1 out of 5 stars Service Received: One 60-Min Couples Massage with Champagne and Chocolates (Limit One Per Customer) This was hands down one of the worst spa experiences I've ever had. The masseuses were clearly untrained--there was excessive use of oil, awkward pressure, and random elbowing that felt more like rough play than massage. At one point, the masseuse even laughed with her colleague while continuing a technique that was more ticklish than relaxing. The room was cold, and instead of proper sheets or blankets to stay warm, we were given hot towels that only made the temperature contrast more uncomfortable. The entire setup felt more like a training center than a professional spa. The included "champagne and chocolates" was equally disappointing. Despite asking ahead if the chocolate was vegan, we were given two random Halloween-sized candies (Twix and KitKat) and flat, tasteless champagne. This experience was a complete waste of time and money. I left feeling more stressed than when I arrived and immediately went searching for another spa to salvage the day. NEGATIVE 5 STARS I have never had such a crazy experience at a spa before. So first off, I came in with a $110 dollar value Groupon and still had to pay an additional $25. The Groupon was for a "60 minute couples massage with facial", an appointment was made and granted we were about 10 minutes late, however upon our arrival we were informed that it was a 30-minute massage and 30-minute facial. My partner and I were willing to give up the facial just for a 60 minute massage, but they had us there arguing for 20 minutes and would not budge on the terms. Eventually we gave in. During the massage my partner had to keep asking for more pressure, which was applied for about half a minute before the masseuse went back to basically just rubbing the oil on her back. I asked my masseuse to just stay focused on my back as this is where I have pain, and she had the nerve to say that would cost me extra money and proceeded to massaging the back of my legs! Like what?? Who benefits from a 15 minute back massage? Come the end of the massage, we were so unhappy with our visit that we decided we did not want to leave a tip. The owner proceeded to chase us out of the establishment saying that we HAD to leave a tip. We did feel bad about this but I explained to the owner that we did not get the service we wanted. She said that there was nothing that could be done about the Groupon. That was one thing, I told her, but neither me nor my partner enjoyed the massage. I explained how I had requested they stay on my back and she said that the leg massage was apart of the massage and if they hadn't done it then I would have complained that I didn't get a good massage...I'm not sure what logic that is, but I apologized and told her that we paid for a service we didn't receive and that is all the money we wished to spend on that place. She said if we didn't have money to spend then we shouldn't have come. Totally not the point of what I was saying, but ok. A good business owner knows that the customer is always right and if you want tips and good reviews then you work with the customer to give them what they want, it's not about what you want. After engaging in this debate with me she proceeded to try and have the same debate with my partner. At this point we had wasted enough time in this place and I took my partners hand, said "I'm sorry, but no" and walked her away from this woman. She screamed behind us, "Fuck you!" When we got to the appointment I was told I had to pay an additional fee for tax on the Groupon which is INSANE but ok I got past that. During the massage the two ladies kept talking to each other which annoyed me and my husband this is supposed to be a relaxing experience!!! They are very rough the massage was awful. Package included champagne and chocolates there was barely a sip of champagne in the glass and it was three small chocolates in a dish on the counter what a waste. Their business is so bad I guess that's their only entertainment... the owner and husband are extremely rude and have no issue yelling at people about a shared parking lot they share with other businesses. My friend had a note taped to her car and they had the nerve to use multiple layers of PACKAGING TAPE so when she finally got the note off there was sticky residue that did not come off the car. I have been in the parking lot when the husband and wife (the owners) harassed patrons of the other businesses despite the lack of signs and evidence that they own that part of the parking lot. Got a Groupon for a one hour body massage for maybe 50 bucks so I called and made a appointment which was fairly easy. I came in right after my 5 miles run and I literally think that was some of the best planning I've ever done in my life . I got a combination of deep tissue ,Swedish massage and hot stone . I left feeling so relaxed it was one of the best massage ever !!! Try it . My only con which is totally my fault is that I told myself I would not buy anything on my way out but I mistakenly grabbed my credit card with the 20 bill I had for tip and sure enough she offered another massage for the Groupon price long story * I bought it and kept it in my car in a white evalope and cleaned out my car one day and out went the envelope in the trash UGHhhh so I basically paid full price for my massage the one time I went . This place is the same as Day Spa Millburn. Day Spa Millburn moved from Millburn Ave eastern side to Millburn Ave western side and the name is changed to Lanya Day Spa. While this place is bigger and has a brand new renovation, I always feel this place is not that cozy and comfortable as they used to be. When I come for a massage or facial, I just wish to have a moment of relaxation and comfort, and I don't want to be buzzed with any hard-sells, any package specials. I don't need a cold face, and cold floor or a bad attitude to push me to spend more and more. I wanted to take a nap, enjoy my massage and pay the fee and tips decently and leave without being harassed. Here they do the same trick as Day Spa Millburn and the owner, the staff and how they handle customer services remained the same. I felt I was not warmly treated, not welcomed and not being pampered. All the business wanted from me is money and I felt I was treated as a number instead of a person with customized needs. The owner was very friendly. The staff was nice too. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing, except for some thin walls where you could hear people in the next room. The prices are pretty high considering the woman who did my massage did an average job. My spouse gives better massages and he isn't even trained in massage therapy. Think I'll keep looking... The other reviews were accurate. They really try to push the upgrade. It's for more money, but I think it's because the woman who massaged me clearly didn't know how to do hot stone massage. The up-sell is a mixture of hot stone, shiatsu, and deep tissue. They probably mix the techniques to make up for the fact that she can't really do a full hour with the hot stone technique (or maybe even other techniques). I came in with a Groupon and specifically asked for hot stone because a real massage therapist said it's best for my back. The stones weren't prepared properly and went warm to cold in no time. It really wasn't better than a massage that someone at home can give, which was disappointing on a day off from work. If you're dying to try this place, use a Groupon and keep a firm stance on whatever massage you want. I went here today for a 60-minute combo (hot stone and deep tissue) massage. I purchased a deal off of Groupon. When making the appointment they did ask for the voucher number so take note that if you buy a Groupon, you'll need the number when making the appointment. Upon my arrival, once the desk cleared of guests exiting, I was greeted and was asked for my voucher again. I was later directed to the massage room. My massage therapist was Amy. I was extremely happy with every part of my massage. Once she began she asked if the pressure was ok which it was so she proceeded at the same intensity. Before beginning, Amy also asked if there were any problem area she should focus on. I told her my neck/shoulders and lower back. She made sure to spend extra time on these areas. The one con about this place is that upon checkout the ladies Winnie and Angela were a little pushy on the selling of massage packages. Angela also pushed for a facial ( I thought was a bit rude but didn't dwell on it). However, I did end up purchasing gift certificate for another massage for less than the Groupon deal I initially purchased. Since I read reviews before going, I was aware of the tip and taxes policy (paid in cash). They also remind you at the time you make your appointment. Not a huge thing but they do not use a computer system and write the appointments in a book. I guess they're just old school that way. I bought a package and after many visits the overall quality of service and communication continues to be low. Post facial, I'm unable to see a difference. During the massage I tried asking the practitioner to go gentle but she didn't understand English. We had to interrupt the massage, call the front desk so they could translate what I was looking for. They have signs asking for 20% tips, as well as extra $10 hourly charge for COVID. I paid up both. But the overall experience pre and during COVID has been awful enough that I plan to forgo my remaining sessions in package. I rarely do this but I highly Do Not recommend this place. read more

It was an okay experience. The lady at the counter needed some training in customer service. There was a misunderstanding about payment that she did not handle to well. Also, it is not the best customer service to speak in another language to your co worker while trying to handle customer dissatisfaction. 'Not a good look', especially when they speak English. I had a massage facial combo. I could have done without the facial and it left some discoloration, not sure if it was a reaction. Basically, could have received the same results at home. The massage was good. It was my first ever, but I didn't feel like jello after, or more relaxed, just felt the same. They try to created an ambience with champagne and chocolates, but it's definitely NOT what I expected and they rush you to drink the champagne (Verti) and eat the bite size Twix, or snickers (yes that's the chocolate, lol). For 1, I'd like to start with my boyfriend & I were running late. I gave them a call the lady said it would be taken out of our time. When we arrived, we were greeted nicely but my boyfriend had forgot his mask so had to PAY for one (rolls eyes). The receptionist then went to ask since we were late would we like to pay $35 each to get the full 90 minutes. My boyfriend said sure, paid the $70 (on top of the Groupon fee we already paid). We were walked to the back where they had champagne & chocolates for us & I have to say that was a joke. Champagne glass half filled more like a shot.1 bite size snickers & 1 bite size Twix out of a 99¢ candy bag. Talk about romantic. Facial & massage was excellent. The ladies were communicative & provided a nice service. As we were walking towards the front desk I can already see the receptionist was trying to stop us before she realized my boyfriend was walking to the ATM. My boyfriend tips $20 (remember he already paid $71 on the walk in) & the receptionist tells us that both ladies have to be tipped a certain percentage due to the fact we had a 90 minute service so we have to give another $20. No no no no no, we went back and forth because she is now trying to show us their "policy" after she failed to show us when she asked for more money before the service. Had we known we had to tip a certain amount based on the time of service, we would've accepted the loss time. The actual massage is eh. They didn't ask what pressure we preferred and they use regular baby oil..then use a towel at the end to rub it off of your skin. The facial was basically washing my face 3 times and putting on a sheet mask. During the facial they consistently tried to up-sell my fiancé and I different facial packages- we kept saying no and they kept offering different things. No means no! Still, that was annoying but not horrible. Then comes the best part- champagne and chocolates! Except we didn't receive champagne we got grape juice and snickers and m&ms in Old ratty wrapping. Which was annoying but we appreciated the hilariousness of it. Halloween leftovers maybe? Upon leaving we were told there was a Groupon fee. It was like $10 probably my fault for not reading the fine print. Then came the kicker! 2 envelopes handed to us for tip. We tipped the 2 women and the girl scavenged through it in front of us clearly annoyed we hadn't given her more money then they asked we tip them more. I was very confused at how these women are so pushy! I tipped over their "set minimum" and they still had the audacity to push us for more money. My massage wasn't so great but maybe my expectations were too high. The spa itself is beautiful! It is really clean and smells really good. The hot stone massage though . For more than half of the massage the stones weren't used. I like medium pressure but that was an issue because the pressure was either too hard or too soft. I'm a regular here for PAIN TREATMENT deep tissue massage and GUASHA for I'm out of option and already on high dose of pain pills. I also visit chiropractor regularly, and he said I need massage to relief muscle tension. GUASHA, is a kind of micro-injury to me, so my body can heal itself. They offer face, body, beauty treatments, but I'd never try yet. (If you want to try GUASHA, please look up info first for it can be painful, Asian homeopathy idea of kill pain with pain). They can really give you DEEP TISSUE massage for those who really have chronic body ache and pain like me. You can request light to heavy pressure. read more

With my boyfriend getting a deep tissue and me getting a Swedish massage, the woman then stated it would be $55. Great! Since the beginning, this spa was very rude. When I called to make an appointment I told them I had a Groupon. The woman's tone sounded very unfriendly when I mentioned Groupon. After booking the appointment she told me that I will be charged an extra $25 because of COVID. They should not partner with Groupon if they don't see the value of getting potential new business in the door and cannot respect that.
