Worse chimichanga I have eaten. Ordered chicken chimichanga- failed to indicate I wanted cheese sauce so I received some sort of tomato sauce. It was a greasy, distasteful mess. Try some of the made fresh guacamole and by that I mean green paste with chunks of avocado. Also, don't worry about going to this place if you are vegan. They can't really serve you anything that isn't smothered in cheese. And what is wrong with Morganton that people are calling this place "authentic"? Yummy! The food is always served hot and fresh, although occasionally the main fajita dish comes out before the fixings. That's okay, because the waitstaff is always around checking to make sure everything is satisfactory. My family and I are regulars at Las Salsas. I live in Virginia now, but every time I'm home in NC we visit this restaurant. It's our Friday night tradition. We usually get chimichangas which are AMAZING (stuffed with yummy vegetables and chicken or whatever meat you choose). Anytime I have deviated from my chimichanga and gotten something else I have not been disappointed. It's much higher quality with fresher ingredients than I am used to at Mexican restaurants. The best Mexican food restaurant I have ate at in NC. The portion size is huge. They have the best salsa bar I have ever tasted. The service is great. The prices are the same or better then other Mexican food restaurants serving smaller food portions. There is one thing I would change. Make the refried beans thicker. We stopped at Las Salsas on the way home from a soccer game and boy was it worth it! The portions are HUGE and the food is delicious. We got beef chimichangas in a cheese sauce and sopapillas. I ate here twice while in town for business. I enjoyed it, but I have had better. I loved the margaritas. It was very busy both trips and the food came out quickly. The table side guacamole need to be mixed better and didn't give you the option of what to add and I prefer to leave out the onions and get jalapeños but it was good once I mixed it better. Any other Mexican restaurant in the area pales in comparison to Las Salsas, except maybe their second Las Salsas restaurant in Marion, NC! Excellent food, fast service, and perfect prices keep us coming back as regulars. The difference between them and another establishment is the fact that it is grilled over being completly fried. I love their ACC. Easy to go and its so much food you eat for 2 days on it. My family and I made two trips in one. Our first and our last! My wife, son and I stopped here for dinner. My wife wanted some Mexican and this place didn't look too busy. After we got our drinks, we waited about ten minutes before our waiter came back to take our order. My wife and I ordered the chimichunga and my son wanted a cheese quesadilla. They brought my son's quesadilla fairly quickly but he only ate about 3/4 of it because it was really greasy. Our chimichungas came out and they were pretty good sized but there was some kind of dark green vegetable that was about 3" long and 1/4" wide that was NOT edible. It was like thin strips of leather that you couldn't chew up. I ate about 1/3 of it. As we were sitting there eating and talking. I turned to my son, who was sitting next to the wall (we were sitting at a booth), to say something and noticed a cockroach crawling out from behind a picture hanging on the wall at our table! I've been to many mexican restaurants around the states and this is by far the best one! Fresh ingredients, chargrilled meats and vegetables. They serve refried beans with chips and also have a salsa bar. My favorite salsa, was the spicy red. Very unique and once again best salsa I've ever tasted.
