One of the many walking paths in A.L. Anderson Park!
    Andie S.

We've lived in this area for over a year, and had no idea this park even existed. What a gem! A.L. Anderson park is beautiful, secluded and spacious. Even during peak hours on weekend days, you're likely to find a private spot in one of their several pavilions, porch swings, or picnic tables. This family friendly park has nine shaded pavilions with grills, a huge dog park, nature trails, a playground, boat ramps, a kayak launch, fishing, and several restrooms. It's the perfect place to get your steps in, take family photos, enjoy a nice picnic, or watch the sunset. I'm glad we finally discovered this little treasure, and cannot wait to come back!

This is a clean and relatively spacious park. It's just not a good place to see wildlife. We went first thing in the morning to maximize our chances of seeing birds and/or critters but none were to be found. We walked around the entire park and enjoyed the walk. There are multiple picnic areas that probably require reservations. We did see some beautiful azaleas so at least the flowers were pretty. Life is good with a hike in nature!

My quest to discover new places to take my pups continues. After finding this on Yelp (of course) we decided to check it out as it is just up the road. I am so glad we did. This being the girls first visit to the Dog Park area, they did more sniffing than playing but that's normal. They have a small and large dog fenced in area which I love to be able to separate the dogs. We didn't drive the entire park, it is bigger than you think, but I did want to check out the water front areas so we drove to what we thought was the area we saw from the boat ramp but once we parked we realized it was the area before our target spot... it is that big. A lot of the park lines the waterline of Lake Tarpon, which is beautiful! They have shaded trails along the waterline that also have a board walk where we were able to see turtles and smaller gators and then on the trail, they lead to these smaller/semi private picnic areas with 1 grill. Right now, the grills are covered due to COVID-19 but I can image this to be a very relaxing area to sit right next to the water and grill some food with friends/family. Bring your bug spray! While admiring the views of the lake in one of the small picnic areas, it did not take us long to notice the pretty decent sized gator that was on razor locked on to the people in the picnic area one over from us so we decided it was best to continue walking with the girls as there is no need for them to become part of the lunch menu. There were smaller gators close by so most likely that was the alpha and the other two were the females. As with everything, other patrons can enhance your experience somewhere. We had a gentlemen that was standing close to us on the boardwalk (still 6 feet away as we both had our dogs with us) that offered up suggestions on other places in the park to go check out that generally have more wildlife around there to see, plus all the different pavilions throughout the entire park. We noticed a ton ourselves and with the additional waterfront picnic areas with grills, there are plenty of options to pick from with different views. We decided to leave the rest of the park for another visit, as it was hot and the pups needed to take a break. This is a great family spot, can't wait to bring some of mine with me next time.

I've lived in this area 96% of my life and this was my first visit to Anderson park. I'm LOVING the water front! It's gorgeous. From the little picnic tables and grills that dot the lake front just off the boat launch, to the large sweeping areas that allow you to enjoy the waterfront on swinging benches, this is a park that is for those who wish to be active or peaceful. The park was a lot bigger than I thought, when We drove over a bridge that was apparently a drive way, and over to a 2nd area of the park for another large expanse of play space and walking areas. The park is well maintained and quite nice to visit. I know I'll come back.

This is a nice county park off US 19 that borders Lake Tarpon. There is a lot of hills and trails so it is perfect for walking or biking. A trail along the lake has picnic tables every 30 or so feet along the water. As you can see from one of my photos, there is also a nice boardwalk along the water. For those who like to boat, there is a boat ramp. If you would like to have a large party there are several pavilions to reserve. I need to visit this park more because there is a lot of shaded area to walk. I believe my husband and I went about a mile and a half just walking along the water path. There is also a dog park area and a playground. According to the signs, the playground was closed due to social distancing protocols. However, the bathrooms were open, which is good. There is plenty of space at this park for people to space out and enjoy the outdoors.

Very nice park, that appears to be aimed more at pet owners and picnic enthusiasts than nature lovers and bird watchers. Very little pathway that is up against the water, large number of picnic tables with grills, and a number of covered picnic / event areas also. Beautiful park... just not what I was hoping for.

What an amazing hide away from the world . This park is gold. I have passed that park a million times not even knowing it was there . Thank you Maps. First of all , it's super clean and perfectly groomed. Plenty of parking available. I feel safe waking around with my dogs alone . Love that it's quite . I'll be back tomorrow !

If the weather is right then this is a perfect place! There are a lot of restrictions so nothing with water like balloons or waterslides or anything like that. Great for a family get together though!

Beautiful park with lots of secluded areas to sit and look out at the lake. Lots of turtles, gators, and other wildlife to see! I especially liked the secluded little picnic areas. :)

This is where you can take those pics. They also have picnic tables. As for swimming, I would say no. So much seaweed and not enough water. I believe it's a combination of the tide and the lack of rain too. The parking here is $6 and you can pay through park mobile. They say no dogs and there are tons of signs. My pup and I stayed in our car while my husband went to check the water. It was a good reminder why we don't go to this beach. Unfortunately, this was the day of the craziness in Clearwater with the teen takeover with all the chaos.

For that reason there's less shade in the park, but otherwise it is well maintained and restored as much as possible. There is the historic spring, that was once a paid attraction in the area, but now the park is totally free. Usually there is an abundance of fishes near the circular spring. We enjoy walking along the trail. There's an observation tower that gives a nice view of the area, plus seveal decks to admire the Gulf. To the right side of the entrance there's a other trail, longer and more for bicycles, that takes you along the paved road to another observation deck. As walker I prefer the other trail, more natural, better shades, and less hot than walking on asphalt. There is a butterfly garden, and a little free library as well, near the parking lot.

We were fascinated by numerous jumping fish launching themselves out of the water over and over again. They do close a few minutes after sunset so it is difficult to watch this from the tower and get back to the car before they close for the night. A park ranger was coming out to clear people out before the sunset. Not sure this is a daily occurrence but was on the Sunday night we were there. Park is pretty clean. Trash cans are emptied. Need some more signs showing where the trails are located. When you park by the main bathroom there is nothing telling you where to go for trails. Cute butterfly garden that could use a tiny bit of care and surprisingly had no live butterflies around it. The spring has several signs around it that explain it's history and made this more interesting. Look for the female silhouette in the bottom of the spring. There is a sign that helps you see it. Numerous picnic areas. They are rolling out a new reservation system but it was down for a week. The Pinellas Trail connects right to the park and several spots had bike racks. Only thing that was frustrating was numerous visitors not following signs for "no dogs" especially in the tower where leashes get in the way on small walkways. The sign right on the boardwalk leading to the tower clearly indicates no dogs so why do you feel entitled to walk your dogs up and down the tower? Hopefully no dogs peeing through wood slats down on people below. Definitely be back to this park when in the Sponge Docks area. The beauty is so evident here... There are some sections that smell like sulfur probably due to decaying swamp material but this is nature!
