The plumber replaced a gas line. He then sat in his truck for well over an hour claiming he had to wait for the gas company to come out to ensure there wasn't a leak. Dominion Gas indicated they wouldn't be able to turn the gas on until the following morning! It took the fellow no more than 1.5 hours to install an above ground level gas line. Yet, I was billed for 4 hours of work at $125.00 per hour!! Even if I agreed to pay for the 1 hour plus he sat in his truck the cost should still have been significantly less! I verified with the Dominian Gas Company that there was no need to remain until they came out since the gas was off and they and only they could turn the gas back on the following morning! This isn't about the money! Not at all! We are talking about the disgust myself and folks like me have to endure when hiring people to fix things only to receive a bill that is inflated and then lied to when it is questioned. I'm hoping this only happened to me and others weren't subjected to this type of nonsense. I'm so angry about this that I've done my homework, and should appear in small claims court to argue my case. As I said, the actual parts and labor associated with this gas line repair appear to be legitimate and this $564.00 ($500.00 at $125.00 per hour for a seriously inflated service charge of 4 hours will be paid without delay. I don't have the time nor the energy to argue what I believe is absolute thievery of a consumer. Some will think this is a bit "petty". Maybe so; however, it's simply a matter of principle. Be certain you're paying for a service received that is fair, honest and legitimate.

That should tell you what type of person you would be dealing with. I had firsthand experience with Lucas Board. He did some plumbing work for me and I honestly think a first grader could have done better. Everything he did would not pass code nor inspection. He ruined my vanity, purposely did damage to my shower (IMO) and way overcharged for the work he did. The plumbing line coming out of the wall to the toilet was placed on my baseboard, the shutoff valve was for a dishwasher and he left a hole in the wall. When I brought it to his attention, he asked me, "do you have one of those toilet bowl brushes and a wastebasket?" I answered, "yes".
