This is probably one of the strangest parks that I have ever frequented... probably because I don't really view it as a "park". At any given time, you will probably find graffiti sprayed on the ground and rocks, beer bottles, cigarettes, and sometimes even broken glass. I always make it a point to look down at the ground when I do decide to take a short stroll through the trails. And when I say short, I mean SHORT! The longest trail is probably only about a quarter mile long. However, I don't come here to walk the trails. This place ironically provides me with a sense of solace during my time of need. You can say what you want about the upkeep, but this park has some of the most amazing views of the East Bay. In the summertime, I come here often just to take in the beautiful views of Mount Diablo. I've come here during the Fourth of July to watch the fireworks and it has always been amazing. Although I enjoy hiking, there are those times when I don't feel like hiking for miles just to get to a view point. I can just take a short drive down Taylor boulevard, park my car and post. There have been times when I don't want to go out but I don't want to be stuck at home. When I feel like this, I will often hop in my car and drive to this park. Sometimes I don't even get out of the car. I'll just bump my music and roll my seat back and just relax. The parking lot is small and has maybe about 8 parking spots maximum, but it is almost never full. People don't stay here for a long time, so there usually are always a few parking spots available. I've had quite a few memories coming here and it almost always ends up being so nostalgic when I visit. I've never walked down to the creepy old house nearby because, well... it just looks super creepy! I don't need to walk down there to find that out; I can already feel it from a distance. When they DO take the time to clean this place up, it's actually not half bad. It's one of my favorite places to go when I need to clear my mind. I'm so happy that this place even exists.

Hahah This park is laughably bad. Of course, I wasn't stoned and there's no nostalgia factor for me. I just took it on face value and damn, what a disappointment. Small parking lot for 4 cars + 1 handicapped spot, just in case you wanted to take your wheelchair up a dirt hill covered in broken glass and graffiti to drink your 40 in peace. This might be an okay vista point for fireworks on the 4th of July, but even then you're better off going to the Martinez Marina - at least there you can throw your cigarette butts into the delta and bypass the grassfire hazard. As we got in the car on the way out, we scared the shit out of a bunch of middle school girls passing around a bong in their parents' Honda. If you're looking to get smoked out by Hannah Montana, this is your park. We shall not return.

Nice little over look of the valley. Nice little hike if you're so inclined. Or just sit at the top and take in the views

It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a party, a walk, for dogs, to take your kids... just about everything! Lots of big grassy fields and tall trees that provide a ton of shady areas. There are tons of kids play areas with slides, swings, and other rides that I'm still trying to figure out?! Yeah... some of those rides look a little strange, but I digress... They have picnic tables galore! You can reserve one of the picnic areas for special events and parties. The last time I was here, someone was throwing a party for their little girl here. It's truly the best spot to do it at! You have a grill and so many tables to host people. This park is connected to a small swim center that has a pool and the most adorable little water slides! It's a hop and a skip away from the Lindsay Wildlife museum. There's a basketball, tennis, and volleyball court on site and restrooms are easily accessible. What I love about this park is that one of my favorite walking and hiking trails runs right through it: the Briones to Mount Diablo Trail! You can park at Larkey Park and take this trail all the way to Acalanes Ridge and even to the backside of Briones Regional Park! It's apart of Walnut Creek open space. There are a few other local walking trails that connect here as well. On nice sunny days, this park fills up with a ton of locals but it never feels overcrowded. Sometimes they have community activities that can be seen on their posted calendar. There's a small parking lot off of 1st and Buena Vista Street but there's also plenty of street parking on many of the side streets. It's a great local park with tons of activities.

A nice walking path goes through the good-sized park, offering wonderful views of the lush lawn and large mature trees. A host of families with their young children were enjoying the playground areas, and locals with their canine companions were out too. A few picnic tables are available, or - as one young woman did - just spread out your towel and have lunch on the lawn. After walking for a while we found a bench near the edge of the park and just vegged out soaking up the sun. A swim center and nice pool is here, although it looks like it's only used in the summer for recreational and limited lap swimming - an under-used facility in my mind. Why not year-round lap swimming? Next door is the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and although it was closed (open Weds-Sun), a young docent had a red tailed hawk with her and was giving a nice educational spiel. There is no dedicated parking - the one negative. Street parking nearby or in the neighborhoods is the only alternative.

There are so many overrated parks around - this is not one of them. I think its an underrated park in an underrated city. Martinez is one of these cities that just isn't Walnut Creek or Danville or Orinda. A more affordable city and a family friendly one. Its good to get out and take a walk. I recommend you do that once in a while and why not try a different park from what your used to every once in a while? If you have a dog they will particularly love it sniffing around someplace new. Some of the park is noticed from the main road - Morello. You might even see some people enjoying the basketball hoop from there. Just the 'curb appeal' of the park will get you interested to see more. When I got here with Sweets had in gear this launch mode I hadn't seen since he was a bit younger. His enthusiasm was intense and I was surprised since for the most part he just likes to stay at home - Netflix and chill. There really is something for the whole family to enjoy here. A very underrated park that you need to make time to see one day soon.

This park is located right of the 242, its easy to access with lots of parking. The kids get to play in a small scale castle, stores, and boat spaces to keep them entertained. Generally it's a nice little playground. A couple of things though, I think I went when it was a little warm, it had this strange smell of either melted crayons or microwaved plastic. Something didn't sit right. The other thing was that I noticed that there were a lot of different trucks driving by (garbage, moving, transport, vans, regular trucks). Maybe people just drive a lot of trucks in the area, I'm not too sure. There's a lot of shade outside of the park but inside could get pretty warm. I'm not sure if I'd come back, but at least I know it's there!
