It's a small hidden gem of a park, in my opinion. I have two large dogs, and I like to walk them…read morein different settings for mental stimulation. Lake Chautaqua offers more shade and, if you like, a paved walkway that runs along the road. There are also some well-established paths within the wooded area, which I really like. It tends to be cooler there and gives the dogs plenty to sniff. There are many places to toss your dog's waste, and most people adhere to cleaning up after their pets. A large parking lot toward the beginning of the park has water stations for adults, children, and dogs. There is also an available hose in a small fenced-in area. It's not overly crowded. It is peaceful and you get the feeling you are in nature, although you are surrounded by neighborhoods.

I took my pup and saw others w/theirs - some people do not abide by the leash rule FYI. My shelter dog gets easily scared by other dogs, so that was the only part I didn't like. Trash bags are provided for you to help maintain the trail, so be sure to pickup your dog's poop! This place is beautiful - it was baren despite going on the weekend and gives you a chance to really soak in the beauty. Of course, the oak trees & palms including many other plants/trees I couldn't identify are so pretty. There's a small pond (catch & release) surrounded by overgrown vines and trees & two small bridges. There's a dock that overlooks the lake - I somehow missed it and will def. return to check it out. No restrooms. Paved paths available if you prefer. Parking is plentiful.

This was a mother's day visit- parking was going fast, and the beach was packed. My mom and daughter and I just wanted to walk the island, get some toes wet and in the sand. We enjoyed the water immensely. So much wildlife to see throughout the park. My daughter's first birthday was held in one of the pavilions. Easter picnics with ham-kabobs. Taking the little kids out kayaking the inlet- endless possibilities to explore. Enjoy the park adventure!

This is where you can take those pics. They also have picnic tables. As for swimming, I would say no. So much seaweed and not enough water. I believe it's a combination of the tide and the lack of rain too. The parking here is $6 and you can pay through park mobile. They say no dogs and there are tons of signs. My pup and I stayed in our car while my husband went to check the water. It was a good reminder why we don't go to this beach. Unfortunately, this was the day of the craziness in Clearwater with the teen takeover with all the chaos.

There is also a bathroom, which is really convenient as you don't have to leave the play area or walk very far. It can get pretty busy on the weekends but is quieter during the week. They have multiple swing options, a small playground for younger kids, a larger playground for older kids, and various climbing/play structures. It is completely turf but is surrounded by a concrete walkway- so pretty wheelchair and stroller friendly. It is pretty shaded as well so you aren't being blasted by the sun. I would say this park is more suited to 2+. There are multiple climbing components that are pretty challenging and just require more coordination/strength.

My young boys and I were disappointed to find it had been Renovated for some time now with toxic Turf and plastic/metal playgrounds. Playground felt much smaller this way than when it had been wooden with plank beams running throughout. It is also incredibly packed, but I think that's also because there is a sports complex here and I'm assuming many younger kids are here playing on the playground while older ones play sports. The upside is that it's still a public playground and an outdoor activity for kids. There are bathrooms in the playground area so that's a convenience.
