We recently moved close by to Las Palmas and are now regulars. No frills, festive restaurant with great food. I love their carnitas burrito - the tomatillo / green sauce is delicious. The veggie options are also tasty (spinach and potato). Their rice is also great. I appreciate that the food always comes out quickly and super hot. The service is efficient and friendly. I had asked for a side of jalapeños and spicy salsa my first visit here and had the same server the second time and he remembered and brought it to me without me asking! Now that's thoughtful excellent service! And you can't beat the price!! We've brought both our parents here and they love it too. Guadeloupe and his team are awesome. Love this neighborhood spot! It's one of our go tos when we don't feel like cooking dinner. Everything we've had is great and the service is always quick. We especially like their chips and Queso. Some of our favorite entrees are spinach quesadilla with bean enchilada, fajita nachos, ACP and chicken fajitas. The refried beans and rice that come with most meals are also amazing. My friends took me here for dinner during a quick weekend trip to Durham, and it was great! Seems like a small, nondescript neighborhood joint, but it was doing a healthy business that night. Still, our service was amazingly fast, and the food was out before we knew it. The mango margarita was amazing - not cloyingly sweet. And the arroz con pollo was very flavorful and a good portion size. Prices were also super affordable. I'd definitely visit again! read more

Las Palmas was recommended by a trusted friend, but I left sorely disappointed. It was the first time I ordered from here, so I played it safe with a baseline ACP, to go. I waited about 15 minutes for the food, and when it did finally arrive, I was shocked at how small the portion was. Chicken and rice are cheap ingredients, how hard is it to fill up a tray with rice? I paid $15 for this, went home feeling robbed, and went to bed hungry. I will recommend against going here to everyone I talk to. Los Tres has an ACP for $10 and they fill the same size tray all the way up. Go there instead! read more

I'm not usually the biggest Tex-Mex fan but I really enjoyed this meal. It's in a little plaza near a Carniceria and a Panaderia (also recommended for dessert!), and it's very non-assuming. It's cozy, and everyone was very friendly. Overall, I enjoyed the food and appreciated the attempt to make rolled tacos for us, which was not on the menu. They have a little outdoor seating area that isn't much, but its perfect for a meal outside, or a meal if you have a dog with you (they were very dog-friendly). Ordered a carne quesadilla with fries. looked and tasted well. unfortunatley once i finished eating i began having excruciating pain non stop for the rest of the day so i had to leave work. pain has continued into the next day and barely just now @ 5pm i am able to feel better and eat something since i visited this restaraunt. From the outside, we did not expect much. The inside was super cute. The food was authentic and good portions. We went on Monday margarita night. Great value on the drinks but not the greatest margaritas. Seemed to be mostly ice and not much tequila. Service was friendly and good, but nothing special. We had spicy food and could have used faster water refills. You have to pay at the register, another small inconvenience for me. All in all, a good meal at a decent price in a cute atmosphere. When I walked in the the place looked deserted. The menu was extremely big and confusing. When I finally was able to order something the food was fast but small portion. I've been here a few times and it's always a delicious meal. I love the decor of this place.! The mixture of colors always brightens my mood. It's pure fun with the pictures and creative style. I personally love the over the top character it has. The service is always quick and fast and friendly. Before you can even sit down they are bringing you some chips and salsa to start your meal. It's kinda crazy but in a great way. Not long after ordering you get your food, fresh and hot. Normally I don't like getting my food so fast but when it tastes so fresh it's not a problem. Now for the food. I usually keep it pretty simple and it's order a quesadilla or enchilada but both options are very good and flavorful. I haven't heard any complaints about the food. I don't think it's the best Mexican food I've ever had but it's definitely a good option. They have great drink specials. It's the perfect place to share a pitcher of margaritas. I was a bit underwhelmed by this place. The salsa was good, but not great because it was very bland. The only saving grace was that it was very smooth and tasted fresh. With just a little bit more onion, lime, and cilantro it would be amazing but alas it had none of those things. My burritos and enchilada were the same way, lacking flavor and spice. My sister got the cheese enchiladas but the cheese wasn't melted. I would go back to try their margaritas and give it another try but wouldn't be super excited about it. read more

Oh Las Palmas. How we wanted to love you since you are so close to our home. On the night of our visit, giant margaritas were on special. Did we indulge? Absolutely! With an order of chips and guacamole to boot. Everything was...ok. In fact, it was below average. The margaritas were mostly mix, and even that was weak in flavor. The chips tasted standard. The guacamole lacked the fatty deliciousness that freshly smashed avocados mixed with lime, cilantro, tomatoes, etc. should. It feels like an authentic restaurant and the staff are so friendly. Called at 8:55pm on a Sunday to ask what time they closed... I was told on the phone 9:30pm. My husband and I drove there and got to the restaurant at 9:05pm walked in and were told they were closed for the night. I also double checked on the way out and the hours on the door state they are opened until 9:30pm on a Sunday. That is terrible business to close 25 minutes early after telling customers on the phone ten minutes earlier that they close at 9:30pm.
