Visited Larry's G Subs in Athens yesterday! The dinning room was clean as well as the bathrooms. They also have a patio, but one of the seats was covered with a rug? The employees are friendly and the work quickly. I gave them 4 stars. Tte reason for my rating is because the place was clean, fast and friendly. The sub size was 12 inches for $14.00. Which I think is stretching it. The measure of a giant sub is not just the size of the roll, but the quantity of protein and the ingredients added. In my sub there was approximately 6 oz of protein. Which in my opinion, is lacking. Particularly when you compare it to the bacon burger at Rafferty's, which is 1/2 lb and comes with fries for $14.49 carry out. I like Larry's but the food was just ok. The sandwich had no flavor. No seasoning whatsoever. It was very bland tasting, which took away from the sandwiches appeal. The ingredients were fresh tasting. The temperature of the ingredients impacted the taste, because my sandwich was only luke warm and the lettuce etc was nice and cold, which may have cooled the steak. Publix might be a good option, where you get a 12 oz steak sub, with 8oz of protein for under $12. It will be seasoned to perfection and you can order it online and pick up. Again, I liked Larry's. There meat apparently is hormone free, which is something the other locations don't advertise I just didn't think the value matched the overall experience for my money spent. I still would recommend folks try them out and see what you think. read more

I stopped by Larry's as I was running errands yesterday to grab a quick bite to eat! as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile. I told the young man that I had not been there before and he gave me a few of his recommendations I took him up on the Kongs Club! The sub only took about five minutes for them to prepare, and was delicious!! I did add chips in a drink and my total came out to a little over $13. Overall, it was a great experience! The restaurant was clean the service was great and the food was just as good. Highly recommend if you're in the area! * I also saw that they did catering! First of all they ought to change the name to just Larry's Subs cuz there was nothing giant about the sandwich that I got. The 8" Philly Cheese steak That thing made Subway look Giant and it was 10 bucks. And while most Philly steaks are done with pepper,onions and cheese Larry's offers theirs with onions only( and of course the cheese). Those of us who don't like grilled onions are left with just the steak provolone and bread .Their custom baked bread was nicely chewey but absent any crust and not toasted or even heated. It was more akin to a hot dog bun than a hoagie roll and noticeably smaller in diameter than even the above mentioned Subway version. The steak,as advertised,was really high quality and very tender and tasty and there wasn't any skimping on the portion. The provolone too seemed to be a cut above the usual Sub Shop. Bottom line I expected better from Larry's according to all the hype. Score: overpriced underperformed. read more

What can I say? Their service was so good. Called on the phone, it was ready when I got there, and their customer service was friendly and outgoing. Was the sandwich bad? No, I mean I ate it. Was it the best or even half best cheese steak I've ever had? Well no. It wasn't the best. The bread was bleh, the meat was thick, not enough onions, didn't taste like a cheese steak. Okay so my husband absolutely loves this place. I have to admit their sandwiches are sooo yummy. One of the managers Eric was so nice. So four months ago they added mustard to my husband's sandwich (he hates mustard) so he called and complained .... He spoke with the manager who was super nice, apologetic, and promised him another sandwich. Tonight we were over near Larry's and decided to eat there.
