for the lowest rate. That said, this is not a high-end golf resort or PGA-Tour-level course like Pebble Beach, Harbour Town, or Sawgrass. That should be pretty evident from the pricing. It's still a resort course though so you do get to enjoy resort-like amenities, namely, the food and drink inside the clubhouse. However, the clubhouse itself is small. The golf shop is tiny and its setup is awkward. Merchandise is tightly-fitted around the check-in counter and the golf staff's offices. I'm going to guess those spaces weren't originally intended for retail displays. Fortunately, the clubhouse has it where it counts -- the "dining room" and "grill." I put those in quotes because it's not a formal dining room per se and there's not actually a kitchen or grill unless you count the hot dog roller grill, but it's stocked with plenty of food, drink, and seating. They've got bagels, breakfast bars (and the like), and sausage, egg and cheese biscuits for breakfast; assorted Blimpie sandwiches (pimento cheese, egg salad, club, roast beef, etc.), hot dogs, and chips for lunch; coffee, fountain drinks (Coke products), bottled water and fruit juices, and more. Outside the rear entrance of the clubhouse is an ice maker where you can fill up your cart's attached cooler. The room has several TVs if you want to relax and watch some sports after your round. One thing the course should offer is an air gun to clean your golf shoes. The course has a modestly-sized practice facility. The driving range has only eight grass hitting stations. The pyramids of yellow Wilson Staff Limited Range balls are average quality at best and are probably due for replacement soon. There's a sloped practice putting green as well as a practice chipping green and bunker. As for the course itself, it's wonderful. Oftentimes, I have to play a course multiple times in order to remember its holes. However, this course is so memorable that I could recall most of the holes from memory after just one round. That's a testament to the course's design and awesome vistas. This is a short but challenging course. It can penalize long hitters. From the tips, the course measures only 6,580 yards with a rating/slope of 72.7/141. Blues: 6,193 yards (71.0/137). Whites: 5,706 yards (68.8/130). Par 72. What makes this course difficult? Narrow fairways, forced carries, tight landing areas, thick rough (the kind that you can easily lose your ball in), well-placed bunkers, and greens with a lot slope. This course really places an emphasis on solid ball striking, accuracy off the tee, and green reading. Therefore, I would not recommend this course for beginners. The difficulty makes it fun though. The greens are big, but tricky. The course conditions have been fantastic, especially for the price paid. I've always had a thing for well-conditioned tee boxes and the tee boxes here have been in pretty good shape save for the occasional smatterings of crab grass. The fairways, bunkers, and greens have been in very good shape with the greens rolling fast and true. One of my playing partners, who's a single-digit handicapper and has played a lot of competitive golf, said the greens were in "tournament" condition when we played this past Sunday. Service has been great. Pace of play has been terrific too. With packed tee sheets, I was able to finish a round in under 4 hours in a twosome and under 4.5 hours in a foursome. This is a beautiful track of land and well maintained not overly crowded and reasonably priced.

The golf course is amazing. The views of the lake are incredible. The staff took care of everything for a 2 day tournament we played with 28 guys. Everyone had a great weekend! read more

I really enjoyed the experience playing here. The course isn't particularly long but it definitely isn't for the faint hearted. There is ample water around as you would expect and at least one third of the holes involve a blind tee shot or one with a severe dog leg. I found the tee shots about as intimidating as any other course I've played this year. The staff at the course were great and a super welcome touch was the provision of complementary blimpies and various non-alcoholic drinks both prior to teeing off and at the turn. Maybe a little steep in terms of the cost relative to some of the other local tracks but still good value for money in my opinion. I'll be back. read more

Losing quality. GPS didn't work and called in. Clubhouse said to play 9 and change it. Got a new one and it didn't work! Needed to rent a golf bag and was charged for a full set. That much money and no break on a bag to rent, really?? read more
