My husband and I go yearly for our 'body' check for skin cancer. Dr Pennoyer is always professional, thorough , and listens. Over the years she has found several lesions that tested positive. She removed the ones on the body, but sent us to a surgeon that is certified in plastic surgery and does Mohs surgery. We've been pleased with our experiences. read more

Front desk staff: rude and inconsistent I came prepared. I had submitted my ID, insurance card, and all required forms online before my appointment. At check-in, the receptionist still demanded my physical cards, which I handed over. Instead of returning them right away as is standard, She then held onto both my driver's license and insurance card without any explanation, simply saying someone would return them later. Front desk staff have no legal right to retain state-issued ID against people's will. driver's license is personal property. Holding it without explanation, especially after I already submitted everything digitally, is a serious identity theft risk and a violation of basic property rights. What makes this even more unacceptable, I was the only patient there at the time. There was absolutely no reason my cards could not have been returned to me immediately. This was not a busy office scrambling to keep up. It was one patient, and the staff could not be bothered to hand back my own ID. When I asked why, she stormed back to her desk, shoved my cards at me, and snapped "okay I can give them to you NOW if you want." Completely unprofessional. The very next patient said he had only submitted online and had no physical cards. She was perfectly pleasant with him and asked no questions. I should not have to justify asking for my own ID back, and I should not be treated differently than the patient standing right behind me. The doctors here may be fine, but if the front desk experience reflects how this practice treats patients, that is a serious problem Update: The practice did reach out after my complaint, apologized, and said they will be doing corrective training and revisiting their ID policy. Awful experience. Office manager was SO rude. She spoke down to me. Like I was a child. I have never been treated with such disrespect at a medical facility. I got a Lazer treatment to address some redness on my nose where my glasses sit. It cost 350.00. It doesn't look like anything was done. When I messaged the office about addressing the same tiny area I was told it would cost another 100.00. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

I'm very grateful Dr. Pennoyer is my dermatologist! She's kind, cheerful and most importantly thorough!!! Dr. Jennifer explained the bruising on my lower leg, and took her time checking all my new tags and pre cancerous skin issues. I'm fair skinned and no sun worshipper, but I grew up in the 50's, when sun damage wasn't a topic of conversation; and we used baby oil at a lake or pool. I've learned a lot from her. Don't try to get an appointment there if you're on Medicare. I was told they couldn't see me until the Fall. However, a younger woman I know who is not on Medicare called this week and got an appointment for June 26,2024.. I guess they choose to discriminate against the elderly. Shame on them. By the way...the younger woman was a first time patient, not having a history with them at all. I guess that this Dr. prefers to do Botox, rather than help someone with a medical condition. read more

I have had 2 terrible in-office procedure experiences with this practice, which is why I left. The 1st was a biopsy they did on my elementary school-aged daughter. They promised they could keep her comfortable while it was done, and this was FAR from what happened! The second was supposed to be a "simple" removal of an under the skin thing near my belly button, that turned out to be a complex mini-surgery. I left traumatized and would never trust this practice again. Additionally, Dr. Pennoyer seems to mention and encourage expensive cosmetic services at every visit (I am in my early 30s & certainly don't need help with wrinkles or age spots, etc). read more

The office staff is unprofessional and rude. I got something tested/biopsied there, I didn't hear back from them for the results. I finally called them- they said they had no record of it, then just said not to worry, it was probably fine! Dr. Pennoyer has an awful bedside manner- she is rough and if she is annoyed, she will let you know it. It seems she doesn't care.... I would wholeheartedly not recommend. read more

Waited almost a year to get an appointment. Saw Dr Pennoyer, she was really nice and personable. But this rating is for the billing office. BEWARE if your insurance doesn't cover 100% of the cost. That lady from the billing office will HARASS you. She calls multiple times within a mont with the worst attitude, threatening to send your information to collections, even for the smallest balance! Also I was told that I don't need any follow up appointments after being prescribed a cream. After reading other reviews, I realized they do that to people of color a lot. I used to go to see Dr Pennoyer about 15 yeas ago as a kid and always liked her for her friendliness and her skills as a dermatologist and doctor. Unfortunately the office as a whole is elitist, prejudiced against people of a certain economic status, not interested in being helpful, and seemingly impossible to get an appointment slot. I made an appointment for a simple checkup half a year ago and was forced to reschedule twice because of issues on their end. When I showed up for the rescheduled appointment time I was turned away at the door because they didn't like my insurance even though I had explained I'd be prepared to pay out of pocket anyway. I have had an excellent experience here for years. They are very responsive and really work to see you quickly when you have a concern. They are even considerate once you are there! I had a scheduling conflict come up and shared that with them when I arrived for my appointment and they made sure to get me in and out as soon as possible so that I could meet my other (unexpected) obligation. My son had three visits in the last two months. They checked his temperature each time and said he had a temperature. We went home and checked with an oral thermometer and he didn't. We brought an oral thermometer to the last appointment. He didn't have a temperature with it but they still wouldn't see him because their thermometer showed he did. I'm very disappointed with this Doctor. My son has a precancerous cells that need to be taken off. We won't be back. read more

Unfortunately, I would not trust going to this provider solely based on the administrative staff. On multiple occasions I was provided with incorrect information by various staff members and received services under false pretenses. Specially, I was repeatedly informed that my insurance was accepted when in fact, it was not. I would never have begun services here if the staff were knowledgeable and informed when dealing with customers. It is one thing for front desk staff to not know what insurance is accepted but another when their billing/insurance staff do not know either. I'm not impressed with the "systems" and "doctor's policies" at this office. While I've seen Dr. Pennoyer a few times for regular skin checks, time has gone by and I've never received any of the "system" notices that said I was due for a regular visit. Despite the fact that I've referred dozens of people to this office as I am a health professional myself, I was told that I'm not in the "new system" and since it's been well over 3 years that "insurance considers me to be a new patient" (what????--I happen to know that means that a provider can bill me out as a new patient, but the insurance doesn't dictate my relationship with any provider) and since they're not taking new patients (glad you're so busy), I cannot get an appointment at this office. Doesn't seem like I'd want to be a patient at this office at this point anyway. So don't bother to call if you haven't been there in three years, because the "system" won't give you an appointment. read more

I go to this practice once every year. When I go there I see Jessie. He's great. He's VERY professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Although I only go to this practice for 20-30 minutes a year he treats you like an old friend. Like many medical practices these days the office has a factory assembly line atmosphere and you get the feeling it's geared for maximum profit rather then customer service. The staff seem stressed, under appreciated and unhappy. I wasn't the only one to notice this because I heard two women in the lobby, who must have been regulars at the practice, chatting about how everything revolves around the practice making money. read more

I asked friends for a recommendation for a dermatologist. Dr. Pennoyer was recommended with the caveat that she didn't have the best bed side manner. I thought, I don't need another friend, just someone to take care of my skin. When I called (in July) I was told that the next "new patient appointment" with the doctor was not until December. I could however see a PA in October. I opted to wait until December because both dates were several months out and if I was going to wait, I'd rather see the doctor rather than someone that work for the doctor. I called the office back in September because the spot on my cheek that had caused me to seek a dermatologist to begin with had started to change shape and texture. I asked if it possible to get in to just have that checked. I was told no, I had to wait for my scheduled December appointment. At my scheduled time, I was informed that Dr. Pennoyer was not available and my appt needed to be rescheduled. The next available "new patient appointment" was in March!!! I was also informed they had left a message. I'm not saying they didn't, just that that message was never on my voicemail. Why would I reschedule an appointment with an office that treats patients in such a manner? read more

Currently in the process of finding a new dermatologist after having been a patient here for nearly eight years. It's just such a hassle finding a new doctor, and I was always hoping that things might get better. They never did. The problems ... - Nearly impossible to get an appointment (booked out 6-9 months, minimum) - They will not answer their phone during office hours (or answer and hang up!) - Have only seen an actual medical doctor twice in eight years (always the assistant) - No flexibility or customer service orientation (even for emergencies, your out of luck) - Seem more interested in Botox, skin peals, cosmetic procedures, than basic care - Most frustrating office I have ever worked with (will test your patience/temper) Have tried to stick it out, and they have all my medical files and history, but I just can't continue to give them my business in good conscience. Perhaps it's a shortage of good dermatologists in the area that allows them to offer such poor service. read more

Waited months for an appointment for skin lightening. They tried to move my time last minute which I couldn't make. Had to wait once again months for another appointment. I called the day before to ask questions and they told me they couldn't do the procedure that day and they were cancelling me again. I guess only her time is valuable. I took two vacation days from work for nothing. Now refusing to return my $100 consultation fee. read more
