Las Palmeras is clean and tidy but it's far from fancy. There isn't much for curb appeal going on here and the inside isn't fancy either. But get past that. Decent chips and a wet salsa that was tasty but very drippy. I opted for the Tacos al Carbon and they arrived not too much later. Cozy little spot next door to the Mercado. My husband ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was truly delicious. He also ordered the fried plantain for us to share it too was a win. They served the plantain with black beans and sour cream, though it was not the prettiest presentation - the combo of those three flavors is flawless. I unfortunately did not make the best choice, I ordered the chicken tacos and they were just meh. Not saying that I'll never go back because we probably will. We visited this place just after it reopened. I got the steak tacos and my wife got a burrito. Both were outstanding. The tacos were truly excellent, they came with Verde sauce that has a little heat and a wedge of lime. I used some of their extremely good salsa, the Verde sauce and the lime and it was amazing. To date, these are the best tacos I've ever had. We also ordered something called a pupusa. I don't know what it was, just that it was amazing. Get this too, it's got beans and cheese or something in it. The food is overall very excellent. I just wish I had tried this place sooner. read more

When Las Palmeras arrived in Chambersburg, it definitely felt like a gift. My family loads up on their delicious tacos to go for our weekends. The food is cooked with love and the restaurant is located directly next to a Mexican food mart. You can tell by how yummy the meat is. My grandparents are 80+ and had never eaten a taco, so my brother and I took them here and they were a hit! Ample space, lighting, big tables available. Definitely stop by the tienda next door, too, on your way out. read more

Las Palmeras is a nice, full sized eatery that offers primarily Mexican, but also Salvadorian food. Be sure to check out the delicious papusas. The prices are fair, most entrees ranging from 9 - 14 dollars. Service is fair, overall the kitchen isnt too fast, dont expect that. There is a small Mexican dry goods store attached to this place, they seem to have an access door in the back, although I didnt venture in. We ended up with a combination dish of fish, chicken and beef, mixed with lettuce, tomatoes, avacados and running about 24 dollars. They offer standard Mexican fair, nothing fancy. read more

Went with colleagues for lunch, I had Carne Asada and Lengua tacos along with Papusa. I am from California where there are numerous Mexican Restaurant and large Latino community, so comparison is like comparing Toyota and Tata Motor Cars. I really like the lengua and you received a good portion. Carne Asad is not as flavorful like I normally have but it is good. I was so full I did not have room for the Papusa. After having two servings of chips and salsa. The salsa (Pico de gallo) was excellent. I would definitely return. Large menu selection, too. read more

Las Palmeras is a nice little Mexican joint ... Somethings are odd (like no Mexican Coke despite its super-close proximity to Latino Mercado AND it's picture menus [pictures of food on menus annoy me]). But, despite these short-comings, the food was very authentic and, more importantly, super good. I had the Las Palmeras tacos (chicken) and it was freshly cooked and better than anything at Chipotle, Montezuma's or Moe's can even come close to. I have found my go to Mexican place in Chambersburg. The guacamole was very fresh. I really enjoyed the tacos on corn tortillas with cilantro, onions, and a splash of lime. The server was the only server there, a party of 12 came in and he tried very hard to take care of all the tables. I will be going back to Las Palmeras. read more

This hidden gem is located in the same plaza as the Chambersburg Big Lots. I can't say enough about the food! I've eaten in and done takeout numerous times, and the quality of food and service has been consistently high. The portions are beyond generous, and the service is always friendly. I LOVE the crazy pupusas and the salpicon (chopped steak, onion, cilantro, tomato and lime), My boyfriend has had some really good, tender beef tongue here.
