Perfect hole in the wall mom-and-pop restaurant serving delicious, hearty, authentic Portuguese food. Located in the historic Alama district in Lisbon, we were told to keep on walking through the neighborhood until you reach areas where cars can't drive through anymore and that's where we would find the most authentic restaurants. And sure enough we found this family run restaurant serving rustic seafood dishes at affordable prices, delicious for everyone! The hus-bae got the fresh grilled sea-bream which was fall off the bone cooked to perfection! My dish was a tomato and rice-based stew with squid cooked in an earthen Clay pot. The pot kept it warm for the entire meal and the meal kept me warm during the cold wintery afternoon. One thing is for certain though, the portion sizes were huge! We could've easily shared that pot of squid stew amongst two or three people.
This meal was the perfect start to our Lisbon vacation. read more
