I was 32 years old when I got my SMILE procedure done at this facility. I had worn corrected vision lenses since I was 15 years old. I had thought about doing LASIK (I didn't even know what SMILE was until I came to this facility for a free consultation) for a few years, but never came around to being serious about it until my employer offered FSA. I looked online, and this facility had the best reviews, so I decided to give them a call. I would never try to cheap out on a life-altering surgery on my only pair of eyes. Everyone that I had dealt with was extremely friendly. If my memory serves me correctly you will have your free consultation, then a few days before your scheduled surgery you will go in for another checkup and Dr. Haddad will walk you through the process. The surgery was pretty quick and went smoothly. When I got home I went straight to bed, woke up with some minor pain (I had forgotten to take another Tylenol), rested for a bit, and then went back to sleep for the night. The next day I went in for my checkup and everything turned out great. My vision is now 20/10. I didn't experience any of the concerning side effects (e.g., glows, difficulty driving at night) that some encounter. The only thing that I noticed is that my eyes were a little dryer than normal during the winter months (having your heater turned on will obviously remove moisture so that made sense) and this is easily remedied by using artificial tears (I rarely needed to use, but it's good to keep some at home). I would highly recommend to anyone that can afford corrected eye surgery to come here. Remember that you get what you pay for, so while this place may not be the cheapest, it definitely is worth the cost. Also for those that do not know, SMILE does not require the creation of a flap (quicker recovery time). read more

Dr. Haddad convinced me that I would have 20/20 vision from -10 prescription from smile and come to find out he is preforming boarder line malpractice procedures to make quota. I was left under corrected and aberrations. Dr. Haddad and his team make sure they don't tell you about these side effects. I have lost my career and happiness for a quota. Dr. Haddad and his team continued to lie about side effects like dry eye and pain post operation. From other surgeons and doctors he doesn't have a good reputation and its all marketing. After considering Lasik for years, I finally pulled the trigger and decided to get it done. After talking to a lot of people, I decided that Laser Eye Institute was the best option. Dr Haddad came highly recommended and is one of the foremost experts on vision correction in the country. After going through a rigorous screening, they determined that I was a candidate for traditional Lasik. Before getting the surgery they had me "try it on" with custom fit contacts for my proposed Monovision correction. After tweaking the reading side, we came to an agreed on setting. My surgery was delayed 2x due to Covid-19, but I finally had it done on June 23. It was well worth the wait. The surgery only took about 15 minutes after multiple checks and cross-checks to make sure my eyes hadn't changed. I experienced no issues after surgery- no dry eyes, no complications. My vision is exactly what I experienced during the contact trial, and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend Dr. Haddad to anyone looking at permanent vision correction. [Cross-posted to Google] I was overcome by how friendly, efficient, and thorough the majority of the staff at the Laser Eye Institute are! Individual shout-outs from my free consultation: (1) I appreciated how much Andrew kept me engaged and informed throughout the scans; explaining why he was running the tests and what the results meant. He was also very personable (2) Dr. Rautio has great "bedside" manner and was also extremely adept at explaining the tests he was conducting and why, and the differences between the LASIK and SMILE procedures (drawings are my favorite) (3) And of course, Rochelle was the cherry on top! She gave me just the right amount of information by highlighting all the important bits to review plus special in-person tips. The consultation process was better than I could've imagined! And I was able to be scheduled for my SMILE procedure (essentially a laparoscopic form of LASIK = faster recovery and fewer complications) for the next week! (For those wondering, the total cost of the procedure, including 2-year follow-up optometry care and any potential adjustment operations, was $4000 + about $40 for the pre-/post-op eyedrops) Day of surgery, I was a bit nervous but felt well taken care of by Dr. Haddad and his staff. They repeated all the information RE: the procedure multiple times and then had me repeat back everything to make sure I understood my role and the time it would take. I was in and out in a little over an hour (though I was told it can take up to three depending on how backed up the office is and how anxious the patient is; procedure it self takes 5 minutes max but there was a pre-op eye exam, medication, etc). I slept most of the rest of the day, using a single dose of ibuprofen to control eye discomfort between naps. Now I'm post-op day one and tested 20/20 this morning at my follow-up appointment once the protective contact lenses were removed. It was a pleasure to interact with Dr. Haddad outside of the surgery suite and I'm told my vision will likely to continue to improve if I use my eyedrops as prescribed to keep the inflammation and any infections at bay. Overall experience was excellent! If your considering LASIK, at least schedule an initial evaluation that includes all the testing and exams to see if you're even a candidate, at NO charge. Staff was informative of what each test was evaluating, and how it will impact potential procedures. Both staff and physicians were extremely friendly and professional. Furthermore they seem to be HIGHLY organized throughout the entire process. After my initial evaluation and discussion of my options, I did proceed with surgery. They have a number of options but for me, each eye I had a different laser correction on. They chose this because in the initial correction of my eye, I was having difficulty tracking colors as directed so they used a different machine for my second eye. I appreciated this greatly because they were taking into consideration my comfort level. Since my procedure I tell everyone, BEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE. It was 100% life changing all for the better. 4 months into seeing without glasses and I'm loving it! I reached out to Dr. Haddad's office last fall for a consultation, which was very professional and quite insightful! Dr. Haddad himself even met with me to review my options and make suggestions based on the information they had gathered on my eyes. After several weeks of really thinking about it (it is surgery, after all), I decided to get the process started. The team quickly got me into the office to take further measurements, where they mentioned that the recently FDA-approved SMILE procedure could be a great option for me. I couldn't deny the appeal of taking this route (it is a less invasive operation with less recovery time and minimal discomfort), so I discussed again with Dr. Haddad and scheduled the procedure. Fast forward to operation day. I arrive at the office and finalize financial details, then took some final measurements (I can appreciate a measure twice, cut once approach) and moved into the prep room. Dr. Haddad came in to review everything once more, manually checking out my eyes to confirm the data that his team had collected over the past few weeks and explain exactly how the procedure would go. After this, it was just a matter of waiting for the sedatives to kick in. The entire procedure (for both eyes) took about 15 minutes and was completely painless - maybe a little discomfort from having things so close to my eyes, but nothing unbearable. Afterwards, the team took me into the post-op room, brought in my girlfriend to go over the recovery process, congratulated and thanked me for trusting them with my eyesight, and sent me home to sleep for the night. The next morning, I wake up, and no joke - I could see! There was some dryness, and a little haze over everything, but all of the blurriness I had come to know since I was a child was completely gone. Since I did my procedure the week of Thanksgiving, my first follow up appointment was that day, where they confirmed that I had 20/20 vision. Over a regular series of follow up appointments (which will continue for 2 years after my operation), I have found my vision is continuing to improve even further. The haziness went away pretty quickly, then the night vision started to improve, and now I'm starting to see details that I don't think I've ever seen from a distance. The only real discomfort I've experienced over the last few months is some dryness - mostly in the morning, late at night, and under bright florescent lighting - but that is pretty easily addressed with eye drops (I've gotten pretty good at putting these in). Overall, I have no hesitation in saying that laser eye correction is totally worth it, especially with Dr. Haddad's team guiding me through it. Waking up every day with my eyesight feels like a miracle, and no part of me misses putting in contacts or cleaning my glasses every day! If I had one complaint, it would really only be about the waiting time during appointments. Dr. Haddad's office is usually very busy, so during consultations and follow up appointments, I have often found myself waiting for 30+ minutes, either in the lobby or back in an exam room. I had the smile surgery done and it was super easy and so amazing. Everyone made me feel so comfortable in the office and I can't believe I waited 10 whole years to finally get my eyes corrected. The best decision ever. I was blind before without my glasses and contacts I couldn't do. I can barely put drops in my eyes. I am definitely used to doing drops now as you need a lot of eye drops. I received excellent treatment and care during my LASIK procedure, as well as pre and post op. Dr. Haddad, Dr. Rautio, and team are leading experts in the field. They care deeply about finding the right procedure for you, and will not proceed with a surgery unless they are confident you will have the best possible results. The financing option with Care Credit really made the procedure affordable (0% interest over two years). I went from being a 12 (nearsighted) to 20/15 vision, which is pretty unbelievable. I have some initial night time driving halo-ing from lights, which goes away after about 15-20 minutes, which is not a surprise. Dr. Haddad always seems to be finding ways to improve and add to the field of research. His technique minimizes halo-ing, by accounting for the unique way the pupils dilate, which other doctors do not use, or are unaware of. I'm impressed with his level of expertise. I do have to say that some of his social commentary is a bit off the mark, and it would be nice if he had more awareness of that. Otherwise, I can't recommend The Laser Eye Institute enough for their services. I've recommended several friends, and I myself came in as a recommended from another friend. I finally decided, after 15 years of contacts and 17 years of glasses, that I'm going to get lasik done. The consultation appointment was 2 hours long. It was THAT detailed and thorough. I booked my procedure & put my deposit down without a doubt. The Doctors were nice, knowledgeable, and fun to work with face-to-face. His admin staff is often cute young women (think models) but they can be a real pain as I'll get into. My Eye Surgery went well, my eyes needed a lot removed to achieve 20/20 (thick glasses) plus I had a astigmatism. As the doctor told me, the FDA limits the level of correction that can be done in a "wave" procedure so one eye needed more than was allowed in a single pass so that eye would require a second correction procedure after I fully healed. I didn't think that would be an issue with their policy on free touch-ups within a certain window post initial procedure. Well, I did all my followup appointments and they wanted to wait even longer because the one eyes vision was still acclimating/changing visit-to-visit. So we waited months longer for it to stabilize then holidays and scheduling conflicts etc... Well we went slightly past the window for free touch-ups (mainly on their end at this point getting it back in the schedule, free by policy prioritized lower than new money). The scheduling lady now wanted me to pay full price again and start all over. I fought with them back and forth and eventually gave up. Years later I still have one eye that's pretty much 20/40 and messes with night vision and depth perception, still getting by just fine but they screwed me on this and I'm not willing to give them another dime on principle. read more

I had SMILE surgery done in June 2019 and had a fantastic experience! I've been coming to this clinic with my parents for the longest time. The facility is beautiful, workers are friendly people and the doctors are wonderful. I had SMILE done back in August of 2019 I was just 20 yrs old but had the worst vision since I could remember, legitimately I was blind without my glasses. I still stick by my 5 star rating for the surgery...but something odd happened a few days ago. I had a follow up appointment in December and when I arrived on time for my appointment in December, the receptionist told me they suddenly had to reschedule and they would let me know when to come back in. That's ok...things happen. The really odd thing is that I heard nothing until February 1st when a receptionist called me and said they would like to reschedule the appointment from December. Now, I understand if appointments are booked until February, but not to follow up with me for weeks after the office cancelled an appointment that I showed up for seemed odd. I was so surprised to hear from them that I said "Seriously? I need to reschedule?" and the receptionist hung up on me. I haven't heard from her since, but that's ok, my eyes are great. read more

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Haddad and Dr. Rautio, as well as the entire staff at the Laser Eye Institute. I did have a small complication with the healing of my lasik procedure (because of my eyes, not the procedure), but Dr. Haddad and Dr. Rautio gave me the best care possible, even calling me in the evenings for weeks and weekly exams to make sure everything stayed on track. I got my laser eye surgery (SMILE procedure) done with Dr Haddad and I had such a good result that there is not enough space for me to write everything. First of all he reassured me that I would have a great result because I was skeptical since my prescription was -8.5. I had the surgery in the morning and could tell right away after standing up that it was already better than my usual very poor vision. It is blurry when you first get out of the procedure but it gets better throughout the day. My vision got better as the day went on as expected, I went home and slept for about 5 hours because they want you to relax and sleep if possible. I could see fairly well after my 5 hour nap/relax. As the days went on my vision got better and better. He had warned me that I could have dry eyes after the surgery but honestly I had dry eyes BEFORE the surgery and it feels the same now as it did before so there has been no change with that either which is positive. His staff are all amazing too! You can tell he doesn't hire just anyone. Everyone is qualified but also relatable, funny and professional all at the same time so they put you at ease. Dr. Haddad is THE MAN. I am a very difficult case: I made an uniformed decision 25 years ago to have RK (the pizza pie surgery). My corneas are a mess now and required the best.
