We just moved to the Granger area in September. In these 3 1/2 months of "service" I have gotten…read moreto know many of their customer service reps through my weekly calls to report we've been missed again. Fun fact: if you work away from home and don't know to call to report a missed pickup before 4PM, you get to wait FOUR additional days for pickup. To be fair, only one of the customer service reps was rude in my many interactions. I should have known when my original bill was for double service that I was in for a time. Took over a month to get my bill sorted and what did I get but a another new bill! Everyone makes mistakes, so I've enquired if there was something we were doing wrong that prevented timely pickups: can out the night before? placed in a highly visible location? So, not our error. Maybe they have a pool going to see how long they can refuse to provide the service I've paid for before I leave; or maybe it was how many times would I call them to do their job before I found someone else who would... whomever has this week is gonna win big.

When I once called about a missed pickup, I was treated like I was lying since the driver drove past my house. It was difficult to find out when the pickups would be delayed due to weather or holidays. Once I even got a notification phone call of the delayed pickup -after- the pickup day had passed. Not once did the service people ever take the full toter from it's position close to the house, which has been done for us at other addresses. If it wasn't on the curb, the service people did nothing. I just today switched companies and opted for a 65 gallon bin with no extras, which literally cut the cost of our weekly pick up in half. On calling to cancel my WM service, I was offered a special, lower rate. Uh, no, you need to be fair to everyone and not give out special deals to people who are on their way out the door. I really, really despise that marketing tactic. Then I was told it could be up to 10 days before the toter I rented from them would be picked up for good. That seems excessive, but since I will be saving $260 a year, I am OK with slow outgoing service. The kicker, though, is that after 19 years of paying my bills on time, giving them (19 x 520) almost $10,000 worth of business, is that when I asked for the prepaid portion of services that I would not be using to be refunded to me, I was told "no." The customer service rep informed me that this was against policy/impossible, with a notice of said policy on each bill. Well, I don't get a bill from them, having signed up for e-billing, so I was not, in fact, notified of this policy prior to calling to cancel my service. Good for you Waste Management. You get to keep my $80 for services not to be rendered, and it buys you my negative review. Not a recommended company.
