An honest review from a graduate: Let's start off with some positives; *the NCLEX is covered by the school once you graduate( the asterisk is in reference to the end of this review, it's a positive they lure you in with only the change it at the last minute) I do like that pre reqs are included in the program, you don't have to pay for retake courses, and the campus itself is nice; lastly the small handful of amazing staff / professors that actually do care about you are truly amazing but this facility breaks them down and they quit very quick (like less than a year quick) Now for the harsh stuff. This school from the get go has been pretty disorganised. I was understanding at first since Covid and switching to online or hybrid learning was an adjustment especially for a hands on program / career like Nursing; however that was just the tip of the iceberg. I'm one of of early classes a professor quit 3/4 of the way through that quarter. Our nursing chair had to come in and we truly didn't learn much that quarter since it was just survival mode. Some time passes and then the testing scandal breaks (Google Las Vegas college high stakes and you'll see a news report on it) Students were given high stakes testing and even when students brought this to the faculty's attention it wasn't investigated until a student called the news and got them involved which thus prompted the BON to investigate as well. The school was found in the wrong however the damage was done and students had to repeat their class anyway this delaying them another 3 months because the school doesn't care about students but it does care about its image. Fast forward some more and we had a teacher who was down right cruel to students often calling them dumb in front of the class, showing everyone's grades with their names on the monitor / projector in class and hitting on the older male students in the class. She was a mess who showed up to class in the same stained t shirt every day and her hair unwashed and being very cruel, I'm not attacking appearances on things one can't control but anyone in the medical field should have basic hygiene skills... Anyway she gave out a test that every student failed and when students brought up how that is an issue and they needed to find the disconnect in teaching to learning; instead of hearing students out and seeing where both parties had faults she just quit. Fast forward a bit and clinicals are being canceled or denied the day of. There were facilities that would deny us despite us being told by LVC that the clinical was booked a year in advanced. Now for the final quarter We had a teacher who would go on her phone and watch YouTube video while we took our practice assessments in preparation for NCLEX, no formal training or anything so many of us purchased other resources such as UWorld or Simple Nursing to prepare for the NCLEX Only to be told at the last three weeks that 1. There is an NCLEX Prep program that the school pays for (ATI) but it takes 12 weeks which means two months after graduation we could take NCLEX as opposed to a few weeks after and 2. That if we choose to do our own prep (mind you almost everyone bought their own prep with their own money and that stuff runs in the $200-400 range so of course we're going to use that, anyway if we choose to use our own then we have to pay for the NCLEX fee from the get go of enrolling the NCLEX has been set to be paid for by the school NEVER the student and they added this in formal wording into an updated student handbook the last 2 weeks of schooling I wanna say you get what you pay for but we pay much more than other programs and get so much less than theirs Are there some amazing perks about this school? Sure but I would rather have staff that retains well and promises met than a free retake class If you're considering this school I would really urge you to look at some other programs and reviews and if you can handle the quick changes and teaching yourself then go for it but if you prefer to have the same teacher for the duration of your quarter (12 weeks) and want your clinicals to not be denied because hospitals don't like your school I would look else where I hope they take this into consideration and reform the school and reform is fast. ALERT!!! THIS SCHOOL IS A BIG JOKE I am writing to bring attention to significant concerns regarding the handling of academic policies and student evaluations within the RN program at Las Vegas College. These issues have negatively impacted students' ability to succeed and raise serious ethical and regulatory concerns. During the seventh quarter of the RN program, the passing score was unexpectedly increased from 76% to 80% without prior notice or consultation with students. This abrupt policy change was implemented to address the institution's accreditation concerns due to low NCLEX pass rates. However, instead of investing in improved educational strategies, hiring qualified faculty, or developing original exam materials, the burden was placed entirely on students. Despite this challenge, we adapted and met the new passing threshold. In the final quarter, additional policy changes were introduced in a manner that was both abrupt and disruptive. The night before the ATI predictor exam, students were informed via announcement from Program Chair Athena Freeman that the exam, which had been administered online throughout the program, would now be required to be taken in person. This last-minute change forced students to make unexpected arrangements to comply. Upon arrival for the exam, students were further informed that the required passing score had been unilaterally increased to an individual score of 86%, equating to a 99% predicted NCLEX pass rate--an exceptionally high and unrealistic expectation. This deviated significantly from the originally stated syllabus requirement of a 69% individual score, which correlates to an 86% predicted NCLEX pass rate. The abrupt change created significant distress and confusion minutes before the exam, negatively impacting student performance. Following this, after many students were unable to meet the revised requirement, an announcement was issued stating that while the 86% predicted score requirement would remain, the syllabus was being altered again--this time reducing the number of retake opportunities from two to one. If students failed to achieve the required score, they would not be permitted to graduate. This practice constitutes high-stakes testing, which, according to the Nevada State Board of Nursing, is a violation of the Nurse Practice Act--a matter in which the school was already involved in 2023. As a result, students sought intervention from the Nevada Nursing Board. The following week, students arrived for the scheduled retake, only to be informed--without prior notice--that the exam would not be administered that day. Instead, due to concerns over high-stakes testing policies, a non-standardized exam was to be created and taken the following week. However, the zero students received for the initial ATI exam was not removed, significantly impacting overall course grades. Despite attempts to address this issue, faculty responded by downplaying the impact, stating that it "should not make a big difference." In reality, many students experienced a dramatic drop in their grades--for example, from a passing 88% to a failing 78% due to the exam being weighted at 10% of the overall grade. Further compounding the issue, students were given a 14-page study guide just four days before the newly created exam, which was designed using ATI quiz bank questions by an ATI instrucor for an exam that is not supposed to be an ATI standarized exam, rather than faculty-generated content. This forced students to prepare for this unexpected test while simultaneously studying for a critical final exam scheduled just two days later. The handling of these assessments and policy changes raises serious concerns about transparency, fairness, and adherence to educational and regulatory standards. The unpredictability and lack of consideration for students' academic success reflect poorly on the leadership of Athena Freeman and the administration at Las Vegas College. Prospective students should be aware of these ongoing issues. If you are considering enrolling, I strongly advise researching other institutions that prioritize student success, maintain academic integrity, and uphold ethical educational practices. ALERT!!! HIGH-STAKES TESTING!!!!!! PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THE RN PROGRAM AT LAS VEGAS COLLEGE! Las Vegas College looks appealing, affordable, accelerated, but what they promise and what they deliver are two different things. From the start, admissions felt rushed and impersonal. I was given the wrong orientation date, had financial aid issues, and was left to "figure it out." By the time I realized how chaotic the school was, I had already paid thousands. Under Director Athena Freeman, things only got worse. She claimed she would improve NCLEX pass rates and fix issues from a 2023 lawsuit the school lost for illegal high-stakes testing. Yet, those same policies returned. Before our ATI predictor exam, we were suddenly told it would be in-person instead of remote, causing major disruptions. Then, just minutes before the test, Athena announced she had changed the passing benchmark from 86% to 99%, completely contradicting our syllabus. When students questioned this, she accused us of "low expectations" and dismissed our concerns. The next day, instead of admitting her mistake, she sent an email claiming the school had "decided" to keep 86%, as if it hadn't already been the policy. She also doubled down on her "low expectation" comments by stating we needed to "stay motivated". Let me be clear: expecting an 86% predictor score, something already difficult to achieve, does not mean I don't expect success from myself. It means I expected fairness. Athena claims her policies aren't high-stakes because she allows one retake. But high-stakes testing is any exam that determines graduation or advancement. Even with a retake, the test still dictates whether a student can complete the program. She's been told this. She knows this. She just doesn't care. The grading scale was also changed mid-semester, from needing a 76% to pass to requiring an 80% overall AND an 80% exam average. No discussion, just another unilateral decision we had to "deal with." Then, students were suddenly responsible for finding their own final clinical site and instructor, something never mentioned during admissions or throughout the program. Even when students secured instructors, the school rejected them for arbitrary reasons, making the process nearly impossible. Athena disregards student feedback. When concerns are raised, she either gives incorrect information to justify bad decisions or ignores them entirely. She does not apologize, does not admit fault, and will defend wrong decisions rather than fix them. For nearly two years, class and clinical schedules were given just days before they started. When students asked for more notice? "Too bad." Then, they removed all semester breaks, violating our contracts and burning students out even faster. Labs are understocked. Equipment is outdated or broken. Hands-on experience is rare, and when we do get practice, we're often taught incorrectly, only to be scolded later for doing what we were shown. And the toxic learning environment? Instructors have yelled at students, belittled them, and even made some cry for things as minuscule as hand writing. Faculty turnover is high. Many instructors openly say, "We don't care," or "Teach yourselves." Despite this, students are constantly told, "This is just how nursing school is." No. This is not rigorous, it's negligent. I regret attending this school, and I am far from alone. Many graduates go out of their way to warn others never to enroll. Athena Freeman has created a culture of deflection, manipulation, and zero accountability. And before they try to twist this review, just know: they will. But I stand by every word. I never thought I would be writing a review like this, especially after investing so much time, money, and effort into this program. When I first started at Las Vegas College, I genuinely enjoyed my experience. The instructors cared, communication was clear, and I felt like I was receiving a quality education. Unfortunately, once new leadership and faculty took over, everything changed. The program became disorganized, communication was poor, expectations constantly changed, and students were often left confused with little guidance or support. I was actually told, "get use to it this is how it is in the nursing world." Instead of focusing on learning and becoming competent nurses, many of us were spending our time trying to figure out what was expected of us from week to week. For a nursing program that costs tens of thousands of dollars, I expected professionalism, consistency, and an education that would prepare me for my future career. Instead, I experienced unnecessary stress, lack of support, and a learning environment that felt more focused on making students struggle than helping them succeed. The most disappointing part is that I left the program with only 10 months remaining. Walking away that close to graduation was heartbreaking, but I could no longer justify continuing to pay for an education that I did not feel was meeting the standards students deserve. I sacrificed time with my children, worked long hours, and dedicated over a year of my life to this program. Looking back, I wish I had researched more and considered other options before enrolling. Especially because this school has renamed itself a few times. If you're considering Las Vegas College, I strongly encourage you to speak with current and former students and do extensive research before making a commitment. If I could give no stars I would. This is by far the worst school I have ever attended. I wish I had done my research more thoroughly before going here. They hide their Google reviews because they know they're deplorable. This school was Corinthians College then Everest College and now Las Vegas College. Do your research before going to any school honestly. The chair of the LPN program is a racist and her minions all enable her. If you are blck this is definitely the school for you, you'll get away with failing multiple classes multiple times, even though their handbook clearly states that if you fail 2 classes you are to be removed from the program.... If you're blck you can get away with threatening to physically assault another student in the parking lot, you can cheat your way through the nursing program, use fake urine to get drug test results to stay in the program, smoke weed in the school parking lot then go into class smelling like weed, if you're blk you can bully students and call them wetback beaner and gremlin and still graduate! If you're blk you can even be late to class and clinicals every single day of the entire program and still graduate! The Nevada Board of Nursing should investigate this school because administration staff at this school is a joke and should all be fired including David Dolbow. They show favoritism to blck people, enable racism and bullying, they show favoritism to students who buy them coffee, bath and body works, and other gifts. ZERO STARS!!!! This school will gladly take all of your tuition money and keep taking even if they do not have the resources available that your tuition is so called paying for. The school had its up and downs for years from what it seems like as its undergone several name changes and staff turn over. Students enrolling have had their credit/debit card information stolen from front desk staff during enrollment which should have been the first red flag. Brayla R. the new RN Program Chair seems to have been pushed out of Arizona College across the street and moved to LVC to be the new RN Chair. Students from Arizona College have commented on how horrible and rude she was and how the staff and students all hated her. She's sloppy in appearance and joins in on classes without introducing herself properly and proceeds to sit on her phone during the whole lecture without any genuine intent. Staff is leaving as she makes them un-comfrortable as well. As seen in prior reviews she's very unprofessional on social media and you can see how miserable she really is. Hopefully this school stops taking money from students and fixes their issues before raising hell on other students lives. Nursing school is hard but the bullying tactics from staff is very unnecessary especially from a miserable lady on a power trip who's clearly miserable in her personal life. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS TRASH SCHOOL!! I have finished the medical assistant program and it was probably the worst experience of my life. The work is so pointless, on lecture days you have to come in and just sit there and listen to the teacher read off of the book for hours! They pass out worksheets for homework and for that you just have to find the missing words in the book and write it down on the paper. You're not actually learning anything you're just learning how to copy words. Then they make you do a ridiculous amount of typing tests EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. The typing tests have nothing to do with the program yet alone being a medical assistant. It's literally never ending, makes me feel like I'm in middle school all over again. Then they make you do Microsoft packets which are pointless too and they stress it over and over that you're going to need it out in the field but you really won't. Majority of the things you learn here you won't need out there. Teachers just sit there on their phones all day with a silent class not even properly teaching the correct ways to be a medical assistant. Also, teachers can't take no criticism, the students are shut down so quick and get gaslit by their own teacher! Save your money, I promise you don't want to come here, it's a waste of money and a waste of 9 months. This school deserves 0 stars!! read more

Honestly, i had the worst experience starting here at Las Vegas College BUT after the LP program had a change in directors/leadership halfway through the program, it was 10x better than when I started. The huge downside of this school would be the financial aspect. I was charged around $46k although the LPN program itself is only $24k. $19k in Loans of which the school took out in my name, $7,900 in grants & i paid $14,500 out of pocket up front when I started the program. After the initial talk to financial aid and they take your money, good luck on ever seeing them again. I've emailed them & even came in waiting in the lobby trying to talk to them but instead of seeing me in person they decided to give me a call on the phone instead of talking to me in person to clarify the issue. I graduated this month, i would highly recommend the LP program since majority of the professors and even the new director is extremely kind and willing to help students, but then again the financial aid in this school is horrendous. I'm not the only student who has the same trouble or worse with the financial aid office. Some students just gave up and accepted they'll have to over pay. read more
