The guacamole was good but not very spicy (I like spicy ). The chicken fajitas were awesome! Served sizzling hot without a ton of oil and lots of fresh peppers and onions. I recently tried them again for delivery (DoorDash), since it had been so long and they were literally the only place around with a pork milenesa torta. Updating my review to 4 stars! The refried beans were super yummy and had a little kick to them, the steak nachos were loaded and actually had steak (not ground beef), and my husband said the burrito was perfect. [QUICK TAKE] : Las Cazuelitas is not equipped for providing the same take-out/delivery quality as if you were to eat in-house. Do not order to-go. [LONG VERSION] : We've eaten here before and have had great tacos, burritos, and chimichangas. No question that the typical options are delicious and worth the cost. This time around, we ordered several new items, and here's what happened: My son ordered the Torta, which tasted great, but due to the elapsed time in the delivery process (who knows how long it was actually sitting in the bag), much of the bread became soggy and wet and eventually inedible. No one likes a soggy sandwich, unless it's an Italian Beef dipped. My wife ordered the Carne Asada dinner (which online was $18.95, but somehow we were billed $21.95 instead), and when she opened up the platter, there were very small portions of the included sides. The flavor was decent, but for sure, we won't be ordering this again, because the amount of food for $22 was not up to par and there are other Mexican restaurants in the area with comparable steak options that are at least $5 less than this. Lastly, I ordered the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo and the picture looks so delicious on the website. I'm not sure what happened, but there was NO Ajo SAUCE on the shrimp and no side container to add the sauce! It was good, in the sense that my daughter, who prefers unseasoned shrimp, was able to have some with me, but I was really hoping to taste that savory garlic sauce. Ordered carryout tonight. And it was dreadful. We ordered a combo #3 which is a pork tamale, flauta and a cheese chili rellenos. The tamale was cooked to death, the masa was hard. While maneuvering around trying to find something edible it took several seconds to realize that was a tamale. The flauta was burnt to a crisp. It was dark brown to black. My meal came later because they were out of the Chicken tamales (I originally ordered chicken then changed to pork when they told me they were out). You would think that my food would have been the freshest meal at the table. And you would be wrong. The flouta was hard as a rock and looked like they re-fried a leftover flouta. The chicken inside was so dry it was stringy. They brought me another flouta. Guess what? Not as hard, but just as old and disgusting. The tamale was definitely not freshly made. It wasn't even served in a husk! Tasted like something from the freezer. Best food on my plate was the cheese enchilada. THAT was very delicious. I also devoured the refried beans as that's always my favorite part of any Mexican dinner. Best part of our dinner was the appetizer of chips and three salsas served same time as our waters. The ambiance is only three stars. Rather cheap tables, chairs, etc. so if you are looking for upscale reset your expectations. Their sauces are five star awesome. Every sauce was great but their green sauce is simply the best I ever had: so much flavor and there is a great burn. I love enchiladas so I got the Enchiladas Verde with ground beef (sore teeth from braces change). The Enchiladas Verde was excellent: there was a bright, citrus flavor to the sauce with a good burn from spice. They bring a small shell filled with refried beans and that was a nice treat. My son had the chimichanga and it was excellent: really flavorful. The only negative was my wife's meal where the flauta was rather hard (the first one was harder than the second but neither was good). I will come again but we will stick to enchiladas and chimichangas. read more

Ugh, let me tell you how disappointing this place is. I ordered los camarones a la plancha (grilled shrimp) and received 5 tiny FRIED shrimp. The waitress and I sent it back because we thought they made a mistake in the back I need to find out we were wrong. THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FRIED. My husbands meal was also disappointing. He received a few pieces of chicken and a little cup of beans. This place is overpriced and the dishes have no flavor. They try to make up a dish by adding a "salad" and French fries. There was only a small strip of cheese, not melted, the sauce was the worst I ever tasted. The rice was dry and even the beans were dry. They told me it came with guacamole and sour cream, there was none on any of the dishes or on the side. The meal was $31.78 for Burrito Regular dinner, too dry to even eat. and Combination Enchilada with an extra enchilada. Fast food would have been better. Not going back ever. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon Las Cazuelitas when we were going out to eat at the Hibachi Grill a couple doors down from here. We were walking up to the Hibachi when I noticed this new restaurant, so we decided to try it. We started with a margarita. On the drink menu they have a lot of exotic drinks including several types of margaritas at varying costs. I just told the waiter we would like just two classic margaritas. Even though they were very good, to my surprise when I got the check the margaritas cost $10.99 each. I thought it was a little expensive for a glass of ice and a little margarita mix. They brought us a small basket of chips and salsa. There were three different salsas to choose from. A red salsa, a green salsa, and a ceviche. The red and green salsas were really bland, but the ceviche was tasty. They only filled the little bowls half way. We finished the ceviche with only about half the chips that were given to us. I asked the waiter for some more and he proceeded to tell me he would have to charge me. Whatever, I asked him to bring me more. For dinner my wife had the three taco dinner. It came with beans and rice. She said it was all very good. I had the spicy Shrimp A La Diabla. Finally for once, the shrimp was spicy. Unfortunately, the shrimp they used seemed to me that it was already cooked shrimp from a bag and when they heated them up with the sauce it over cooked the shrimp. As for the sauce, it started out tasting fine but as my tongue got used to the spice, it had a sweet taste to it. I'm not a fan of the sweet and spicy combo. Along with my meal was rice, seasoned french fries, garlic bread, and some salad greens. The rice was a white rice with maybe some peppers cooked with it. My wife's rice was the Spanish rice that was yellow and cooked with vegetables. The fries were very good and came out very hot and crispy. I thought it was just weird being served fries with a spanish meal. All in all, the meal was ok and the waiter was very nice. I may give this place another try. My boyfriend and I have dined here a handful of times and have always had a pleasant experience. The food was always delicious and the portion sizes always seemed to coincide with the prices on their menu. Recently, we decided to order takeout from them for the first time. We ordered our usual in addition to a side of queso and a side of rice and beans to go with one of the meals . We knew from past dining experiences what portion sizes to expect. When we opened our to go bag we were appalled! The side of queso they charged us $1.99 for was literally a PINCH of shredded cheese in a tiny cup. The side of rice and beans they charged us $3.50 for were also placed in tiny cups and barely filled. We literally could have gone to the grocery store to get a side of queso, rice and beans for cheaper than what the charged us for! After discovering that we were ripped off we gave them a friendly call to inform them that we were not satisfied. The lady on the phone, non apologetically, said her manager would be out for one week and that there was nothing they could do for us. Terrible customer service on top of it! At least take our name and number down and pretend you might call us back. HA! After that experience I doubt we will be returning. I would rather give my money to Taco Bell. P.S. My wife and I dined there for the first time on Mexican Independence Day And was decorated for the holiday. Of course we looked at the menu before going and it is quite extensive. It is notable that there are a very large variety of seafood items on the menu. It has an unobtrusive storefront strip mall entrance but is very welcoming inside. The food was delicious. What I noticed is that the picture on the menu is what is presented on your plate. Not many places like that! The green sauce (not salsa verde) in the squirt bottle that they serve is to die for. It's a complex sauce of dairy/herbs/spices/peppers. I will try to copy at home. The food was very tastefull and cooked to perfection. Gorditas and sopes are on my to do list next visit. This is one of our favorite places in the area. We've become regulars, the food it really good, drinks are awesome and service is friendly. Out favorite dishes are the Tampiqueña, the surf and turf (Mar y Tierra), enchiladas suizas, the pozole is great but super hot in temperature, we've also had the piña rellena (stuffed pineapple) and the molcajete. Today we came for breakfast and had the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. The tamarindo margarita is amazing, the michelada patron on point, and something not on the menu is the white claw (Mexican style). Hope you all enjoy your stay here. read more

Honestly probably my favorite vegetarian tacos I've had, and all my coworkers loved their meaty tacos. Very reasonably priced for dinners and for individual pieces. This place is amazing! It's a little hidden gem in a strip mall. I grew up the area and have never heard anyone talk about this place. Well, that most definitely needs to change!! We grocery shop frequently at Joseph's Marketplace and have always wanted to tryout LAS CAZ (easier for me say)...so, we finally did. It was a great decision. I suppose it is a telling sign when a mexican restaurant is quality and the real deal when nearly every table is filled with hispanics... that was the case on the Friday night that we went. I consider this place to be an "upscale" mexican restaurant compared to the taquerias that we usually choose to dine at. The food was top notch and so was the service (we had a guy and he was very helpful in navigating the extensive menu options). He informed us that they specialize in seafood dishes, so I had to try the Ceviche... it was awesome and will keep me coming back! My favorite taco was the Al Pastor...pineapple and all! We had Horchata (very good), but didn't get around to sampling any of the alcoholic drinks (we were with the little ones), so that will be on the next trip. They have lots of flat screens TVs, so if you want to catch a game (soccer was on) you'll have many tables with a view. read more

I called the restaurant to place an order for pick up. The girl on the phone left me hanging while she talked to people in the background.....for a long time. Seemed VERY disorganized. I placed my order for pick up. She said it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, I see take out bags waiting to be picked up...none with my name on the bag. Finally, after being ignored for 10 minutes standing by the cashier desk, a man comes to help me. I tell him I'm here to pick up an order for ChrisTina. He says, "it's gone." I say "What do you mean, it's gone?" He says "It WAS here but I don't see it anymore, someone must have grabbed your bag and took it home." I'm seriously staring at him, speechless, not even knowing what to say. I waited 45 minutes for my dinner, drove all the way to this place, only to find out my dinner was given to someone else. Unbelievable...but not so surprised by the lack of customer service on the phone when placing the order. The thing that gets me though is that he was just like....oh well. NO APOLOGY or anything! Disappointed once more...this makes the fourth time that we have ordered food to be delivered and has arrived completely wrong. Two orders of four plain steak tacos with lettuce and avocado on the side. Sounds pretty simple and easy but I was wrong. This is the order I received. All tacos with extra onions, cilantro and avocado. The order was placed on grub hub @ 6:21PM. Immediately after placing the order @6:22PM, my wife calls the restaurant to reiterate the tacos should all be plain with lettuce and avocado on the side. The manager confirmed plain tacos. After receiving the messed up order, my wife calls back to talk to the manager and let him know that once again they have screwed up the order after talking to him and him confirming the order. The manager's response was "Oh, the order was out for delivery when you called." To my surprise, they made the order and were already on route to deliver only one minute after receiving the order from GrubHub. After asking for a refund and letting the manager know to call the driver and have him come back to pickup the order, his response "You can eat the food!" Aside from being livid that my order was a complete debacle, this manager who handled the special request for my order was being a jerk about the situation. Unfortunately in the Crystal Lake area the choices for Mexican food are very limited. And that is why we continued to order from them even though we had experienced issues in the past. I'm not in the restaurant business but as a patron even I could figure out a way to remedy the situation and make things right with the customers. OMG!!! So good! I ordered a steak chimichanga, my husband had a torta with lingua and we ordered my very picky 5 year old daughter a steak burrito. The food was AMAZING!!! We had to remove any signs of lettuce from the burrito in order for my daughter to eat it which was an easy fix because it was all on one side. She ate half and declared it was so good 'I could eat this my whole life!' That's a win considering she would only eat pizza or McDonald's cheeseburgers (we recently told her that they closed all the McDonald's so we can't go there anymore). The green hot sauce that came on the side was the most delicious green sauce I've ever had. It was creamy and packed a punch. I want extra just to keep in the house so I can put it on everything!!!
