Baldwin mortise lock doorknobs were loose (fell off), making the door unusable. I scheduled a home visit yesterday for this afternoon. Eddie, the locksmith, who had told me parts might need to be ordered. arrived on time, fixed the problem (no parts needed), and adjusted (had to remove the doorknobs temporarily to do the job) of an interior door He was competant, courteous, and charged what he had quoted on the phone. $85 for the service visit and $35 per door...and gave me a 10% senior discount. Gave them a call a little after noon today to see if they could come out to rekey to locks. Their dispatcher said they could be over to the house between 4 and 5PM. They arrived a little before 4PM. Found out since I had two different kinds of door locks they couldn't make just one key. The technician offered to sell me a door knob set that was the same as one of my doors. Little more expensive than going to Home Depot, but it was better than going over there, shopping for door knob assembly and bringing it back to the house. Tech made me extra keys on site and the end one key for both doors. Yes they are a little pricey, but you are paying for the convenience for everything done onsite. All in all problem solved. My front door lock was broken, couldn't get the key in, they were here within 30 minutes and now working like new.

So I guess blindly picking a locksmith in a panic from Yelp is not wise. We were dispatched some paranoid dude that hit 2017 with a chip on his shoulder. He was overly aggressive and impolite with the gate guards who felt he was intoxicated; to the point where they would not let him on the property. And I believe it because he then called me claiming we had "screwed him," and saying a bunch of crap including he going to destroy me on Yelp. Funny thing, if he had not been such an ass calling and threatening me I actual would have offer to pay a service charge. They might be the best locksmiths in the world, but if your employees are jerks --- move on to a better tradesperson. I will say that because our community security guards denied him access, I did not meet this person; other than his phone call to me. So take this for what it's worth, could have been a total misunderstanding. But we did use a different locksmith company who was wonderful; and the owner of original company did call to apologize for the misunderstanding. read more

I went to laris lock and key on a Saturday the main reason I went was because they were open and close by. I had 3 deadbolts and three handles re-keyed all to the same key. None of them were properly re-keyed. I had to return three more times to get it so that they all work properly. I couldn't possibly recommend anyone call this place for any reason. read more

I highly recommend these guys. I called the locksmith to have them change the locks on my new house's doors and garage. They came at a time that was convenient for me. Chris, the guy who came out to my house, was courteous and clear about prices and quick in finishing the job. Showed up an hour and a half late with no call. I called and they said "he's running behind and will be there in 45 minutes." An hour later he finally shows up. Looks at the lock and says its a "special" lock and will be $795 to replace. Never heard of a front door lock costing almost $800. We said we weren't interested in putting an $800 lock on and unfortunately he said that was our only option. We were then charged for a $65 service call, after arriving over an hour late, and spending 5 minutes looking at the lock and offering one very expensive option.
