    Snug Harbor Boats & Co

Five stars for helping a first-time captain get his sea legs…read more I recently bought my first boat from Snug Harbor Boats & Co., and the whole experience was refreshingly smooth. Captain Marc was fantastic--knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful without ever feeling like a salesman. For someone stepping into the boating world for the first time, that kind of guidance makes a huge difference. The process itself was straightforward and surprisingly quick. No unnecessary runaround, no confusing hoops to jump through--just clear communication and a team that knows what they're doing. Another nice bonus is that they've got more than just boat sales. There's a sail shop and an outboard service center attached to the office, which makes it feel like a proper boating hub rather than just a place to sign paperwork and sail off into the sunset. All in all, a great experience for a first-time boat owner. If you're looking to get out on the water and want a crew that actually knows their stuff, Snug Harbor is a solid place to drop anchor. ‍

She is helpful and tries to accommodate the customer. She held the boat for me so that I could secure funds, and when a slight delay came about with the funding at my bank, she reassured me that that all was well and that she would continue to hold the boat until the matter was resolved. I asked about an outboard for the boat and she had me one in no time flat. Snug Harbor serviced the outboard and had it ready for me when I picked up the boat. I cannot recommend Ann and the folks at Snug Harbor Boats, enough! I am glad that I found the boat I wanted and dealt with Ann.

My family and I rented a boat from Young Harris Water Sports over Father's Day weekend in 2025. We…read morehad reserved the boat from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, but we arrived about an hour early. After completing the paperwork, we went down to the dock, and the staff told us the boat was ready. We were able to leave at approximately 1:00 PM. As we pulled away, the young employee at the dock (who appeared to be under 18) said, "We'll see you back at 6 PM." I even commented to my husband that it sounded like we were getting an extra hour with the boat. We enjoyed our afternoon on the lake until around 5:00 PM, when the manager called. I missed the first call but answered the second. Instead of calmly asking about our return time, he immediately spoke to me in a rude and confrontational tone, asking why we hadn't returned the boat and stating it was due back at 5:00 PM. I explained that we had been told to return at 6:00 PM and apologized for the misunderstanding. Rather than acknowledging that there may have been a miscommunication, he insisted that "never happened" and threatened to charge me if we didn't return the boat immediately. As soon as we realized there had been a misunderstanding, we headed straight back to the dock. When we arrived, the manager was standing there with his arms crossed and immediately began accusing us of intentionally keeping the boat out too long. He also mentioned that it was Father's Day and that he was trying to leave work at 5:00 PM. I apologized again and explained that the employee had told us she would see us at 6:00 PM. It was obvious that she had simply overlooked the fact that we left an hour early, so our expected return time should have been adjusted to 5:00 PM. I completely understand that working on Father's Day isn't ideal, and I also understand the importance of returning rental equipment on time. However, this situation was the result of a simple misunderstanding caused by the staff, not by us. There was no reason for the manager to be rude, accusatory, or threatening. A professional conversation would have resolved the issue just as quickly. We've rented from Young Harris Water Sports at least three times in the past and have always enjoyed our experiences, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, because of the way we were treated, we will not be returning. Customer service matters just as much as the equipment you rent, and this experience fell far short of what we expected.

Young Harris Water Sports had staff that used golf carts to do it all for us on both front and back ends of the trip. We rented a Tritoon and a double innertube for pulling behind. All the equipment worked great, boat was in very good shape. We had a fantastic time on a half day rental. Highly recommend YTWS for your boat rental needs on Lake Chatuge!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other customers should know about my experience…read more We hired Lighthouse Marine Solutions to build an upper deck over our dock. Unfortunately, one of the most basic construction principles was overlooked: the upper deck was built with no pitch, causing water to collect underneath the upper deck instead of draining properly. As a result, the trapped water continues to drip directly onto our boat long after it rains and now is damaging the ceiling. To their credit, Josh, the team supervisor, and his crew have been out multiple times trying to resolve the issue. Josh has always been professional and genuinely appeared to want to help. The real disappointment has been the owner, Chris Pfahl. Rather than taking responsibility for what is clearly a construction flaw, Chris has repeatedly defended the workmanship by saying this is the same method they've used successfully for years. Even more frustrating was his latest response, where he stated he was willing to have someone else review the problem, but also suggested that any modification would involve additional costs because the issue wasn't addressed during construction. I had another company review the problem and the repair costs amounted to right at $50k. That statement is difficult to accept because the problem exists precisely because of how the deck/dock was constructed. As the customer, I relied on their expertise to build the dock correctly the first time. I shouldn't be expected to pay extra to correct a design or construction defect that should never have existed. Chris was provided with a rendition (not an architectural drawing) which he being the expert, should have properly designed and constructed the structure. A quality contractor stands behind their work, acknowledges mistakes, and makes things right. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience with Chris Pfahl at Lighthouse Marine Solutions. While I appreciate Josh's efforts, the owner's refusal to accept responsibility has turned what should have been a straightforward warranty issue into an unnecessary and frustrating ordeal. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
