Cool park but it's geared more towards older children. Maybe 6-7 years old and older. It's nice that it's right by the bay. You can take a walk by the water. There isn't much parking but you can park on the street if the parking lot is full. Nice area will be back again to explore a bit more. read more

R E Olds Park is a large 15 acre waterfront park offering a scenic view of Tampa Bay in the Oldsmar area of Tampa Bay near Westchase. R.E. Olds park is home to numerous events including Oldsmar Days and Nights, Easter Egg Hunt, Celebrate Oldsmar, Halloween Carnival and Christmas Wonderland. Beyond the views and natural surroundings, the park features a large 400 ft. fishing pier, a large 12,000 sq. ft. Friendship Playground for kids with 5 slides, nature trails, an open-air amphitheatre, picnic facilities, restrooms, a dog area, a volleyball court, and plenty of free parking. Overflow parking is available on the grass for big concerts. R E Olds Park is named after Ransom Eli Olds, who lived from June 3, 1864 - August 26, 1950 and was a pioneer of the American automotive industry, after whom the Oldsmobile and REO brands were named. He built his first steam car as early as 1887 and his first gasoline-powered car in 1896. By 1901 Olds had built 11 prototype vehicles, including at least one of each power mode: steam, electricity and gasoline. In 1934, he received a patent for a diesel engine. He was the only American automotive pioneer to produce and sell at least one of each mode of automobile. He founded the Olds Motor Vehicle Company in Lansing, Michigan, on August 21, 1897. The modern assembly line and its basic concept is credited to Olds, who used it to build the first mass-produced automobile, the Oldsmobile Curved Dash, beginning in 1901. The Olds Motor Works was bought by General Motors in 1908. The amphitheater at R.E. Olds park plays host to many concerts, contests, and recitals each year and is one of the most prominent features in the park. Its official name is the Elizabeth J. Smith Amphitheater. We came for a friend's child's piano recital held by the Westchase Music School. There were children performing on piano, violin, flute, saxophone, guitar, and even singing. There was ample room on the field in front of the amphitheater for groups and families to socially distance and enjoy the musical performances with a nice backdrop of the water. The kids really enjoyed the 5 big slides at the big playground area. The kids also enjoyed a shaker platform, swings, and 2 other playgrounds. Patrons can reserve a covered picnic areas which are good for large get-togethers and parties. If you're in the area and in the mood for a safe open air concert or looking for a huge playground your kids will love, I highly recommend checking out this park! read more

We don't go here often but easily can spend so many hours at this park. We usually cap it at 2.5-3 hrs but it could be much a longer adventure. It's 30+ mins away from us, but it has 3 playgrounds, a pier, beautiful views of the Bay, and a paved trail. Lots of birds, fish, and other water critters can be seen. Only 1 of the 3 playgrounds is well shaded. The larger playground has some shade. There's also some other scattered play areas that are shaded. There are ample picnic areas and trees for shade. There are many sets of swings. The pier is fun but some spots are closed for construction. It hasn't been overly busy the 2 times that we've visited. I'm knocking off 1 start because there doesn't seem to be any water fountains or stations. There is a bathroom also. read more

R. E. Olds Park is one of my favorite nature spots around the Tampa Bay area, and it happens to be located on the northern end of Tampa Bay in the nearby community of Oldsmar. In case you didn't know, R. E. Olds is the man who founded the Oldsmobile auto empire, and the town of Oldsmar (named after him) was his winter home. His buddies Henry Ford and Thomas Edison had their winter homes south of here in Ft. Myers, but Mr. Olds decided to settle in the area between Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties on the northern edge of the bay. The Oldsmar Public Library has a fascinating display about Mr. Olds life and his family's impact on this area. You'll find R. E. Olds park along Shore Drive with the main parking lot at the intersection of Bayview Boulevard. I suggest that you park your car and then get out to walk along the edge of the water. There's a walking trail / boardwalk which will take you along the edge of the water, and out to the fishing pier. You'll also see several kids playgrounds, volleyball courts, a very clean public restroom, and a big band shell / grandstand for outdoor concerts and special events. During the day the park is a quiet place for people to walk their dogs and just enjoy the scenery, but after school you'll see a lot of kids running and playing in the bounce house or the swing sets or jungle gyms. On the weekends the town of Oldsmar often has some type of festival with live music and food vendors, and the park will fill up quickly with people from the surrounding neighborhoods. The City of Oldsmar keeps this place in impeccable shape, and the residents are very good about cleaning up after their dogs, and leaving trash in the big receptacles. After you've walked around the park, I suggest hopping in your car and driving along Shore Drive. One end is near Jack Willie's Tiki Bar, and the other end winds around through some spectacular custom-built homes on the edge of the water. R. E. Olds Park is a fun place to explore, and one of those hidden gems in the Tampa Bay area. read more

This was a huge hit with my preschooler! 3 different play areas A very long pier Lots of shade and a great breeze Lots of sidewalk for walking or biking 3 areas to park in Lots of open space We were there on a Saturday in the early afternoon. It was busy but not crowded because of all the space. For parents at the main playground, I would suggest bringing lawn chairs like I saw some parents with because there weren't many benches that way. This is a perfect place for a picnic which is our plan for next time along with watching the sunset on the pier. read more

One of our favorite parks in the Bay... we stumbled upon this park by accident when we attended the annual Snowfest event. It is a well cared for park with beautiful views and a range of options for kids to play on. I love that they have a wooden play area and a handicap accessible larger play area as well as areas specifically for toddlers. The people who frequent the park are great and the neighborhood is nice. Parking can sometimes be a hassle but street parking is available. This is a great park for young and old people alike! read more

This is the best park in Oldsmar, in my humble opinion. It has a HUGE playground, a gorgeous boardwalk, many shaded trees to stand under when it's hot outside, and a large clearing with a stage for local events. If you've got your walking shoes on, there's another beautiful park right next to it that's a little quieter. Having this park so close to home has been great for our family, and we all enjoy our visits here. read more

Just found this gem---great playground on the water. There are a few playgrounds, a wooden one, a small one and a big one with super high fun slides. There are a few swing sets here too. Bring a blanket to sit on because there are hardly any benches or tables close to the playground. Parking is slim too, but you can park near the pier (where I saw dolphins today) and walk to the playgrounds. Restrooms are nearby and a couple small shelters too if you wanted to hold an event here. read more

Being home on maternity leave with a 2 month old who is on a strict schedule, sort of limits the places you can go. I do like to get out of the house at least once a day, especially since the weather is perfect. I had remembered that Steve E and Lindsey S had reviewed this park. Sadly I did not have a clue where it was located. The other day, Miss Elliot and I went to check it out. Located on the water, this sprawling park area had a very long side walk, which was perfect for walking with my stroller. There were several playground and picnic areas too. It was extremely quiet, and I could see myself escaping here to enjoy the water view and some peace and quiet. Adjacent to this park, is a war memorial park. It too is on the water and has a sidewalk they attaches to R E Olds park. If you're in the area and want to enjoy a great walking path or playground, check it out. read more

This park is located right on the water in Oldsmar. The park is clean, grass is well manicured, flower beds kept up to date, and play area ms are clean and well kept as well. Basket ball court is well taken care of as well. There are many shows, concerts, celebration and so on at this park. However it's nice to just go on a gorgeous day and relax and watch the water and clouds. It's pretty quiet in the afternoons and evenings. Nice place for a date night, picnic or some alone time. What a beautiful park! Located on the northeast shore of Safety Harbor, it is large, spotlessly clean, has plenty of shade, benches and a great playground area for the kids. Perfect for a visit during the day, or to watch the sunset in the evening. Very nice! read more

We traveled about an hour to get here. It honestly could've been a little better. It seemed to be in a low lying spot in a few areas where the playgrounds were and that made it not accessible for the kids to use the playgrounds meant for their age. If the weather has been nice for the month, I'm sure this would be a much better trip. There are quite a few different "levels" of playground and even a cool wooden one. If you're taking your little kids, be sure to keep them away from the extremely fun looking 90 Degree drop slide on the far end of the park, lol. It looks like a great place for outdoor gatherings as well, just be aware of the many many any piles that are in the field. So, for my review, I choose 3 Stars. If this place were better maintained, it would be awesome. read more

It has a nice soft sand volleyball area and a good sized kid's playground, a very cool pier and benches (which does need a new paint job), a gorgeous boardwalk, many shaded trees to stand under when it's hot outside (as most days in the FLA LOL), and a Amphitheater for local events. After recently relocating to the area from out of state, My family and I decided to explore the area. This park was one of the first places we went to after discovering the spray park and recreational centers, and man, do we love this park! This park is perfect for the entire family. You can even bring your dogs and enjoy a few open fields for them to play in or do their business :) there are a few options for children with the playgrounds. One is 3 stories high with the coolest slides and beautiful structures! There's also a walking path with different things to do at each dead end (swing, activity play set, carousel, etc.) Next there is a little kid play ground that's under shade trees (great for the little ones) there are concrete walking paths everywhere and an amazing view of Safety Harbor! There are restrooms and a beautiful pier! Also they have an amphitheater that's beautifully painted! I highly recommend taking the family there or even just visiting yourself! Watch out for the squirrels though they're very friendly!! read more

I go here pretty much daily while walking my dog. There's something for everyone whether it is a walk on the boardwalk, sand volleyball or kid's playground. A lot of events are held here since there's a stage setup. It does get pretty crowded during those events. City of Oldsmar is great about keeping this park clean. Really nice park with outstanding bay views. If you have children, you will love the fact that there are two large playgrounds. There is also an area to play beach volleyball and some picnic tables if you are interested in having lunch there on a nice day. There is also a cool pier and benches on the pier where I can only imagine you watch some amazing sunsets. TThe park is tucked in a quiet residential area so it could be easily missed if you don't live in the area. There is a sign by the pier that says Manatees frequent the waters surrounding the park, which I think is pretty cool. read more

This is a great park!! There are lots of open spaces for the kids to run and the playground equipment is well maintained. Parking is a bit sparse if you arrive later in the day but it's well worth finding a place on the street. The pier is a must visit, the kids love going out and looking at wildlife. read more
