Well the 4th time around was a bit upsetting. Man said my lock had a problem which I thought it was part of the service call, he did not mention it would be an added cost to fixing it. My bill went from 106 to 146. Nice man but I believe telling the customers there's going to be an extra cost before doing the extra work. So aggravating. read more

I've used them successfully a number of times in the past. Today I call about an emergency job and the call dropped as I was explaining the situation. I call back only to be accused of hanging up while the gentleman was speaking, he expressed annoyance that I was calling him while he's in the middle of a job. Maybe don't answer if it's not a good time? So much better then berating a client. read more

I called them at 3:24 PM on a rainy day because I have been locked out of my house on the bottom lock. At the very beginning of the call, they said it would be after 4 o'clock that somebody could show up and then within seconds he found a different locksmith that he could send out and they arrived within 15 minutes of me calling. Which is phenomenal because it's been a cold day and it's raining . Everybody else in the area quoted me $125+ . Tim at (South Bay Lock & Key) San Pedro Lock and Key did it for $95. He had to replace the cylinder in my lock because it's a smart lock so it had to be drilled out. Lucky for me. He had a brand new cylinder on him that went with my smart lock system and replaced the cylinder along with re-keying it to match the key that goes to my top lock and he only charged me an additional $20, so the entire service ended up being only $115 and he cut me two additional keys at no cost. Went to this store today to see if they can help repair a car key I spent 300 dollars on for my car. He was like I don't even want to take the screw out it's gonna break apart blah blah and said the key is broken. The key isn't broken just need a new stupid screw because it's strippedand lose and thr key jeep coming un done. He was too busy wanting to go on his phone to even help me. Lazy. Wish I could give him a zero. I called to ask if they carried a specific tool to repair a door hinge, but was not sure of the name of the tool. Was not even allowed to finish one sentence to describe the tool before he started yelling at me about not understanding what I was talking about and then hung up on me when I was in the middle of speaking. I went in to further speak to him as I needed to know the name of the tool I was searching for to even do a search elsewhere and he proceeded to tell me that he was right to hang up on me because it was a pointless conversation. No apology for speaking down to me rudely or hanging up. Needless to say, I will never do business here again or recommend this place. It's really sad because I have lived in San Pedro my whole life and so has my whole family, so I try to buy from small businesses. Guess it'll be Home Depot for me from now on. read more

I have never felt more disappointed in a company's customer service or lack of respect. We called yesterday with the full situation, explaining that it would be billed to our landlord, they said it would be fine, that they'd come this morning bright and early. Kevin did, and when it came to payment, acted completely shocked when reminded that it would be charged to an account on file. A simple "hey, my manager didn't let me know this was the situation, and there's nothing I can do on my end here, can you please call him to figure out the solution?" Would have been FINE, because the job was done and I understand that things can get lost in translation, but he was extremely rude, standoffish, said "I don't know what to tell you, here's my card, I'm late to go to another job!" When I called Joe(?) I believe his name is, he said that the woman he spoke to yesterday was a "'liar,' and we never would have said we could bill an account, the person you're trying to bill doesn't even have an account," which is interesting because when I've done business here before, they were able to bill an account on file. The person we wanted to be billed most definitely has an account, as it was just used less than a month ago. Overall, I'd stay away, the attitudes were unnecessary. read more

Called them to correct work done by Lazimi. Got a real locksmith, Gary, who came out same day and corrected two locks at a fair price. The former company sold us an expensive replacement of Baldwin hardware and incorrectly installed it including a too-short cut of the lever. Baldwin replaces failed parts at no cost except labor so we were cheated of $1,700 for unnecessary hardware and the problem remained. Highly recommend San Pedro Lock & Key for competence and honesty. read more

Sad that they call you as you sayvhello they ask you to hold. When they come back to take your phone call they hang up on you. When you call them back all you get is "sorry i missed dialed". When you try to set up an appointment under a contract they brush you off and say that the contract is not vailded. How? When your trying to set up a contract. Under new management/owner and since then service is below standards. I give 3 stars just because of the older man that comes out un the van. Have been using San Pedro lock & key for 38 yrs and my parents had used them for 21yrs before that. Always honest and fast. This time our front door's mortise lock wouldn't unlock, they came to fix it in less than an hour, got the door open and lock working! We thought we might have to drill out the lock, which would have meant a new lock would have required a new lock $$$, and possibly a new door$$$$. Definitely a bargain for under $200.00 and over an hour of labor! read more

Just went to San Pedro Lock & Key to get duplicates for my son's first vehicle. It turned out that even though the truck was a 2003 Ford with zero frills the key still had a chip in it. This made it far more expensive. However the guys at SP Lock & Key made us a free manual key just to see if it would start the truck, it didn't. Also needed a key for passenger side door as it was a different lock. Again I was told it would be far cheaper if we took the lock out ourselves and brought it to them to re-key (a savings of about 100 bucks). The guys also told us where to get replacement locks for the truck box that had been broken into! All around great honest service! read more

We just bought a new home and needed the locks changed so I contacted San Pedro Lock and Key after hours and they called bright and early the next morning. I made an appointment for the next day. Alan arrived a few minutes early and was done super fast (even with 14 locks to change!). He was friendly professional quick and most importantly did not wake up my napping baby! Awesome! Fast! Great customer service. A really nice and quite area. Lots of accessories for keys to choose from. I went here because it was an authorized store for my "keyblades" for the Keyport Slide 2.0. I didn't have to pay a thing...and usually stores that have to give time/money away are the happiest. But they treated me like a paying customer. Since they were so nice, I decided to get another key made at the same time. Not an issue! Was very happy to help me. Parking lot is private and you have to pay at a box. There is street parking but metered I believe. This is on a hill with a slight slope so just FYI on that. Other then that...I wouldn't mind driving here from cerritos if I needed a bunch of keys made or for another keyport slide. If you are in the area, get some keys dup'ed here. But if you just need a single key made, you can always go to you local home depot or lowes and flag a person down to help you. read more

I took them a safe of a customer in January before the lockdown. I was called once the it was ready for pickup. Only once. I did not get a second call to tell me they would sell my customers property if I didn't pick it up. I assumed due to the circumstances of the pandemic they would be understanding or at least call a second time.. the new owner offered no solution or apology for misunderstanding only barked at me as if I was a nuisance to him. Thanks for your understanding of the extraordinary worldwide circumstances after years of loyal services and referrals given to them.
