My husband and I became patients of Dr. Larson in 2021 when our previous (beloved by us) dentist retired and we have been really pleased with every element of Dr. Larson's practice. Starting with his knowledge and skill as a dentist, which my husband describes with praise as "very precise". My late brother was a dentist and I know how difficult a profession it can be for patient interactions, dental artistry and science and running the business elements of a practice and it all has been great here for us to date. Since I read patient reviews before choosing this practice, I thought I'd contribute to the "literature" in the event it helps others decide. THE HYGIENISTS & SCREENING: For dental care of cleanings, the hygienists for both of us do stellar work. That they are such nice women is the icing on the cake. The technology used is state of the art. We feel really confident that the right screening is being done to keep our dental health in top form. THE DENTIST: In addition to being a skilled dentist, Dr. Larson is a nice man who communicates with patients really well to discuss issues and make recommendations. I so appreciated that for a recent dental emergency for me he was available on short notice, fitting me in at the start of the office lunch hour closure, and referred me out to the specialist needed and then even called me at home after hours that evening to discuss the path forward based on specialist review who then referred me to a surgeon. He made recommendations for my husband for discretionary dental work to improve the look of his teeth and it made a big difference for a pretty small investment. He replaced a crown for me and created one for my husband. We trust him to make the right recommendations and do great work. As example of above and beyond, after my hubby had a panorama x-ray done by dental assistant given our previous dentist hadn't done one for five years, Dr. Larson called him to say he was concerned about something he saw in sinus as captured on the XRay. Unknown to Dr. Larson at the time, my husband has been followed semi-annually by ENT for sinus disease following surgery a decade ago and timing was perfect for his ENT follow up the following week to which he took this XRay copy. This is an example of Dr. Larson "looking up" and looking out for his patients. THE FRONT OFFICE STAFF: I see some negative comments on Yelp about the office staff here. Our experience has been 5-star and then some worthy at every step. From making appointments to billing accuracy to great communication skills. And as example of going the extra mile, I left a message during a holiday closure about needing to make an appointment to see Dr. Larson for something he recommended follow up on after my dental surgery. It was not an emergency and I knew the office was closed for several days so I didn't expect to hear from the scheduler until after they reopened. To my surprise, she called me the next day to say she was checking voicemail and knowing what it was I needed to come in for she wanted to get me on the schedule. Very nice, that extra mile. ACCESSIBILITY: I have had multiple sclerosis since college days and at this point several decades into disease progression I need to consider ADA compliance at a dental office to know if I can be a patient there. Even 32 years after ADA you would be astounded how many dental offices are not accessible and that factors in for me in making my choice. For this office there is accessible parking in the lot, a clear path of travel to and through the door. But the exam rooms used for me now would not be possible to access for a wheelchair user due to tight entry into them and space inside. I am on the path to being one of those dental patients who uses a wheelchair and I'm looking forward to seeing how this practice works that out for access...looks like there is a big enough room at the front of the office. I share that here for other people with disabilities who might need to know in their selection of dentist. read more

I had several issues with my last dentist and Dr. Larson was recommended. I had a scheduled appt for a jaw check as my teeth were not hitting right. I accidently came the day before my appt. They not only fit me in but went ahead and corrected the unbalanced crown from the last dentist right away. I am so happy to be out of pain and able to close my mouth properly! I do not recommend Dr. Donald E Larson's dental office. The front desk staff/billing/management is a mess! Out of 40 reviews on Google, I have only left one other 1-star review, but after the time I wasted trying to figure out what I actually owed Dr. Larson's office was a nightmare and deserves the rating. There were some issues with my insurance - which I was aware of. Outside of that though, there were times I would call to pay my bill and be given different totals than what my invoice said. I called to pay off my balance in 2018 and was told I owed less than I thought. I asked numerous times if they were sure and they assured me it was correct. Well... it wasn't and a gift of whitening my mother got me was now a paid expense. There are close to 50 other dentists in the Eagle, ID area. Dr. Larson came recommended to me by our pediatric dentist. I went as far as to schedule appointments for myself and my husband, but finally cancelled after a continuous lack of costumer service and professionalism from the front desk staff. I wrote an email to Dr. Larson (sent to the email address on the website, asking for it to be forwarded to Dr. Larson), and never received a response. I cannot speak to Dr. Larson's dentistry. But the my experience with his staff ruined my experience before it ever really began. read more

I am new in town and visited the office of Dr. Don Larson for a complete check up since it had been a year since my last one. I was taken back right on time and I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the exam. Dr. Larson carefully reviewed not only my dental history, but my medical history as well. X-rays were taken, of course, and he went over them with me discussing areas of concern. He used a small hand held laser to evaluate those areas and explained how the laser functions. He also manipulated my jaw to see if there was misalignment due to restorations that prevented full closure. My former dentist never checked this. I also had a prophylaxis appointment following the appointment with Dr. Larson and the hygienist was also very thorough and gentle. All the staff was friendly and professional and I am very happy that I have found this office. read more

It's always a good experience in Dr Larson's office. This appointment was for a cleaning and Dr Larson always checks in to take a look in the mouth. When I had bridges and crowns and fillings 2 years ago, Dr Larson injected the lidocaine himself. I always require extra and he always remembers, so I no longer have the anxiety I had before with other dentists. read more

I have pretty bad anxiety of going to the dentist from growing up. Dr Larson's staff & himself make me feel at ease & my shaking even stops when I'm there. They don't shame, ridicule or make you feel bad at all for anything (which I've experienced in the past). They make me feel welcome & like I'm not just another paying customer. read more

I was completely impressed with the step by step description of what was going to happen next and the treatment plan with costs already phoned in to the insurance company so I would know what to expect financially. Paid up front for the entirety of my services at an agreed upon price; charged multiple times after the fact for 200+ dollars as well as "financing charges" on top of it. As a new patient Dr Larson was a personal recommendation. I had an emergency and I was seen in a few days--dr Larson took the time to really diagnose the problem thoroughly screened and recognized the need for a follow up to a specialist. I cannot begin to thank you and your husband enough for helping me out today. Thank you for quickly getting me in and for the kindness all your staff showed me. Dr. Larson greeted me in the waiting area almost immediately, and made me feel welcomed and comforted. The entire procedure went very smoothly. The assistant was so skilled, always reassuring and it was done with sincerity and compassion. They are quite the team! Dr. Larson is an amazing dentist, not only with his skill set as a dentist, but also with his chair-side manners that reassured me every step of the way. But best of all, this is the very first time, in a long, long time that I didn't feel beat up after having dental work done. Besides my gums being just a little tender (which is totally to be expected...) there is no part of my mouth that still hurts. It's almost as if I had nothing done today. My bite feels really good and I think the work looks beautiful!!! My one and only regret is that I didn't make the switch to Dr. Larson earlier. Good and straightforward dentist. I switched to this practice a few years ago because my old dentist kept pushing a very expensive service that didn't seem related to the problem I had. I went for a second opinion and Larson told me that the recommendation made no sense and gave me some common sense approaches that have worked fine. read more

Let me tell ya! I moved here a year and a half ago from Southern California and a town known for excellent dentists, Mine down south was one indeed. This was the main reason it took me so long to find a local dentist. When the need arose that I had to se a dentist right away, Dr. Larson's name came up from a few local friends, so I called. While sitting in the waiting room filling out my new patient paperwork, I was surprised by a young woman who came out and sat on the couch to get to know me and make me feel right at home. From that point on over the last couple of visits, I have found Dr Larson and his entire staff to be an amazing group of people. I highly recommend Dr. Larson's practice (And I don't usually make recommendations) for anyone looking for a Dentist who is not only capable, which his most certainly is, but an environment that takes all of the usual factors of "Hating to go to the Dentist" completely out of the picture.
