Excellent to poor reviews will surely be based on the representative and Laparkan policies. Some of the employees i spoke to had limited information as to shipments and schedules. As per the website and office rep the cut off for pickups are on a Tuesday for sailing by ship on the next two Wednesday. Laparkan then cancelled Tuesday pickup for tomorrow Wednesday, between 4 p.m. amd 7 p.m., for which i took time off from work to facilitate. Today Laparkan again cancelled for Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Hence another day from work to facilitate this. Their excuse is availability of driver pickup. This company continues to operate as if in Guyana with no cunsumer protections and at their whims and fancies; no regards for the customer and is why their ratings is a meager 3. But this can only be since there are no better options, really, since the other shippers are no better. Their operations are completely different than what is posted online. On July 26, 2025, I purchased, packed, and shipped a Commercial Bin and a China Box containing School supplies for distribution to the school children in a small village on the East Coast of Demerara in Guyana. The Commercial Bin and China Box were shipped out of Laparkan's New York location. I scheduled my trip to Guyana for September 6, 2025. This date was chosen so that adequate time was allotted for the arrival and clearing of the container which housed my items. On September 2, 2025, I contacted the Laparkan office @ 718-287-3620 to inquire about the status of my shipment. I was told that the cargo reached Guyana on August 31st. I thanked the customer rep for her time, and informed her that I was leaving for Guyana on September 6th and it appeared that I should be able to uplift my items upon my arrival. She agreed with my assumption and I hung up the phone very happy to know that the school children would be able to receive their school supplies just a few days after school had begun. I arrived in Guyana the evening of September 6th. On Monday September 8, 2025, I contacted Laparkan at the local number 592-226-1095. I provided my Dock Receipt Number to the customer rep and was told that the cargo arrived in Guyana on August 31st, and it takes 5 to 7 business days to clear customs and someone will contact me when my items were available for pick up. on Wednesday September 8th, I contacted Laparkan's NY office (718-287-3620) to inquire about the status of my items, as it had been more than 7 business days and no one from their local office had contacted me about picking up my shipment. I was given the same answer, "someone will contact me when my items were available for pickup. I contacted Laparkan's local office once again on September 15th, as I still had not heard from anyone regarding the status of my shipment and when it would be available for pickup. I was given the same message, "someone will contact you when your item is available for pickup". At 11:29am on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (4 days before my departure from Guyana), I received a text message from Laparkan informing me that my cargo has arrived and is available for pickup. I hastily arranged transportation for the following day (Wednesday September 17th). I arrived approximately 9:00am to the Lombard and Broad street location to uplift my two items. I assumed it would take an hour or two to get things sorted out and be on my way. I was wrong. It took half an hour to get to the counter to get the invoice for the Destuff/Ocean,Admin, & P/Security Chrg fee. It took another 15 minutes to pay that invoice and collect the stamped receipt, I was then instructed to enter the warehouse to identify my items and get them inspected by the customs officier. It took the warehouse staff approximately 45 minutes to locate my two items. We then waited an additional 15 minutes to get the forklift guy to move the other cargo out of the way so that my commercial bin could be retrieved. At that point, the customs officier stepped away from his position. He was gone for approximately 1 hour. I inquired about his status, and was told he was assisting other customers in the back office and I should wait for him to return. He returned after an additional 15 minutes of waiting. He reviewed the items in my boxes and assessed a clearing fee for the items. I was then told to join a long line to pay the cashier. after that I was made to join two other lines to get the gate pass and other items necessary to remove my packages from the location. After approximately 4 hours of idling, my driver was able to enter the facility where he had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the forklift operator and a few other workers to assist him with securing the two items in his cantor. The entire process took approximately 5 hours. It is not very efficient or organized. There are two many steps involved and not enough people/staff to assist the customers. something has to be done to make this process more efficient. There is no acceptable reason why cargo that arrived in the country on August 31 is not available for pickup until September 16th. No explanation or apologies were given for the delay. Because of this delay, I was almost forced to cancel my return flight. Thanks to the assistance of some wonderful friends and family, I was able to sort and distribute the school supplies to the children 1 day prior to my scheduled departure from Guyana. This type of service is not acceptable and should not be tolerated. I will not be taking my business here anymore. There is no accountability for the sub-par performance and the customer is left to suffer because of this inadequate and inefficient service. The customer service agents need to be trained on how to interact with the public. Customers pay a lot of money to ship their cargo and should be informed if there are any delays or issues that will impact their access to that cargo. Less than 1 star for me read more

This is the WORST company to use to ship anything to Central, South America or the Caribbean. They charge ridiculous fees both at the place of origin and the destination. They never say there will be charges at the destination and if they are not paid, they will not give you merchandise and eventually will sell it off. They store your items in warehouses that are not safe form burglaries or damage or even fire as it has happened many times. Thier insurance will not pay for goods damaged. Shame on me for not reading these reviews before using Laparkan. They seemed really great and helpful when I went to ship two items. I originally planned to ship in two separate boxes but then they said I'd be able to ship both items in one box. They then marked the box as fragile but that didn't matter, as one of the items still arrived broken. They then reminded me that I signed a waiver saying they're not liable for damage. Without question, this is one of the worse company I've ever dealt with!! While the employees on the phone are polite, they are completely disorganized and clueless as to what's going on. I shipped five barrels over four months ago that were suppose to be delivered to my mom. They told me this was supposed to take around three weeks to be delivered. When the barrels arrived, they came back asking for more money, claiming that the quote they initially provided and was paid is incorrect. After going back and forth for weeks and them holding the barrels hostage, we aggressed to pay the additional fee. After paying the fee over a month ago, the barrels are still not delivered. I called them this morning to asked what was happening with the shipment and was told that the barrels were sent to another warehouse four hours away, then returned to the original warehouse accidentally. Now they are saying that my mom, who is in her 70's will have to come pick up the barrels even though we paid them to drop them off at her home because of her age. PLEASE! I did a shipment with Laparkan last year and a number of my items were missing by the time I received my packages I put in a claim since December 2020 and to date my claim has not been closed. Mr. Dawson from the Barbados office called me in April and I have to keep calling him every two weeks to follow up about my claim and all he keeps telling me he will get back to me. This is absolutely the worst service I have ever received with a shipping company and I experienced bad service and lies from the time I tried to clear from shipment until the day it was received. With the exception of Miss Juliette Bullen how tried to help as much and she could throughout my ordeal. I highly do not recommend anyone to use this company. read more

My family has been using Laparkan shipping to send boxes and/or barrels to Guyana for years. Early in the morning, at 9am when to Mount Vernon, NY office opened on November 7, 2020, I went to pack a barrel to send to Guyana. I had a lot of stuff that I wanted to send to my family so it was my intention to purchase two barrels, but an employee recommended a commercial bin. I have only ever sent barrels or boxes. He then helped me to pack it and seal it up. I was told that the bin would begin its journey to Guyana the following week and it would take 3-5 weeks to arrive. This commercial bin was supposed to be a surprise for my family, just before the holidays. I called a few weeks later to check the status of the bin and it had not been shipped yet. We were told there was a back order. We decided to send the package in November to beat the holiday rush. We continuously called to make sure that the bin had been shipped and were told that it was not in the system and that no one knows where the bin is. My family and I tried to contact many offices (NJ and Miami) and we were told to keep calling back and we were told the same thing each time. We tried to use the online cargo tracker as well, and at first the commercial bin did not appear in the search / on the website at all and once it did appear the status never changed whenever we would check it (every few days). Each time we checked it said "Standing". In an attempt to find the shipping status of the bin we contacted the supervisor during the last week of December, who said that the bin made it to NJ and they were going to expedite it to Miami. But in the end the customer service workers told us that our bin's status was "standing". When we contacted the Miami office, they were completely unaware of the situation. It is now February 1, 2021 and the bin has not made it to Guyana yet. We are very disappointed in Laparkan Shipping. It is very careless of them to lose our package after we paid and packed it at their facilities. In all of the years of shipping with Laparkan this has never happened. Truly unethical. read more

Shipped out of the Brooklyn branch, I was quoted a price of $180 to send my item that evening and left because they were closing in 20min. Next morining had to pay $214 because it was another girl and that was the price. The warehouse worker was very nice and he wrapped and sealed I tipped him only. Nightmare I shipped item on 6/30/20 today is 7/17/20 item is still in Miami nowhere close to POS they keep saying that the sailing is Thursday or Friday and if it miss this it will cantch the next one ??? then they said it did not reach Miami to catch the sailing however I was told it was in Miami since July 8th explain this to me? Very unorganized and dates are never given. I would not recommend this nightmare of a company. Spend extra and go to Caribbean Airlines Cargo or try anyone else. This stress is unbelievable. Working at Laparkan in Miami FL was one of the worst experiences I've had. Even though the job and the conditions are hideous, the attitude of management was the last drop. Working in this warehouse made me sick to my stomach every single day I had to go in. The horrible smell of the dead rats inside was unbearable, and the unprofessional behaviors from management did it for me. This is a family owned company and the managers are 99% all related. They all behave very unprofessional, including verbally too. I feel so bad for the people working there in that warehouse with low pay, rude management, extremely hot environment, working long hours and the smell of dead rats. I hope they can re-think their operating system with employees and realized that they are not doing employees a favor, the employees get paid what they worked so hard for. I never thought about reading the reviews before using laparkan. I was familiar with them from NY and thought I could use them here in Orlando Florida. It took 7 weeks for my barrels to be delivered to my family in Jamaica and after opening the barrels everything was split in half. I don't know who exactly is responsible for the missing items but the door to door service is bad. It went from 2 weeks to 7 weeks and then me having items missing. My barrel had items for family and friends experiencing hard times during this pandemic and to see this take place is HORRIBLE. I already paid for the services and they stole my items such as food and toiletries. I wouldn't recommend them to an enemy. Shame on this company for bad customer service and stealing. read more

All the previous negative reviews are correct. Laparkan has terrible customer service and is not above lying to thr customer to cover up their incompetence. I run a non-profit and have used Laparkan a total of 4 times before the most recent mishap without incident to ship hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies to needy children all over the Carribean. No hiccups until the last shipment in which we were told twice in two different calls that the barrel would arrive September 14, 2019 with 3-5 days processing time. Door to door service was also paid for. Days pass and our recepients never receive the barrel. We call Laparkan and are told the barrel is in Guyana and will arrive that same day which was Friday September 20th door to door and if any issues to call back Monday. It never arrived and we called back again Tuesday to inquire. We were told it actually arrived September 21 and needs the 3 to 5 days to process and would arrive sometime that week. So we wait and call back October 1st Tuesday and are told we need to wait another 2 weeks for processing. We are told to call back for updates from the Guyana branch. We do that same day and are transferred a at least 3 different times and hung up on once. I would not recommend Laparkan. Im terrified that the barrel will never reach these children and my organization will have lost hundreds of dollars. I believe we are being lied to and no one seems to know whats going on with the shipment. Work with this company at your own risk. God only knows if the barrel will ever get there. read more

I called Jamaica to check on status of my barrel .I was informed I would need to pay.i informed them that I paid in full, service was then rendered. Thieves. They lied about the length of time it would take to ship a barrel. The said one week and it was a month. They make it seem like they're cheap to cheap. Lies. $60 to send a barrel but when they got the barrel to the destination there's an additional $350 charge NOT clearing. That doesn't include the rent fee they charge daily if you can't pay this unexpected $350 charge. Whatever you do NOT set yourself up. Other than the guys at the Queens location that work downstairs wrapping and handling your boxes/barrels etc., the service at Laparkan is horrendous. If your packages are damaged in transit, even if you have unlimited insurance coverage, expect nothing from them. They do not honor their own contract. I shipped a door to door barrel to Jamaica with this company to Jamaica, and when my barrel arrived it seem as if someone had shopped out of my barrel because many items were missing. Now I had taken out insurance on this shipment and since I reported it I have been getting a run around from this company. They have made promised to contact me and they have not called back. Up to now I have not heard from this company. First they picked up my barrel and had forgotten it at a wharehouse and it was not on the ship and they had to take it to Jersey to catch a freighter there. Customers like to know that they are important to your business and if this how you operate I am not doing any more business with you. I would not recommend this company. I ship a barrel to Trinidad the driver pick it up on tuesday never took it into storage supposedly the truck was stolen on friday, bottom line i lost my barrel all my goods groceries everything now the company is feeding me BS about insurance.
