Not only what is this the worst Mexican food we have ever had it's probably the worst dining experience between both food and condition of the restaurant. I ordered something relatively simple steak and chicken tacos both of which were over spiced, overcooked and stale. The back of the restaurant has junk all over the place bicycles and boxes. The food was horrible and over price I ordered 1 quesadilla of cochinitina pibi 3 tacos and 2 popusas and when I went to pick it up I saw they had tamales for $2 I got 3 to give them a try. The lady over charged me each tamal was $2.50 when her sign said $2 and the price on her website for quesadillas was $6.76 she charged me $10 and for the tacos in the website was $2.50 she charged me $3.59. I'm impressed, dudes. First and foremost, as you've likely heard, the tortillas are top-tier, homemade, with corn masa delivered daily. Second, the fillings -- I've tried the roasted poblano [fave], mushroom, and beans/cheese (deep in the veg game over here, amigos) -- were ample and delicious. Loads of options. Next visit, I'm dying to try the huitlacoche ("corn smut" [I prefer "huitlacoche," personally]). They'll toss a side of guacamole (fantastic and fresh) in a cup for $0.75; a total deal. Salsas are fresh as hell and numerous. Third, m'lady and I'd just been discussing our love of alfajores and lamenting that we hadn't seen any since moving to the area. Behold, upon the counter, returning our gaze, alfajores in two varieties (with and without powdered sugar). I'm pulling back on the yoke of my usual superlative-laden review and just being real level and honest, here: Visit, eat, enjoy. A "quecas" is like a quesadilla. It's a large, homemade oval corn tortilla filled with your choice of toppings and cheese for about $4. It's a good deal. They'll also do separate toppings on each half of your quecas. We tried the pork loin, chicken, steak, and beans. I didn't care for the pork or chicken, but the steak and beans were very good. They also have a salsa bar w/ 2 hot and 2 medium salsas, onions, pico, lettuce, and sour cream. The quecas are a great deal but won't satisfy an American appetite that's used to Chipotle portions. However, you can order 2 quecas for $8 and have more than enough food. The service was polite and prompt, and there are probably 10 tables or so to dine in. Also a good place to order to go. They also have burritos, tortas, and tacos. All in all, it's a great value w/ a homemade taste! read more

A friend of mine recommended Las Quecas & let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! The decor is quaint and homey; several tables line the ordering/kitchen area. When we were there, every single one was was full, which was a very good sign. The portions are HUGE, and everything is made to order. I couldn't believe how cheap my meal was, less than $10 for an al pastor quesadilla and jamaica drink. I appreciated the fixings bar, which had sour cream, a few salsas, queso, and lettuce. I do wish they had little condiment cups so that I could try out more than one. The 2 salsas that I tried burned SO GOOD, but they were still flavorful at the same time. A little squirt of sour cream helped to cool the burn and was much appreciated. I was happy to find out that there are a few locations closer to my house, because I could definitely see this becoming a regular meeting spot. read more

However on my last visit , the steak burrito was a greasy mess. No rice just steak beans and a few other fillings. Since it's been so good in the past I will try it again. So thankful I found this gem today. New to the area and always hoping to find that good local Mexican place. This was not good. It was excellent. I wanted to try all of the filling choices because they all sounded amazing and authentic. They don't have salad but they gladly helped me customize a burro (sans tortilla) for my wife. I ordered her the pull pork. It was spicy for her but she gladly met the challenge because it was so tasty. I ordered an asada and a cochinita pibil. Both fantastic. The hot salsa was very hot but very flavorful. I have a high threshold and this stuff was good and hot! But it took the asada to a whole new level! Poblano side was a nice change of pace. They have some other ones besides the standard beans and rice. Kids said the quecas were "yum cheesy". Chips and guacamole were fresh and well executed. I went here after work to try their famous quesadillas. Firstly, the portion since was great. It appears as though they make everything there, presumably from scratch, which is wonderful. The service at the counter was friendly and the establishment appeared clean. As an appetizer, I had the guacamole and chips, which was good but didn't stand out in any way. As for my quesadilla, I had it filled with spicy meat, and utilized their salsa bar to put some pico de gallo and sour cream on it as well. While it was good and very filling, nothing about it particularly stood out to me. I really enjoyed their agua de Jamaica. It was better than other versions of it that I have had at other places. I would go to this restaurant again were somebody to suggest it; however, I would not go out of my way to go here again. read more

I ordered 2 quesadillas, one with rajas and the other with calabaza. When I bite into the quesadilla with calabaza I notice it was mushy and tasted a little funny so i opened it to find a huge bug in my quesadilla!!! I did receive a refund but was told that sometimes the calabaza carries little bugs and they can't help it.. It was not cooked with the calabaza and appeared healthy and probably just wasn't covered up correctly or something and the bug was able to get into the batch. Anyway this was the second time trying them bc my husband likes their burritos. We had a bad experience but thought we would give it another shot. Nope. Never again! Disgusting!!!! read more

We were uncertain about the restaurant but decided to try it on Cinco de Mayo based on the number of excellent reviews. Oh my goodness, are we glad we did! The place was casual and clean. The ladies cooking and serving were friendly and helpful. The word, quecas, means quesadillas. But these were not like any quesadillas I have ever eaten before. They were made with a home made corn tortilla that was large and much thicker than the standard tortillas and much, much more delicious. The fillings for the quesadillas were creative. I had nopales (cactus) and squash blossoms in a tomato sauce. Both were delicious! There were more traditional fillings available, but the creative ones reminded me of art in cooking. Quesadillas are made out of homemade corn tortillas, they were so good. Also tried Alfajores cookies with cajeta filling, sooo good, never heard of them before. Great prices, food and service. It's a small restaurant, you place your order with cashier, and they bring your food to your table. Really good handmade tortillas and fresh ingredients. They have a toppings bar with pickled habaneros, hot salsa, really hot salsa, and pico de gallo.
