My two friends and I made a 3:30pm appointment here last Sunday, and when we arrived it was pretty full of crafty folks. We were able to choose whatever project we wanted from about 12 choices, and within those there were dozens of different patterns to choose from. All of the options were so cute! I opted for a bottle opener with a wolf nail art, so I got to choose my paint colors, string colors, and the wood board it would all go on. The owner and his wife were also incredibly kind and had helpful tips and tricks. It took my friends and me about 2 hours to complete our projects. And the best part about Extra? It has a great selection of wine and beer! I sipped on a Maxline Raspberry Basil while painting, hammering, and stringing. I can't wait to go back and make another thing!

This unassuming storefront appeared about 18 months ago in the strip of shops that are just across the parking lot and west of King Soopers. If I average 10 visits to King Soopers per month, that means I've driven by this place nearly 200 times while staring at the sign, wondering how a shop that sells bottled olives could survive, and just being too rushed to make time to stop in and check it out. There's also a dentist office over in that strip of shops - and I maintain a strict 100-foot rule when it comes to those places (except Dr. Owens....see my Yelp on Owen's Dentistry for more details). ANYWAY... So, why the big delay in visiting The Bottled Olive? Well, I guess, I expected olives. In bottles. I've got nothing against bottled olives. In fact, that's usually when olives look their most spiffy. But I drove close enough to the front a few days ago and saw that they offer infused olive oils and vinegars. Hmmmm...mental note, I thought.... So, today, we made a point of checking-off one of my many mental notes and stopped in to check it out. Two things became immediately clear. First, I'd made a giant mistake by not visiting this place way earlier. Second, this wasn't going to be a quick stop. Samples of dips, jams, mustards, spreads and even Bloody Mary mixes lined the walls before we even got to the showcase line-up of 30+ oils and vinegars at the rear of the store. Oil flavors included things like Blood Orange, Peppered Bacon, Avocado, Wild Rosemary, and Sweet Cream Butter. Next to the oils were a wide variety of vinegars such as Cucumber, Toasted Coconut, Mango, Summer Peach, and Spicy Sriracha - along with some more traditional balsamic options. It was nearly too much to process - so we jumped right into sampling! The flavors were incredible, and the staff offered great use suggestions. They also had printed materials with great ways to include their "O&V"s in healthy meals. The store offers all kinds of popcorn flavorings, lots of unique pastas (imported from Italy, no less), various coffees and teas, and some very cool gift ideas. If I wasn't already feeling terrible about assuming "bottled olives" (seriously?), owner Michelle showed us their kitchen and told us all about their cooking classes and their themed evenings where they prepare 5-course meals for attendees while providing insights on how to incorporate their products into a healthy and tasty lifestyle. We checked out their website and cooking schedule when we got home, and we've already booked the "Backyard Daddy's Grub" cooking event with our new friends at The Bottled Olive at the end of this month! A convenient location, reasonable prices, incredible flavors, friendly staff.... wait for it..... OLIVE this place!

He graduated after taking automotive classes & could not compete with other employees in Chicago IL. He committed suicide after losing his job again & had medical issues. He was always told he was the last man hired & they had to let him go. I hope the teachers & administration of the new & improved WyoTech have improved their curriculum & the quality of their teachers. This location is in a really small town in Wyoming. If you are a prospective student, you may want to interview at multiple automotive technical schools prior to putting your money in WyoTech.

I took this class awhile ago so things may have changed but a few takeways:…read more -even though my friend and I paid alot of money for the class(about $3000) and flew from another state, they didn't allow us to pair up as they wanted us to pair up with someone we didn't know. so just in case they still do this, pretend you came alone. -there are snow banks which you can crash into and damage the rental cars and you will have to pay for excessive damage so this isn't some safe, go all out and find your limits, environment. if i recall correctly, a couple students had to pay extra even tho they were being careful. -the cars they're required to use because of their sponsorship don't exactly help with some lessons like oversteering bc the car is built to prevent this. they had us do some weird hack to try to override this. -at the end they paired me and my partner up with an instructor to compete with the other teams for quickest combined time around the course. i highly disliked this as it isn't worth the risk damaging the car just for the instructors to have their fun at your expense. i felt like i was being pushed just so they can play their game. -kinda felt like the class was more for the instructors fun, not the students. most, if not, all of the instructors were competition drivers so it does seem like they're using this opportunity to get more track time and hone their skills. not a bad thing as long as you're the priority as you're the one paying and they're getting paid.

PRO: You get to practice driving in the snow in a very safe environment…read more CON: You get to practice driving in the snow in a very safe environment. They put us in late model Lexus's equipped with Blizzak snow tires on a track that was about three lanes wide. We used the entire width of the track and made wide turns. I don't know of any public lanes that are that wide where we would be able to do that. I would've like to also practice driving in more realistic conditions...more narrow lanes and in cars with lower quality tires. Of course they were also trying to help their sponsors (Lexus and Bridgestone) sell cars and tires (they offer a discount on the cars, but not on the tires. Bummer, I'm totally sold on the Blizzaks. The Lexus's were nice, too, but just out of my price range.). The 2nd Gear course is all day, from 9 am - 4:30 pm. They have you meet at the office/classroom downstairs at the Sheraton Hotel at 8:30 am for check-in, an hour of classroom instruction starting at 9 am, then shuttle you to the track about 10-15 minutes away. Then you get paired up with another student and then you guys take turns behind the wheel doing guided exercises and laps around the track. Then there's a short lunch (sandwich, chips, brownie, and water provided) at the track (no meeting up with your family or friends) and some more classroom instructions before heading back into the car again for more exercises and laps. They say there's about 4 hours of behind the wheel driving, but since you're sharing the car with someone else, you really only get to be behind the wheel half the time, so about 2 hours total of actual driving time. The course itself was fine--the staff were professional and knowledgeable. I just question the overall value of the course for an individual learning to drive in the snow. At $480 per person, it was not cheap. If your company is paying for you to be there, then that won't be an issue. But if you just want to practice driving in the snow, this is an expensive way of doing it. Since the track is quite remote, about 3.5 hours from Denver, you'll need someone to drive you there, and there will also be the cost of gas as well as 1-2 nights of hotel stay. Would I do this course again? Only if money was no issue, or if they lowered their rates. Otherwise, I would buy their instructional DVD and take my lesser car with balding tires to a vacant parking lot, or a deserted road, and practice for free. The "certification" was useless for me, as my auto insurance co (USAA) would not give me a discount for taking it, unless I was 55 or older. I didn't do it for the certification, but the discount would have been nice. Overall, it was "A-OK" for me, not bad.
