They do not run the games. The trainers I had have not participated in CPE events, which is one of the more common agility trials in Michigan. Also, the behavior of one dog and how the owner handled that dog made me not want to return. I got to the point at one class I almost excused myself and my dog due to the treatment of the owner. As it is not the facility's fault or responsibility to control the dog, they should have excuses him and had him join another class such as an obedience class. To have him continue to come each week when the dog is over-active, disobedient, and the owner has to force the dog to the floor is unacceptable. The dog was screamed at, grabbed, and forced down to the ground. We al discipline our dogs differently, but this made me very uncomfortable. They were very nice trainers, but for me, I choose to go elsewhere.

Bonnie is absolutely fantastic! She tailors her approach to each dog and its owner to ensure the two connect and communicate effectively with each other, which makes ALL the difference in training. I've taking a number of training courses with my dog and worked with various trainers, but this is the first time I've felt there's a fantastic balance between instructing the dog and instructing the human. Oftentimes a trainer excels in one and may lack in the other, but Bonnie and Alternative Canine Training excel at both, which helps owner and dog work better as a team. I highly recommend these courses and these trainers to anyone with a dog, no matter if it's a puppy ready to kick off obedience training or an adult dog that could use a brush up. And added bonus is that the class takes place in a pet store, which may be a little frustrating at first since there's a ton of distractions that your dog is working against, but stick with it and your dog will not only learn how to focus through all those distractions but obedience at home without them will be a cake walk. So, we took him to Dan and he has been the best thing to happen to our dobbie. We absolutely love the training he has equipped us to train the dog with no treats or frills. Dan knows dog's psychology so well, he occurs to me as if he's a dog whisperer. He will give you feedback and corrections specific to your dog's behavior along with general commands and training useful to everyone and everyday. Our dog has definite set patterns and can be very stubborn. But as it goes theres no bad dog and only bad training. So, one has to be diligent enough to apply the learnings from the class everyday for the rest of the life of the dog. Been almost 4 weeks and my dogs has started responding exceptionally well. When we took our dobbie for the first time to Dan, I was in awe. It was as if magically Enzo was following everything Dan was asking him to. But here's thing, Dan makes the training look so easy but it's as much a training for you as for the dog. There's so many techniques to learn and apply. Dan has tons of wisdom to share and I absolutely adore Dan's humor. I so regret not getting him sooner to Dan. Nevertheless, it's never too late for anything, certainly not for training your dog right. She…read moreloves animals, her technique is positive reinforcement and she's a good trainer to the humans too! Her agility classes are so fun for the dogs and humans! Her space is comfortable, safe for the dogs and perfectly located downtown Ply. Judy also does 1-1 and home trainings too. She helped get us started with our rescue pup who was afraid of the sound of her own breathing. Judy taught us some key skills which included changing some of our habits in our house. With any animal that had an unknown or came from an abusive previous home, it takes time to help build trust and change some of the behaviors of the animal. With Judy's guidance and our diligence over the last few years to creating a safe and learning environment for our pup, she's a happy, loving, brave and mostly non-reactive dog. There's always skills we need to bring back into our rotation but it's all thanks to Judy to help us along the way. We've recommended her to many people and my mom is active in classes with her new puppy.

It's probably worth noting these reviews seem to be rather dated. Perhaps the management changed or ownership changed. In my experience if the manager had a modicum of common sense she would have offered a discount on a class for the inconvenience they caused.

We used her to even board our dog while we were away for a week and came back to an even better trained dog. Eventually, after training Fidget at home for a while and other training, I decided to train her as a service dog for my social anxiety which is recognized by the ADA as a disability. Working privately with Michael has been amazing. I couldn't believe how much his knowledge about dogs has made such a huge difference in Fidget. The change after just one lesson was evident. I've learned that the e-collar isn't a punishment but rather just a tool to get her attention. Kind of like a tap on the shoulder. With my continuing the training at home and Michael, she's mastered walking on a loose leash, focusing on me versus her surroundings, recall, disregarding other dogs, the necessary tasks to be a service dog and earned her CGC and CGCA.
