I know of the area history as once being a part ol Mexico and decided to try this place. It's very colorful inside. I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy since it was a little late and asked if they had coctel de camarones. I didn't see it on the menu. I was surprised when it came out as a caldo. I got the chicken taquitos and a diet coke, everything was delicious including the chips and salsa. I can't believe I ate that entire appetizer, but it was so darn good! The app was a bit pricey though at 12.25, but I can't complain too much because it was a lot and so yummy. read more

Ate at Las Camelinas this week and food was delicious as always. We were pleased to find out they have a wonderful back patio for dining during Covid. This is a great little Mexican Restaurant in downtown Salida. I got the shrimp fajitas and my boyfriend got the chicken mole enchiladas. Both dishes were excellent. Always great service. I have been here twice, and I really like this place. It's not the greatest Mexican food I have ever had, but it's up there in the top 10%. The service is fantastic and the server (I have had the same one twice) is very enthusiastic and knows his menu. First time I had the fish tacos and they were very good, second time was a shrimp special (i can't remember the name, sorry) and it was wonderful. The margarita's were said to be from scratch but they tasted like a mix. Overall I think the food could be spiced up a bit but it is American, land of the bland, so I just have to suck it up. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area, you won't be knocked off your feet, but you won't be disappointed either. read more

Absolutely LOVED this place. We were staying in Mt. Princeton and went to Salida for the fantastic food. The food at Las Camelinas did not disappoint -- it was incredibly good with freshly prepared ingredients, many of them homemade. Even the presentation of our meal was done with care. Probably the best Mexican food I have eaten and I've eaten a lot. Both my husband and I are vegetarian and we had no problem finding wonderful meals. Be sure and enjoy a margarita. Hands down the best Mexican food we've had in a long time. They also stayed open 2 hours late so we could eat. Everyone else in town stopped serving food by 9 PM. We had the Molcajete and it was amazing. My girlfriend and I ate our fill of this massively delicious dinner and still were able to take a bunch home. They also made their margaritas strong. What a delightful couple of owners. We had come in only once before, months ago and she remembered our order. The husband took great care of us. His skinny margaritas were both big and strong. Better yet, they were good. Our dinners were great. My fried fish, shrimp and octopus especially so. The service was quite frankly the worst I've experienced in decades. We were shamed for not ordering margaritas, even though it was the middle of the day and we were with kids. Then shamed for not ordering more food. Then the waiter purposefully doubled one of the orders, refused to take the food back when we informed him and then refused to take the additional charge off. When we spoke to management he backed up the waiter saying it was our fault because we ordered only water and because we asked for extra chips. We stopped in on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. I wasn't able to check Yelp before picking a restaurant, so we were flying blind. I wanted some good Mexican food and this fit the bill. It was a little pricier than we were hoping but about on par with what you might expect in a touristy town. The chips were tasty but we never figured out which of the two salsas was supposed to be spicy. Our combo plates (one enchilada, one tamale) were good. We recently visited this quaint Mexican restaurant. I liked the fact that the had various sides a solo dishes so you could get a taste of various dishes. We came here shorty after they opened following covid shutdowns. As a party of 5, came in about 8pm on a Friday night and sat in the charming back patio area. Plenty of seating back there and was very tastefully decorated and had great summer evening ambiance. The wait staff was very courteous and friendly. The menu had a great variety at fair prices. The combination plates were a great value. The 3 choice combination was a huge plate, very shareable and so delicious. Ordered two combination plates and Aquachile to share and had leftovers. We all agreed it was some of the best Mexican we've had. The crispy Chilerellano was amazing. The shredded beef had great flavor and the Aquachile was deliciously spicy. The margaritas were great for $9! Adan was a great waiter and was very attentive to our needs as were everyone else we encountered. Last night we decided to go visit Las Camelinas. I'm always a little reluctant on eating out when it comes to Mexican food . Since I cook homemade Mexican food at home. But I was tired of burgers. Oh well we are on vacation and decided to go for it. Walking into restaurant it's decorated really cute Mexico theme. The service was good . We got seated right away and they took our drink order. We hadn't look through the menu before they came and asked to take out order. I ordered the chili relleno combo. My husband ordered an enchiladas. The relleno was different in what I'm used to. But to my surprise was very good! The beans and rice were also pretty good. The service size was good not too big. The enchiladas my husband said, they were ok but mine were better:) overall we would definitely come back . read more

Wife and I ordered small portion of fajitas to split and even though the amount of food was adequate and actually quite good, it came with only two tortillas. We asked for more tortillas and when the bill arrived it showed $1.75 for the whopping 3 additional tortillas. I mentioned it to the waiter and he sent over the manager. This individual is the lone reason why this place gets only one star. He had a very pompous and condescending approach to the situation. I explained that I wasn't going to argue with him, I was just giving him feedback on how to make his restaurant better. I've been to probably hundreds of Mexican restaurants all over the US and never received only two tortillas with fajitas. Well the non-customer focused manager claims it's not that way in Salida. Absolutely DISGUSTED by this food. We picked up our food at five after ordering chicken, cheese, and rice. I took one bite and threw up. We literally went and immediately gave it to the goats outside. I am very upset and would never recommend this place. Way overpriced! Paid $34 to get one bite of food that didnt even go down. If you are going for chips and guacamole this is the place, if you're going for dinner DON'T! Service was horible the server threw plates on the table and walked away, I ordered fajitas and had to ask for my tortillas he dropped 2 at the table and never saw him again. I love Mexican restaurants that have a festive feel and look. I would give this restaurant an A in that department. One thing that was a definite turn off was in the middle of the restaurant there was a ton of decorations and a large plant that had not been dusted in over a year. Once I see this type of attention to detail being ignored, I wonder what's happening in the kitchen. The waiter was very polite but less than warm. Service was good and the food was average. It was 11:30 a.m. on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was almost empty. I would try again to see how their dinner meals compared to some of the other Mexican restaurants I've tried in Colorado. read more

Very good. Crispy Chili relleno was cooked perfectly. The pinto beans were perfect as was the rice. I got busy right st .6pm.

If you have children, don't even think about coming here. We waited for our table, and two other tables that arrived after we did, and didn't have any children, had their drinks served and order taken before we were even asked for drinks (which we never were). We received chips and had to ask the the person at the front for water. After 15 minutes of no interaction, we got up to leave, and they didn't even seem sorry about it. All we can venture to guess is that they do not want children here. They've lost our business permanently. read more
