We were passing by and decided to stop in. The nearer Ace to my mom's house has recently closed, so whenever we see another Ace hardware store, we usually make a visit. This time my husband needed some bug spray and a couple other items. The store itself is well stocked -- packed actually. They had exactly what my husband needed and at a decent price. And checking out was fairly fast considering they were a bit busy. The problem here is that it's not easy to get in and out of and the parking lot is narrow. There's a lot of traffic on the main street so heading out takes a bit of patience. The hardest thing was trying to back out with some of the trucks parked behind us. They were so long that there wasn't enough space, so it required maneuvering back and forth several times. I'm sure we'd return if in the area. read more

Once again, Ace hardware saves the day. I was trying to put together a swing and realized I didn't have the bottom part things to hold it together... apparently these are nuts. Search through my own nut supply for the random right piece that will assure my kids' swing won't fall apart? I don't trust my skills ennough for that LOL - but I do trust Ace. I took the swing part with the screw and brought it into the store along with my kids, because I want them to feel empowered about tools and fixing things and asking for help. As soon as we walked in, the kind people at the front desk asked if I needed help. I held up the swing rope and said, "I need the thing that goes on the bottom here" and pointed to the screw. Yes, I had no idea what I was talking about but that doesn't matter! She smiled, told me the aisle number and then said someone from the store would meet me there. YES! The store is small -which is exactly why I like it. I walked to the aisle, and a kind employee was already there ready to find me the nut I needed. There are A TON of nuts and other small pieces of various sizes and kinds. He took my screw, found what I needed, put the 4 pieces in a little paper bag and sent me on my way. I went straight to the checkout counter (well, while my kids begged for me to buy them any of the toys and candy on the way to the check out - smart marketing tactic but I resisted) where I paid less than 2 dollars for my supplies. I have NEVER been this angry over a shopping experience in my life. This place is an absolute joke. I followed their return policy EXACTLY--within the 30-day window, receipt in hand, everything--and they still refused my return like the policy means nothing. It's straight-up false advertising at this point. And the customer service? Completely useless. Rude, dismissive, and couldn't care less about fixing the issue. No explanation, no effort, no accountability--just attitude. It honestly felt like they were going out of their way to be unhelpful. How do you run a business like this? You take people's money, then refuse to stand by your own policies? It's shady, unprofessional, and beyond frustrating. I feel completely disrespected as a customer. Very small store and lot. Workers were very friendly except for the manager. Very angry looking person that was less than helpful in fulfilling a coupon that was on the ace app. Even the one girl at register agreed it was silly to not honor it but manager just walked away without any real explanation. Customers service is dead with management here but the other workers were friendly. Ace's saving grace is the price for the product is unmatched around here; so, next time will go to a different location and do curbside to avoid low customer service. Disgusting service and entire careless attitude for customers. I walked in to have some keys made in their key department. I counted 5 men in the key department and patiently waited for 5 minutes standing at the counter. Can you believe not a single employee would look up or even acknowledge my presence so I walked out without saying a word. I then went to a fabulous hardware store on Dixie highway and it was just the opposite. I was greeted by at least 5 employees who asked how they could help me today. They made all my keys and I bought several other things spending $100.00 and could not have been happier. I moved to Lake Worth two years ago. I've been shopping at Lantana Ace since then. I always get the help I need to buy the right product. Last week Dave mixed some touch up paint for me. It was Sherman Williams paint but they couldn't mix a color that matched. What I bought from them looked terrible, Just the wrong color. Dave had me bring in a nickel size chip. The paint he mixed is perfect. I've bought everything from smoke alarms to grass seed. I'm delighted by the consistent help with any project. read more

I was in the Lantana branch of ace hardware where I go a lot great place amazing employees great knowledge and smiles when you walk in the door. But yesterday I was there around 3-3:30pm to find a few nuts and bolts I was greeted and helped as normal but then I hear a man yelling around the corner you could hear him from the front of the store he was so loud but what disgusted me most was this man stating he was the owner of the place was using profanity and had his finger in the young ladies face and was saying don't question him about what he does. The young lady just kept working on the project she was working on I have seen her in the store before she is always doing something if it helping customers or working on something, she always has a smile even after he if I could say embarrassed that young lady she finished what she was doing and then went on to help another employee put stuff away I wanted to let her know she is a wonderful young women who is hard working and always has a smile even after that show she still smiled telling me to have a great day as I walked past her this so called owner really need to learn how to treat his employees with respect definitely the good ones!! read more

If I could give it 10 Stars I would! I'm a realtor and I had a key stuck in one of my lock boxes. I walked into Ace and asked if anyone knew a way to get my key out. Jonathan ask me if I had another lock box and then he took at least 20 minutes of his time to carefully saw through the lockbox to remove my key! You won't get that kind of service at Home Depot or Lowe's LOL! This store is like a throwback in time. For a store that is needs to compete against the big box hardware stores, this place has a lot to learn. I've been in the store a few times just because it is fairly close and I didn't want to wander through a big box store. This morning I stopped by the shop with the intention of picking up something small, nothing to break the bank or anything, but I like supporting local shops rather than going to warehouse store. I always bought my hardware and building supplies here, even if the pricing wasn't competitive, I feel that the more we shop on the Internet and in large warehouse types of stores, the less and less we will have mom and pop local shops that can offer friendly advice like the chain's motto says "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks". This morning I decided to stop by after having breakfast to pick up a couple of small things. After walking in I was greeted by two very friendly women, one of which directed me to the aisle where the sandpaper was, and then a third woman walked by and said with a rather nasty tone "we're not even open yet.. we open at 9", a little taken back, I looked at my watch and it was 8:55... I then said "do you really want me to leave and stand outside for the next 5 minutes? Where I again was answered with a nasty tone saying "YES!" Not only was I shocked, but the two other women liked at me and then each other in a bit of disbelief that someone would talk to a customer like that. I understand if the store isn't opened.. that's not the point here. The point is you don't talk to customers like that. This employee should work in the back opening boxes or something where she never interacts with customers. After all the years I have done business there, I will never step foot in that place again... Even if it means having to drive a longer distance to purchase things at Home Depot or Lowe's. I guess the manager, or owner of the shop, doesn't know that this is the way this particular employee values, or doesn't, the shops customers like myself to allow her to work there. My advice is, save yourself some money and greif, and shop elsewhere. read more

Avoid this place, horrible customer service and overpriced. Spend the five mins to go to Walmart or Home Depot. It's like a bad gas station with tools. The only reason anyone should stop there is for an emergency or if you love to be ripped off. Try to return something and you will see how they value customers, even if you have a receipt. While they did repair my patio door screen properly, thus the 2 stars, I am less than satisfied with the way the employees reacted when I told them they had a slight overpricing on the way they measured the size of the screening area. They included the frame beyond where the screening went. It was minor, but more of principle. While I was discussing it with one employee, another decided to "let me know how it works". My disagreement with them must have hurt their feelings, because of what happened next. I already agreed to bring my neighbor's screen in, since she could not, they took my money and then three days later tell me that they will not do the screen and to get a refund of what I paid them. Also, my neighbor's screen is the same exact screen as mine as they were both installed by the community builder, and hers' was priced $2.00 less, which proved my statement that I was overcharged. I am very displeased with the way this business handled this and will not use them again, nor will I recommend them to anyone. read more

Not happy with the customer service at this location. They twice have not been able to copy a key I brought in. I rented a carpet cleaner for work and was uncomfortable with them writing my entire credit card number, expiration date and security code on the contract in triplicate, but assumed it was there so they could issue the $20 deposit refund upon it's return the next day by my employees on my only day off. I was told no deposit refunds without the actual credit/debit card,, and asked to speak to the manager and then the owner who told me that the credit card company wouldn't allow him to do refunds without the actual card. I am the general manager of a nearby business who issues refunds without the card, and I have had it done at other businesses without a hitch. And when I told him I didn't believe him that it couldn't be done he said he didn't care what i thought. He also bad mouthed Home Depot twice. I found him both ignorant and rude. read more
