This is a LATE night Mexican food restaurant but it isn't cheap like Robertos, Rigobertos or Vallartas. They have proper Sit down style Mexican food. Came here past 10 pm, the atmosphere was lively, and the food was delicious just like any restaurant in Old Town San Diego.

Bruno was our amazing server assisted by Milton and Eliezer. All three of them were stellar in the customer service, professionalism and kindness. We started with margaritas which were so good and yes, the chips, salsa and bean dip were delicious as well. My wife ordered the Chili Colorado and I have the premium steak fajitas. The food is amazing. The manager Benjamin stopped by and introduced himself and wanted to check on customer satisfaction as well. Amazing service here at Sol Agave. Milton followed up regarding a potential for dessert and my wife ordered the tres leches cake to go. The best Mexican food around and a nice ambiance with authentic dishes and background music. Highly recommended

Drinks came first! The food took 40 minutes, so thinking it had to be good! And it was! Very fresh and clean tasting. Chips are served with salsa and refried beans super delicious! The only thing I didn't like was that the ceilings are high and not sound protected so it's very noisy and echoes. We had to yell at each other for conversation. The service was really nice and friendly. Also, it's pricey, worth it, but pricey!

I went with…read moremy dad tonight and we shared chicken tacos, a steak quesadilla, and an order of the taquitos....they were all incredible (the steak quesadilla was my personal favorite, however). The chicken tacos were VERY big, I came hungry and I have a large appetite to say the least and one of those tacos itself was pretty filling. Both salsas on it were delicious (they offer a red and green one)! I also threw on a little bit on onion, cilantro and rice and it was even better. Easily the best taco I have ever had. The quesadilla had the best chew on it that is hard to describe in words.....it was slightly crispy on the outside yet a little soft and the flavor on the cheese that was so perfect. The cheese even had that melted and chewy feel to it that just makes your head want to explode because it can't comprehend how something could be so good. The taquitos were so nice and crispy and had such a pleasant blend of all the flavors it packs in its shell, you really get all of them in each bite. They are so generous with their portions in it and fill up the tray all the way to the top. This place is a gift, run here don't walk.

The store is split between savory and sweet. I ordered a few tacos (carnitas, cabeza, and lengua). The full size tacos are quite large and filling. I have to remember to order the street taco version. The flavor is good and with the salsa it hits the spot. I also ordered the menudo to dip my tacos in. Paired the food with some horchata and agua fresca. The service can be a bit slow, maybe because it is usually busy. One thing to note is that you will need to order the drink with your savory order but pick up is on the other side with the sweets.

Plenty of seating, they had indoor and outdoor. They also had a large bar with indoor and outdoor seating as well that was first come first serve and since we had to wait for table, we decided to go into the bar. We were greeted quickly and given chips and salsa and waters. The service was delightful from bussers to the bartender to the waiter ... just outstanding. Very attentive! We opted to order fresh guac, which was made at our table and absolutely delicious pairing with the chips and salsa. It was wonderful. We also shared the chicken fajitas. They were cooked well although I could've used a little more seasoning and came with our choice of corn or flour tortillas along with beans and rice as a side. A must try if you're in the mood for Mexican.

My wife and I both got extremely sick after our meal. We ordered the presidents meal and combination fajita. I had diarrhea pretty much the second I got home, while my wife spent the entire night vomiting and having diarrhea. She was up all night, which meant I barely slept either. Nothing says "romantic dinner" quite like taking turns checking on each other at 3am. Unfortunately, it got serious enough that my wife ended up at urgent care the next day with severe dehydration and weakness. The healthcare providers gave her IV fluids and medication to help her recover. And as if that wasn't enough, the food took forever to come out. At the time, we thought we were just waiting for a carefully prepared meal. In hindsight, we probably should have taken it as extra time for our digestive systems to prepare for battle. The ambiance is definitely nice, but unfortunately, neither of us is eager to come back. We came for dinner and left with a complimentary night of gastrointestinal excitement that we definitely didn't order.
