At check-in, the receptionist still demanded my physical cards, which I handed over. Instead of returning them right away as is standard, She then held onto both my driver's license and insurance card without any explanation, simply saying someone would return them later. Front desk staff have no legal right to retain state-issued ID against people's will. driver's license is personal property. Holding it without explanation, especially after I already submitted everything digitally, is a serious identity theft risk and a violation of basic property rights. What makes this even more unacceptable, I was the only patient there at the time. There was absolutely no reason my cards could not have been returned to me immediately. This was not a busy office scrambling to keep up. It was one patient, and the staff could not be bothered to hand back my own ID. When I asked why, she stormed back to her desk, shoved my cards at me, and snapped "okay I can give them to you NOW if you want." Completely unprofessional. The very next patient said he had only submitted online and had no physical cards. She was perfectly pleasant with him and asked no questions. I should not have to justify asking for my own ID back, and I should not be treated differently than the patient standing right behind me. The doctors here may be fine, but if the front desk experience reflects how this practice treats patients, that is a serious problem Update: The practice did reach out after my complaint, apologized, and said they will be doing corrective training and revisiting their ID policy. I appreciate that they took it seriously.

However, since he retired I have been transferred to at least 4 different medical providers. I've had no complaints until recently because I usually only visit this office once a year. The current front desk staff(Marisol and the new heavy set one with a terrible attitude) always seem to be miserable. I dread calling the office because I know I will most likely be greeted rudely and made to feel as though I am a burden. Questions are not encouraged and when I've sought out further clarification the response I've received was one of annoyance. Any requests for a phone call with my provider have always been declined and my only option has been to schedule an appointment even if an appointment was not necessary. It seems that this practice is money driven and if they do not feel your medical concern is a priority, they make it very clear by their lack of patience with you. It's too bad that the lack of customer service and rude front desk staff who represent this practice have such a negative impact that one would walk away from 25 years of care for a new provider who is welcoming and attentive. Big difference! I hate to say it but I think the fact that this practice primarily serves patients from lower socio-economic backgrounds impacts the quality of care provided and the general attitude of superiority and disregard for patient care, which can be seen in their lack of respect for even basic human interaction. I also think that they are so used to treating patients with Husky insurance, that they are not sensitive to the financial needs of patients with co-payments and/or deductibles who might not be so eager to be seen when a solution may not require an office visit. Mona Chiurillo, APRN has been pleasant and helpful. She's definitely an asset. Also, her MA is always very kind, friendly and helpful. Unless you have no other choice, I wouldn't recommend this practice!
