The food here was hot and fresh. Inside was amazingly decorated with hand carved wood and painted with traditional Mexican images. Our server was happy interactive with my daughter and provided us with good service. If I'm in the area, I will definitely go again.

The food was awesome. The prices were good and the Service Source with a smile. What mark could you possibly ask for two thumbs up

We were seated quickly but we waited a while for our drinks. Our waiter stopped by, we couldn't find the drink menu so we weren't ready and he left and didn't come back until we started looking around the restaurant. It was cute inside though, spacious and lots of cool art. Now the food. The queso was thick like some grits!! I'm usually a fan of thicker queso but not so thick that you have to eat it fast or it's like.....cold grits! I had the A.C.C which was basically shrimp, rice queso on the side along with tortillas. I'm used to the queso being on the food and not on the side and it was still thick so by the time I got halfway through my food I was using a fork to get the queso out of the little bowl. The rice was old. It had those hard pieces of rice mixed in with the newer rice. The food was not worth the $70. We did get a $20 margarita too though. I wouldn't eat here again. Oh and if you pay with a card it's like an almost $4 fee.

Before heading to the airport for our flight home, we made one last stop--Los Tres Magueyes. At home, this would've been Taco Tuesday with happy hour prices, but when we called ahead, we found out that Happy Hour isn't really a thing here--bummer! We decided to share the four-enchilada plate, which came with one cheese, one beef, one chicken, and one bean enchilada. We also added a side of Spanish rice and refried beans. And naturally, we couldn't say goodbye without a round of Margaritas. The food was okay--nothing bad, just not especially memorable. I do wish the Margaritas were a little stronger, but they had a good flavor. The restaurant was clean, and our waiter took good care of us, making sure everything we needed was brought out quickly. All in all, it was a decent final meal before heading home--a good way to wind down and reflect on a full and flavorful trip.

This Mex ican restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. The interior is the typical bright color Mexican decor. The Chips and Salsa came out while we looked over the menu. Both were good, especially the salsa which is house made. Yep, I requested a second serving. The main meal was very good as well. The chicken enchiladas with verde sauce was excellent as well as the combo plate of one each taco, enchilada, and burrito. A side tamale was one of the best I've had in a while. This place is above average and highly recommended.

Visiting from out of town and decided to try this place. Nice quiet place with a full bar. Service was great. Food was great. Really loved the nachos!!

Two quesadillas with shrimp, chicken and beef. Could share this without an issue. Big portion.

Food was a wonderful surprise. The taste and presentation was spot on. Ask for their home made hot sauce, it's very good. Restaurant was clean and no loud music. My waiter was perfect. Very attentive and had good suggestions. I'd go back no problem.

I met a friend of mine here for late lunch. They allow dogs on the patio and he had his with him so that narrows the location options to eat. We ordered our food but it took a very long time to come out. Before it arrived, we decided we would go to my place to eat and relax looking over the lake. Plus, we could consume more beverages and not need to drive after. I found our waiter and told him to give us our order to go (it hadn't arrived yet) and to add an entree (I don't recall what I got her) for my wife. About 1 minute later our food was brought out to our table (the original 2 orders, my wife's was not included). I explained that we wanted our food to go and had an additional item as well. Within a few minutes, it was boxed up and brought to the table. I deducted one star because of the excessive wait. I'll probably try them again.

The ambiance is colorful, & every chair back is a different picture! Service was prompt & friendly. I had the veggie fajitas; beautiful presentation & great variety of vegetables. If I lived closer, I would be back again.

The taco de birria is excellent. Also you can't go wrong with the salsa and a cold draft beer.

This was good Mexican food with the most authentic ambiance I have ever seen. I would have given 5-stars, but the Chimichanga was not up to standard. It was simply a couple of small chicken burritos, instead of the traditional huge deep fried burrito. I do not recommend you order the Chimichanga. The service was dismal as well. Unfriendly men are not as pleasant as friendly women with a pretty smile. My waiter gave me attitude because I didn't understand his bad English. The main dish sides are nontraditional, too. They serve beans and lettuce, instead of beans and Spanish rice. I will wrap this up with what they did very well. The menu prices are very fair. The draft Modelo was served ice cold in a 32 oz mug. It was outstanding. The tortilla chips were the absolute BEST chips I ever ate in any Mexican restaurant. It is worth the visit, just to eat the chips and drink the beer!

While the food is on the pricey end, the portion sizes make up for it and the quality is there. On my first visit, I tried their Tres Amigos dish. It is basically a mix grill with shrimp, steak and chicken. It came with rice, beans, and veggies. The meats were super flavorful and the rice and beans were actually great! I hate it when a Mexican place just dumps overcooked rice and goopy beans and calls it a day. The veggies were very clearly frozen and came from a bag, wasn't all that excited by that. I think arroz con pollo (ACP) is one of the simplest, yet, most delicious Mexican dishes. It is chicken, cheese and rice, how can you mess that up? Mamacita does their ACP justice. The chicken is tender, there is a nice balance between the cheese and rice, and it is just a great combination altogether. They also do a decent job with their birria tacos (although wasn't the biggest fan of the consume) and their churrasco plate. They even top it with a legit salad, not just the chopped lettuce and tomato. In the end, I am always full and satisfied with the meal. I certainly think this is worth a visit. Oh, I forgot to mention everyone's favorite thing about the place, they have a robot server! Definitely very cute.

I usually rotate between the tacos, enchiladas, and molcajetes, and while the tacos themselves are just okay, the overall experience is solid. The fresh chips are easily some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (warm and crisp). Add queso to those chips and it really seals the deal. They more than make up for the tacos being a bit underwhelming and are honestly reason enough to come back. This is a great neighborhood spot if you're looking for authentic flavors, generous portions, and excellent chips and dips (biggest downside is no liquor aka no margaritas). I was really one mayonnaise filled torta away from missing out on my favorite Mexican restaurant of Cary. The food is some of the freshest and most authentic in the area, and is consistently spot on. Forget heavy burritos or overly sauced enchiladas, this place is the real deal. When you come to Esmeralda Grill, you should really focus on the meat heavy dishes, whether it be via land or sea. There are so many different options to choose from, from both categories. When thinking seafood, expect the full fish. If you find yourself with the fresh grilled tilapia, you will receive a delicious whole fish that tastes as if it was caught that morning. It is such a fantastic option. I also appreciate the camarones a la diabla, or Diablo shrimp. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the spice of the dish is excites your taste buds and is a great dish. My favorite entrees are the land meat dishes though. El Trio Perfecto is my go-to order, it is grilled steak, chicken and pork all on one plate with rice, beans, salad, and tortillas. The Mexican spice rub on the meats is absolutely mouth watering, the flavors are so bold and tasty. The meats are all cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You can make different tacos with the various meats, it is seriously one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I would highly recommend this! Additionally, Esmeralda Grill has so many other wonderful dishes for different flavor profiles. My grandparents are pretty particular about empanadas, but simply cannot get enough of Esmeralda's version. They also make some killer tacos, and some very affordable ones if you were to come on Tuesday! The moral of the story? Don't base your opinion of a restaurant after a single visit. You don't come across a fantastic hole in the wall every day, Esmeralda Grill is one that every Mexican food lover should know!

The staff really get into celebrating the birthdays, and that part was really fun! However, it took close to an hour for the server to ask us for a food order - including appetizers. Service was around a 3.5, friendly but slow. We wanted to start with the dip trio, but after waiting about 55 minutes from when we sat down, we had to flag down our waitress and ask if we could put in the order. She then came back to take the regular food order, not leaving a whole lot of time between the dip coming out and our food coming out. The dip trio was OK, the queso was the best part. I'm not sure if the dip was supposed to be a cold dip or a hot dip, but it was like a lukewarm. I got the chicken and steak fajitas, which I would give a 2.5 out of five. The meat was a bit chewy. Overall I'd give the food a 3. The drinks were a bit too sugary and not well balanced--more filler than alcohol--so I'd give them a 2 (tried a sip of friends, the house marg, mango marg, and drink that comes in a little bathtub). It's a really nice spot for a party/celebration atmosphere, could be very fun for a bday, but you'll need some patience and to keep your expectations at bay for food. They also add a 3% credit card fee when using card, which I personally dislike. In general, I don't tend to patronize businesses that do that.

We've recommended this place more times than I can count, so it genuinely pains me to write this. Today's Sunday brunch was a frustrating experience from start to finish. The wait was long, which we've come to expect and honestly never minded because the food made it worth it. What made today different was the service. One person in our group never had their order put in. We only found out when everyone else's food arrived -- after an already lengthy wait. Getting our server's attention to correct it was its own ordeal, and by the time the missing order finally came out, the rest of the table had long finished eating. To top it off, the music was blasting at a volume that made it impossible to hear each other across the table. At Sunday brunch. We asked our server to turn it down and were told the manager said it couldn't be done. I genuinely don't know what to do with that answer. The food, as always, was good -- and that's the only reason this isn't a one-star review. We'll give it another chance because the kitchen hasn't let us down. But the service today was unforgivable, and someone in management needs to know that.
