I don't tend to come here much as the grass bothers my allergies, but it's a lovely walk in Fall and hooks right up to the nearby trail.

I'm always finding the most wonderful little spots in this city. Been meaning to visit this park for a loooong time. I'd always heard that it was nice. Even drove passed it a million times, but finally stopped by to get a quick little hike in one evening. All I can say is daaaayum. What a beauty!!! Not only are the hiking trails wonderful, but the actual park itself is great. It's super clean with lots of parking and restrooms on site. They've got a kid's playground area, a soccer field, and even a track for some easy exercise. There's also an adjoining park that has tons of picnic tables and outdoor exercise equipment as well as several large grassy fields and walking paths (Hidden Valley Park). And those lakes! They are simply beautiful. They really sneak up on you too. I took a short walking path from Hidden Valley Park and connected to Hidden Lakes. Turned a corner and then BOOM! This beautiful little lake seemingly appeared out of nowhere. There's a nice little waterfall. Not sure if there are actually any fish in this lake, but I did witness one person fishing (or at least trying too). The hikes in this park are all on the shorter side but perfect for a quick little jaunt. You can also extend it by connecting the nearby walking paths for a longer excursions. What's nice is that there are several hills that you can climb up to get some inclines in. And once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with some wonderful views of tbt entire park as well as some great panoramic views of the city. I was seriously in awe during my entire time here. This is such a gorgeous and extremely well maintained park that's perfect for kids, pets, and families. Will definitely be getting my butt out here again before the end of summer.

It is also very much baseball-centric with multiple baseball fields, batting cages, etc. There is also a large grass field that could be used for a variety of other activities, including soccer. Although I'm not sporty, I do like local parks and beautiful spaces for people of all ages to participate in physical fitness activities. There are a a few picnic sites with 7-8 tables each and two are nicely covered with giant shade structures. There are also lots of water fountains, garbage/recycling bins, and lots of individual picnic tables and benches. There are bathrooms and a snack shack on one side, but I think those may just be for use during baseball games. There is a small playground and they seem to have plans to upgrade.

This park is located right of the 242, its easy to access with lots of parking. The kids get to play in a small scale castle, stores, and boat spaces to keep them entertained. Every time we come here, our older son just runs around until we say it's time to go home. We go for walks in the neighboring park and fields to get some exercise in as well. Check out this park if you're in the Concord/Martinez area to discover something new. They recently updated the fields nearby and parking lot. They have food trucks on the weekends. It's very popular with dog walkers but not much to see in terms of flowers or landscaped scenary. Lots of trees that look wind blown and tired. There's a warning about coyotes. This is supposed to be coyote territory so I was scared to venture beyond the busier main area to explore. There's also a small community garden nearby but it's locked up and you can't enter it but it's super small so you can see pretty much everything from the outside of the fence. A bit of a sad park. I recommended Blake Garden in Kensington which has very limited hours but there's so much more to see there and it's also free.

We have a park closer to home but parking is hard to find, Ygnacio Valley Park has a nice parking lot with about 20 spots. They have a nice large grassy area with a circular trail to get some walking in or walk the dog. In our case, our toddler loves to run into the field and follow us on the trail to run. We both win because he gets to burn off some energy and has fun walking towards any dogs. They have two play areas for toddlers and bigger kids along with swings and a sand area. This has become our go to park and I find myself here very often. We love our Family walks and have made friends here. You have a sense of Community when you visit.

I'm not often in this section of Concord, but on a recent weekday morning I had some time to kill…read morewhile my poor wife was getting gum surgery. I remembered this park from the distant past and decided to stop by. Time looks like it has stopped for the past decade or so here, in both good (the park itself) and bad ways (the playground). It's nice that there is a playground, and a decent sized one at that, but it looks tired and is badly need of a refresh. That said, it was getting a good amount of use on a weekday mid morning, as was the park itself. I went for a nice walk around the track, which my pedometer measures as 1/3 of a mile. The circular track lets you put together as short or long a workout as you have ability and time for. The track is unpaved but flat, perhaps a little bumpy for wheelchairs but passable. The one annoying thing is that it was muddy in many places, in spite of no rain for months. The lovely park on Cowell Avenue suffers from the same syndrome. I wish the sprinklers that maintain the grass could be wholly focused on the lawn and not the walking path. In some areas the grass was brown and the adjacent track was muddy. A good amount of picnic tables are here, as well as public bathrooms. A baseball backstop and home plate (a rarity these days) remains. Various mature trees add to the setting. BART tracks are just outside one side of the park and I saw three trains go by in the time I was here.
