There are three facilities much closer to my house, but I come here because it's the best by comparison. It's not even close. I'm at the range 2-3 times a week, and DV has everything you need to work on your game. Grass, mats, green, sand... they have it. They do a great job with the upkeep, and when you factor in the cost of the buckets (they just got new balls), it's an unbeatable value. If Jim ever decides to expand into club services -- fittings, repair, regrip, etc. -- they would have my business, along with the hundreds of patrons that love this place. read more

I've been going here consistently for about 6 months while my club's range is being repaired. I have to say this driving range is very well run, and I've been more than impressed. First, the choice between mats and real grass is a great one to have. The range is always kept very clean, the balls have always been cleaned, and they even have a few separate chipping and putting areas that are solid as well. There is a gentleman that works there that checks on everyone, keeps the area clean and he is not only personable every time I am there, he does a great job of making sure the facility is spotless. I'd highly encourage any avid golfer that wants to work on his/her game to visit Deer Valley. read more

Very decent driving range close to Dunwoody, off of Holcomb Bridge. One side is usually for mats, the other side is for practice off the ground. There's a small chipping area, one practice bunker, and one practice green. Bucket prices are reasonable. One nice perk is there's an area to store any balls, up to 2 weeks, you haven't hit for the next time you go back. Write your name and date on a slip of paper, put it in the bucket, store the bucket, and voila. read more

Deer Valley was very convenient! Not a golfer myself, we took the golf kiddo to practice his skills. It was very easy to use the ball dispenser and everything was explained nicely inside the building shack. However, the entrance was a little confusing, there were no signs directing yoU were to go. So, as you enter head straight to the yellow building at the end of the parking lot. Everything else is self explanatory. It was a sunny and a bit cold, so the range was pretty empty and we had lots of spots to chose from. We used their selection of free clubs and bought a bucket of 120 balls for $14. Very reasonable. The turf and grass areas were clean and well maintained. It was a nice way to get him some practice. read more

Went this evening. It was super easy to use the vending machine to access the balls. It was just me so I did 50 balls for $10. They have 2 sides 1 with mats, the other without, & a small covered section. The bare side did have a lot of divots & very sandy but that's normal when you have people hitting in the same spots daily. The green practice space is separate & a decent size. They also even had a food truck with hotdogs & lemonade I believe. I didn't try, but definitely will next time! I also loved that the range wasn't close to the street so you don't hear traffic in the background. Enjoyed my time! read more

The folks running Deer Valley put in the work to help serious golfers improve with year round real grass practice areas so someone's a "grass-whisperer" on their tee boxes. There's no substitute for hitting off real grass for practice on long irons and short game. There are also practice mats for folks who want to use them. And very well cared for putting and chipping areas and sand-trap. This is a well run, well-maintained and constantly improving facility worth a drive particularly in the winter when most facilities are "mats-only". And all very competitively priced so good value. One of my friends introduced me to Deer Valley Golf Range. He grew up going to the driving range here. When I saw all the glowing reviews on Yelp, I just knew I had to check this place out. It's too bad Deer Valley isn't closer to my home or my workplace or I'd visit more often. If you want to work on your game or just get out of the house, this is the place to come. This is a humble, low-key, casual, relaxed, and laid-back golf practice facility (there is no actual golf course). There's nothing fancy about it. There is no dress code and the facility is open year-round, 365 days a year, and is lighted at night. You don't have to interact with any employees. There's a Range Servant (automatic range ball dispensing machine) that accepts cash and credit cards. Here was the range ball pricing during our visit: * Small basket - 45 balls - $7.00 ($0.16 per ball) * Medium basket - 75 balls - $10.00 ($0.13 per ball) * Large basket - 105 balls - $13.00 ($0.12 per ball) * Jumbo basket - 180 balls - $20.00 ($0.11 per ball) The range balls are Wilson Staff "Premium Range" balls. The balls we hit were in good condition. The range also offers Wilson Staff demo clubs. I believe you have to interact with a human to get access to one of those. :) One thing that I think is great about Deer Valley is they have free clubs for you to borrow and use at the range. They have men's and ladies' clubs, left and right-handed clubs, and even kids clubs. There are plenty of clubs to choose from. Not surprisingly, the selection isn't the greatest quality (admittedly, some are bottom of the barrel), but for "free," you really can't complain. I think offering these free clubs to borrow is a fantastic way to get someone into the game of golf because sometimes just the cost of renting or buying clubs can be a deterrent for potential new golfers. The driving range is nestled along the Chattahoochee River. A row of mat hitting stations faces north and a row of Bermuda grass hitting stations faces south, so there are actually two ranges which means there are plenty of spots to hit. I'm not sure if they switch up the mat/grass hitting arrangement between the north and south range, but I suspect that they might to keep the grass in good shape year-round. The parking lot, range ball machine, restrooms, cold drinks, and a training/demo shack are in between. There are up to 9 different flags/yardages. The ranges have multiple club cleaning buckets with brushes and towels. I prefer to hit off grass because it's the real thing, but it's good that Deer Valley gives you the option. Mats are more forgiving, but less realistic. During our visit, a lot of the grass on the driving range had been used up pretty good, but I was able to find enough patches of grass to satisfactorily hit all of my balls with no issues. We used the practice bunker and practice putting green too. There's a practice chipping area as well, but we didn't get around to using it. Obviously, you can work on all aspects of your game here. The practice bunker was in OK shape. There was a good amount of sand in the bunker and the sand was fluffy enough. What I like about Deer Valley's practice bunker is there's a deep end and a shallow end so you can practice a variety of bunker shots. There are also little flags around the bunker that you can aim at to make your bunker practice session more productive. Remember to rake the bunker when you're finished! The practice putting green is fairly spacious and is roughly the same size as the practice putting greens you might find at an actual course. It's made of TifEagle ultra dwarf Bermuda grass. It was in great shape when we putted around on it. The green is fairly flat for the most part, but there are undulations here and there to help you practice how to read greens and how to play speed putts. Another thing that I think is neat about Deer Valley Golf Range is, like the game of golf which is a game of honor and integrity, the business expects you to conduct yourself the same way as a customer as you would on the golf course. Cases in point: Cold drinks (sports drinks, water, soda, etc.) and candy bars are available self-serve in a fridge near the range ball machine. To pay, you just put cash into the open cash tray inside the fridge (exact change). If you pay for range balls using cash, exact change is required. If you don't have exact change, there's envelope with change that you can use. Tees are free. All this is on top of the aforementioned free clubs that you can borrow. It's nice for a business to operate like this in this day and age. And if you decide to steal something, well, there are a lot of security cameras around. Refreshments are affordably priced. Examples: $1 for a bottle of Dasani water or a can of Dr. Pepper, $2 for Gatorade, Powerade, or vitaminwater, and $2 for a Snickers bar. I like how they don't price gouge you. This is probably the best, and best bang for the buck, driving range around. Very large range, $20 for a large bucket and they replace the balls reasonably often so you aren't hitting broken/trashy range balls. You can also prepay on a deer valley range card and you get a discount. I haven't taken lessons with Jim, but both he and Chris are extremely polite and friendly. One side is grass and the other is mats (rotated monthly as grass is repaired on one side). Immaculate grass range conditions. Plenty of targets and distance markers no matter where you are hitting from. There are also two large putting greens which you can short distance chip on- also immaculate condition. Plenty of parking which is right up on the "bays" so you don't have to lug your bag m/clubs I go here almost daily now with the exception of days I'm playing 18. HIGHLY recommend. read more

Love Deer Valley range. It's a great open range to practice your game. They have real turf and artificial mat stations. There are easily more than 80 stations which is one my favorite things about this range. It never feels to clustered when it's busy. There's distance markers all throughout the range that extremely accurate and easy to read. Besides their massive driving range they provide a short game practice area that provides sand play as well. That area is also very roomy and not cramp. They also have a massive putting green that is very well taken care. They also have lessons available at this driving range. There are 4 different ball basket sizes. 60 balls for $8 90 balls for $11 120 balls for $14 And 180 for $20. If you are looking for a great range to practice your game and not feel to cramped like at other ranges this is the place. The facility is very well taken care of! read more

This is the best driving range in metro Atlanta and it isn't close. They do a phenomenal job with maintenance. There's always great grass to hit off 365 days a year. They actually over seed with rye grass in the winter. Golf balls are always in great shape. Jim the owner installed a pitching area and great putting green as well. What a great local spot! Holy cow! Do you like golf, no, love it? Are you in need of a solid practice facility to work on all aspects of your game? Then this is the place! Prices are great! Tons of spots to hit from mats or beautiful Bermuda grass. They have tons of yardage markers, always a complaint for me at most other places that don't have enough. They just put in a new putting green by the chipping green. And wow, it's tough, but in a good way. If you can drain putts here, you'll be whooping your friends out in the courses. I agree with all of the other great reviews here about the facility, but it is really the owner and instructor, Jim Cropper - very respectable, and yet approachable, making this place welcoming and outstanding. My husband and I had been looking for a golf instructor for a long time. I reached out to Jim after reading the reviews about the facility - what really prompted me to reach out to him was how he responded to a less than positive review here on yelp, with class, and that's really how Jim is in person. Jim was very accommodating and offered a group class for the two of us only, at a very affordable rate; extremely patient and scheduling is easy and flexible. Beautiful driving range located in Alpharetta/Roswell area. Within the nearby area, this is the best practice facility. I used to be member with club corp clubs, paying good amount each month. The facilities weren't even as good as this one here. Plenty of spaces in between stations, so you don't feel cramped up in here. They offer grass tee and mats section. I was very impressed by the mats here, it is nice. I have been to some clubs where the mats feel more like floor. They open late, so even if you get off work late, can still come here to practice. Going to get lesson by the pro on site today. Looking forward to come here more often. read more

I'm not a golfer, so my view on ranges are not on an expert level. Parking - They have a pretty decently sized lot. We came here on a beautiful Saturday evening and not many folks were there. I can imagine the lot does get full during nice Fall/Spring weather. Perhaps carpool on those days. There are some clubs that folks can use for free. These clubs are average. But.... if you're a real golfer, I'm sure you'll have your own, haha. People like me who are totally clueless about golf would probably use the range's clubs. It's cool that they have a rack of them. There are machines to buy golf balls... normal for a range. Also, there are 3 different areas for golfing. Each side of the parking lot + a small area to putt. Near the grass golfing area, there is a bunker area as well. Very cool to see!! Definitely worth checking out and if you're in the mood to practice. read more
