The sugar house coffee was a standout. Rich, smooth, and exactly what you want on a cold Vermont morning. We also tried the handmade biscuit, warmed and buttered, and it genuinely felt like a hug in biscuit form. Shoutout to Ethan for being incredibly helpful and thoughtful with recommendations. With his guidance, we built a fantastic sandwich with sourdough, hash browns, avocado, green sauce, and chili crunch. He understood the assignment. Messy, hearty, and delicious. The vegan wrap was also flavorful and satisfying. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend Speakeasy Café, especially if you're looking for strong vegetarian and vegan options in Rutland.

And the owner is a great person. Tea: loved it! The selections are astonishing. Sandwich (tomato and mozzarella) and soup (broccoli and cheddar) just SO GOOD! High quality ingredients; exquisite taste, not overdone; and the bread... delicious! Rutland is blessed to have this place. As good as any similar establishment in a big city, here or abroad. All at very reasonable prices! Definitely the place to go.

When we have more time we will be back. We were quickly acknowledged and answered any questions we had. We ordered 2 drinks teas both were delicious, can't remember them right now. As our drinks were being created I was checking out their huge selection of bag teas, I had Lapsang Souchong tea on my shopping list for making seitan, I was shocked to find it in our lil small town and so happy! The Gentleman that waited on us knew all about its smokey flavor! I'm impressed! Looking forward to using it this week! The shop is nicely set up and has room for expansion. Has a seating area that is nicely spaced out. Very clean shop items, teas have their own areas. Looking forward to visiting with some friends soon!

All their pancakes are amazing, even though with my sodium issue I only get a taste of my husband's. My ole favorites were Pumpkin and their classic Sugar & Spice with the perfect amount of sweetness and spice mix. I wish they would serve saltless grits! That would make this girl happy! I only eat a couple of the potatoes, they are very tasty however salt is used or the rest of you wouldn't be eating them....am I right! Of course, my eggs were cooked perfectly! I keep forgetting you have ice cream! They also have many local theme items for sale and don't forget to not head home with Vermont's local Maple Syrup! If you came in March you will get to see the sap being processed into syrup!

We finally decided to try out S&S and I found it good, but not worth the 5 stars everyone gives it pancakes = well cooked, round, pretty standard. don't get 4 pancakes unless you want be in a pancake induced coma. also, they put a literal small ice cream scoop size of butter on the pancakes. Only IHOP does that and it's way too much butter. If you are eating all of that butter, you might need an extra dose of lipitor. Toast = kind of boring S&S pancakes = kind of tasted like pancakes with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Home fries = those were good I was there with two 16-year olds who both thought the food was "mid". I did see a small girl sitting with plate in front of her that had a waffle with ice cream and whipped cream piled so high, that it was almost as tall as her. Her eyes were huge and she was trying to figure out where to start. That waffle looked pretty good and as I passed the table, her dad was leaning in to "help out and keep the plate clean". They sell a lot of baseball hats and t-shirts.

After the hot dog meal I used the rest of the rolls for meat ball heros and sandwiches for lunches. It's been a long time that I had been in their location because my DJ usually picks everything up because they close before I make it down to town and was surprised of all the changes they made inside! Loving the set up, of course, when I arrived there was a line and the area was crowded but everyone was nice and let me know if they ordered, etc. There's No Doubt that we will be back soon!
