Very unethical company to do business with. Be aware that they will lie to you regarding the arrival dates and refuse to deliver after they take your money for DOOR TO DOOR delivery. The customer service at 718-227-7357, customerservice@laparkan.com, info@laparkan.com, and the people who work at the warehouse in Guyana are all dishonest and thieves. They are claiming that my barrel (LPK7445863) which left NY since November 19th, 2019 and arrived at Georgetown Guyana since December 3rd is now missing. I sent tablets, some clothing and food stuff for my sick relatives who are extremely unhappy and disappointed because they cannot afford to buy tablets in Guyana and they are poor. I have been sending barrel for almost 27 years now with Laparkan instead of getting better their services is getting worst!!! the best they can do is take your money and give you hell when it is time to deliver on the promises they make. On June 21,2019 they picked up a barrel from my residence.I paid for door to door service it was not shipped from their location until July 31st arrived on August 22. This is where the nightmare begins. I called on august 29 and was told that the barrel has been cleared from customs on August 22nd but, will not get delivered until 5th. When I question why does it take almost 3 weeks for the to deliver it the Snotty CS gave an attitude with the impression that Laparkan is doing me a Favor. Horrible service. Barrels were picked up by Laparkan October 24. Was told they will be shipped on November 7th and arrived in Guyana on November 24. I checked with them at a later date and was told my stuff will arrive in Guyana on December 1st. I just got off the phone with Laparkan. Was told that barrels were shipped on November 15 and expected in Guyana on December 15th and will take about 10 days for custom to clear. Are you guys for real? Unreliable service. If I could give a negative 5 star I would. I send a barrel in June the barrel arrived in Guyana on the 5th of August and until today 08/24/2021 I did not receive my barrel. When I called voice mail cannot speak to a manager left 8 messages for the manager and cannot get a call no one knows when the barrel will be delivered. The receiver called and asked if he can pick it up the said absolutely not it has to be delivered but the are not sure when. I have a religious function on Saturday and have stuff for that in the barrel and cannot get my barrel or a manager to speak with. One person said she is sending an email yesterday and will get back to me did not. The customer service is the worst and most horrible no one knows anything and manager. I called Guyana twice and the hold time was too long costing me a lot so I had to hang up. I am not sure why they are hold the barrel hostage and cannot release it to the receiver at the ware house. This was my first time using their service in July 2019 and then in September 2019 to send a 5 pound box to Suriname. Both times I had paid $25 for the shipping costs but what I found disheartening and greedy is that both times did they charge my family the equivalent of $50 in order to get the boxes. This was very upsetting because $50 is a lot of money back home and I had to send my family the money. They are the worst company as far as I'm concerned. read more

Horrible customer service! I spoke with Shaneequa (I may be incorrect with the spelling) and she lacks professionalism. UGH! I received a voice message from the company saying my package wasn't shipped as expected and to return the call. When i returned the call I dealt with Shaneequa. She said my package was not in the system though I have a receipt from them. No apologies on her part, no trying to resolve the issue. Instead she's trying to convince me that I probably used another company's service. I eventually played the voice message for her that was left for me. Her response 'ohhh! This company is full of BS! My wife sends a barrel to Guyana in June and now its mid August and after a week of running around they telling her it's still in NY. Even though she's been there for two weeks and sent that barrel a month ago. I am seeing why you only have one and a half star it is because of the way you treat customers, I sent a package on the 27 of November, I was told that it will get to St Kitts & Nevis by the 17th of December, only to find out three weeks later it is still sitting in the warehouse, this company is on reliable. I tryed to get a supervisor but all I got was a run around.My grandkids will not have a Christmas because the stuff is still sitting in the warehouse. I have had to contact my congressman. My family and everyone in my area in Trinidad & Tobago, were recently affected by the massive flooding, not once, but twice. As a student doctor studying in the US, I tried to gather donations to help try to restore some normalcy to my neighbours and family. I called Laparkan to ship a barrel, having never done this before and was told that drop offs and pick-ups were only available on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I took time off from my job so that I could be at my apartment for to collect the barrel, but no one ever showed up. I called the company and was informed that they were simply not going to drop it off. And when I asked for some sort of compensation for my wasted time and lost work hours, I was told the best they could do is reschedule, so instead of missing 1 work day, I would now have to miss 2 (if they were even professional enough to get the drop off right on the 2nd attempt). The drop off was scheduled between 7am and 1pm. Throughout those 6 hours, no one even attempted to contact me despite having my number. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I would never recommend this business and anyone who knows of safe, reliable shipping to the Caribbean, I would love some recommendations, and would sure to share it. read more

My family and I when shipping usually use LaParkan because of their reliability. Unfortunately this was not the case this time around. I called LaParkan the morning of July 28th to find out when they will be shipping packages that come into their offices that day (the main office was very pleasant). They said that it will get to the destination--Trinidad--by the following Tuesday, August 2nd. Therefore, my family in Trinidad would have received it before today, the 5th of August. Well, guess what, that was not the case at the Church ave Laparkan branch. Instead they kept my package in the office for 5 days before shipping it on the 2nd of Aug. This package was time sensitive and my family will not get it until next week Monday or Tuesday! Even after triple checking at this Church ave office, the woman who was attending to me, reluctantly and with an attitude told me that my family will receive it no later than the 5th!! LIES! I will never ever use Church ave Laparkan shipping branch ever again. Let this be a waning to all of you that often ship packages and barrels to loved ones in the Caribbean NOT to use this shipping branch! Even after calling customer service and explaining my discontent, they still did not offer to give me a discount on my next package. I do not feel comfortable with the way they handle the situation. An easier solution would have been to inform the customer of late shipping, this would have still made me upset but at least I know they value their customers enough to reach out to them. Some of their US based employees are courteous, but most of them have the "god" complex. My advice to you is if you have to ship something by air look into other alternatives like DHL or UPS. These are reputable companies that you can track your package with and that offer certain guarantees. It might even be worth it to spend a little extra with them. Here is my run around with Laparkan: I was told by the Richmond Hill location that to get a package on the Tuesday flight to be available for pick up in Guyana Thursday I would have to drop off no later than the prior Saturday by 12noon. So, on Sat 12/8 package was dropped off. Thursday rolls around and my relative keeps calling the Guyana office. No one picks up on the numerous numbers listed. 2nd Monday 12/17 rolls around, still no answer at the phones in Guyana. The package was supposed to have been shipped on 12/11 and available for pick up 12/13. Well, here we are 12/17; I called the Richmond Hill office to be told in the most casual of monotones with a gum-chewing symphony in my ear "oh, it's still in Miami". A few deep breaths later I asked how come and recanted their own words to me about the shipping schedule. Well, apparently it's not their fault that the plane was full and my package, handsomely paid for via air freight, was left behind. It's not what happened, but the manner in which I found out and the attitude of the employees. Further, they do not know for sure whether my already delayed package would be on the next flight out. My assurance from them? Well, if not the next flight out then the one after that which arrives after xmas with my family's xmas presents. Understandably it's xmas time and they are overloaded, but common, have a system in place to let customers know their package will not be shipped so they are aware. Or better yet, disclose to them at the time of drop off whether there is a chance their package might be left behind based on the amount of cargo they must already know they have so far for shipment. read more

Beware of hidden bogus charges!! I paid Larparkan in NY to ship a washer to Trinidad. When I arrived to pick up the washer in Trinidad the Larparkan office in Trinidad charged me hundreds of dollars in so called "handling fees" (not related to customs fees or duties) and wouldn't release the washer until I paid. Their office in NY never told me I would have to pay Larparkan anything additional in Trinidad and the contract I signed does not mention this. They scammed me out of hundreads of dollars. read more

So....this company was recommended to me by a friend. Never, never, never me AGAIN. This was my first and last experience with these people, and they won't be recommended by me. On the 24th of june they was supposed to come pick up the barrel by a certain time it didn't happen until the evening. Ok. Barrels i know usually take3 weeks to get to the Caribbean. My husband usually send s his On a regular with another company and it gets there when they say it will.... 3 weeks, in perfect condition. I leave for TRINIDAD on the 16th of july, I call On the15th to find out what is the status of the barrel only to be told, "IT DIDN'T LEAVE YET" Whatttt???? What Is the keep back? He can't say why because it's Sunday we have to wait until tmw Monday to get word. I leave on Monday. All my kids little food stuff, food for mom in that barrel. When my husband call in the week they tell him it wouldn't get there until the 27th of July and when it gets there it still gonna take 5-7 days before received, WHAT????? by then I'm back in nyc. No one can give a legitimate reason why this barrel took so long to leave nyc.So it gets to Trinidad on the 28th of july and almost two weeks after they just dropping off to mom's house, today, the 9th of August. Mom said oil leak, detergent leak and flour, rice, oatmeal all foodstuff had to throw out except tin stuff. All this heat, and God knows what happens while in transit. I spend $320 with door to door included plus the money spent on the food all gone to waste. Mom is so angry her blood pressure went up. This was my very first experience and very last with this company. They are totally not professional. I'm not gonna blame my friend, she herself if sooooo surprised and disappointed. I gave it one star only because there is nothing before that, and that they do door to door which most companies don't have and my mom has athrithis in her joints. I'm really really upset. Monday, June 3rd, I called, spoke to Monique, & booked a barrel to be delivered on Wednesday June 5th, to be picked up Saturday June 8th. Wednesday morning I received a call from Monique, saying that they could not deliver as planned, & would deliver the barrel Friday. I told her that, as they were scheduled to pick up on Saturday, they would not be able to deliver Friday as I would not have enough time to pack it. Monique then said that they would deliver the barrel Thursday so that I would have enough time. The barrel was delivered Thursday. Saturday morning, when I did not see the pick up arrive, I called the office & Monique told me that she had me scheduled for pick up on Sunday. I reminded her of our conversation concerning delivery & pick up. She put me on hold & said that she would call the driver to see if he could return. She then came back & said that he could not return & would pick up Sunday. I explained to her that I was leaving, to go home, Saturday afternoon. Again she put me on hold, & left me there for 25min!! I was on the land line, so while I was on hold, listening to the recording over & over, I called on my cell phone. Monique told me that we had been cut off!! I told her that I was still on hold on the other line. She again said that they would pick up Sunday!! Again I told her that I was leaving Saturday, & the family that I was staying with were arriving home Saturday evening, & leaving again Sunday morning, so, as much as I did not want them involved in this mess, as they had enough to do to get a family of 5 up & out, as it seemed that I had no choice, I would leave the barrel & money with them, but it would have to be picked up first thing Sunday morning. Monique then said that she gives the names to the driver & he usually makes his own schedule. I asked for the manager & she told me that she was the manager. I then pointed out that this was not the USUAL situation, that she had made a big mistake on my pick up, & as manager, she should tell the driver to pick up my barrel first. She would not commit to this. I left as scheduled, the family left Sunday morning & had to leave their Grandmother at home as the pick up did not happen until around 12 noon. When the driver arrived, the grandmother complained to him about the time, considering that it should have been picked up Saturday. He said that this was the first he was hearing about it, & if he had known, he could have easily passed back for it Saturday evening on his way back in!!! So not only is Monique incompetent, but she is also a liar, putting me on hold 3 times & pretending that she is speaking to the driver!! Lousy service!! read more

This was my very first experience with laparkan, I called to ask for a barrel to be delivered to my house last Monday , the lady on the phone to me that the guys are gunna be there between 1 -7.. I ask her if it would be possible to have them come closer to seven bc that's when I would of been home, long story short the guys showed up around 3:30/4 and I wasn't home, ok so I missed them called the next morning and was assure I would be rescheduled for Wednesday, got another call later that day saying that they will not be able to come on wed so can I do Thursday , I said fine,now it's Thursday I called first thing in the morning and was told the guys will be there at some point , stayed home all day pushing back all my appointments so I can be home ,it's now 3pm I called and some other lady said oh you wasn't scheduled for today (what!!) now I'm frustrated and ask to speak to a manager but of course no one is available to speak to me .. I was so frustrated, I've been waiting all week and no one can tell me what's goin on or even cared to fix it. Now I was told I will get my barrel on Saturday, again waited all day and after calling several times I finally got a call from a guy name Troy , he spoke to me and explain clearly to me what was goin on , I was finally talking to someone who can articulate and it was wonderful . Anyway he showed up with my barrel and he came bk to Pick up my barrels and he was so great and professional,such a breath of fresh air from what I was dealing with over the phone. If it was not for Troy I would never use or recommend laparkan ever agin but bc of him I will use them , only if I get to deal with him. Queens office 101ave. I shipped a 65" curve tv November 2015 to Trinidad it came broken. I was told it's not there fault i inspected it at the port and it was broken. Now I choose to write a review because I shipped my motorcycle to Trinidad in the end of August 2016 and today is November 9th and my crate is not in Trinidad, I was told it take 3 to 4 weeks but on the third week my crate was in New Jersey. When I called they said customs check motorcycle on Tuesday I said well it's been over 3 weeks and 3 Tuesday has passed since my crate was dropped on a Saturday what's there excuse they said they don't have any. It's been over 2 months and nothing I filled a complaint, never got a call I had to argue for my original title very unprofessional. Saturday will be 12 Weeks. I went to Trinidad on vacation and my bike was not there. I can't speak for any other company but laparkan I do not recommend to anyone. read more

I have the same problem as the other shipper.. I paid for air freight and I received sea freight service. I dropped my package since 10/01/2011, called to get an update on the package (as one cannot track the package online) was told the package will get delivered no later than 10/19/11, however, my relatives are still awaiting the package. (package was for an wedding which was on 10/23/11). Oh, paid for door to door service and there claiming it has to picked up at their office in Guyana.. Bunch of crap they come up with.. I do not know what I was thinking that urges me to use Laparkan. I can think of two reasons which was because it was near me and since I was traveling I needed a shipping place badly. Lapartan turns out to be my worst night mare. I sent a container in December 22 nd 2017 that was full with toys for children in Jeremie Haiti because I wanted them to receive some joys after the terrible event that had occurred there. To this day, August 19 2017, I am unable to track the package. I have called several times in the office who could not deliver. In fact they asked me to call Haiti myself by providing me with a bunch of numbers. When I call those numbers, none of them were working. I called just now, another person by the name of Tony gave me a different number, 509 33330979, again not efficient. You would think that I paid them, the least they can do is to call Haiti and track my package. Oh, no, they are so unreliable, that I have to be the one to call and to find out where is my package. I asked them to call to inquire if the package is still in existence and who has it. They told me that I have to be the one to call by giving me those odious phone number. I am determined to find that container because those christmas gifts were purchased with the sweat of my church community. Some of the individuals who donated were the elderly. I wished I had done some search before I used this Laparkan place which in my view needs to be closed. I plan to call 311 and the Better Bureau of Business; anything that I can do to demonstrate my dissatisfaction with this useless place of business by the name of Laparkan. read more

we usually ship with Laparkan and this time will be the last ,this is no reason any one should be treated like this when you are a paying customer,we booked our tickets to Guyana and shipped 2 barrels filled with our newborn baby items to use in Guyana one barrel was sent and received within 3 weeks and now the 2nd barrel that was sent to laparkan was not even shipped as of yet and I was not even notified so I called them today and they simple said it did not make the shipment but yet no one ever contacted me to give me any options which I would have then paid for air freight to get my newborn baby stuff to Guyana and now I am being told that it will shipped on the next boat well guess what by the time it reached there we will have gone and come back from Guyana so I explained at that point we will be back here so just return the barrel to us,i was told it was packed on the ship and cannot be pulled so I said fine when it reaches Guyana just send it back to me,they told me they cant do that,this company is a RIP OFF and does not respect paying customers that built their business so now I will use one of the many other shipping companies that appreciate their customers ,BE AWARE Of THESE CROOKS read more

I totally agree that this company is not reliable. I used them for the first time to send stuff to my family in Barbados and when I asked about security I was told that they have a lock. Since it was my first time shipping, I relied on them to be upstanding. On the day of pickup, the man slid a fragile wire like lock onto both barrels and when I asked if this was it, he said that it is good and not to worry. The barrels arrived in Barbados and my relative who packed the barrels with me, received both of them with several items missing from one. I have made several complaints to no avail, I was promised call backs which never happened and once I was told to speak to the port in Babados who will then file papers with the US branch but when my relative finally spoke to someone in Barbados, they told her to do the same thing. It was obvious that they had no intentions of addressing this issue so I finally gave up and decided never to use this company again. I am trying another company and so far their security measures seem reliable. I was advised to lock my barrel and was assured that it would also be taped with a security tape.
