We saw several lactation consultants before we found Kristi, none of whom were able to get us where we wanted to be with our breastfeeding journey. Kristi was the only one who gave us tools (that worked!) and a concrete plan to go from triple feeding with oral ties and milk transfer issues to exclusively breastfeeding. She is extremely knowledgeable in oral function and is open and honest about what's going on and how long it may take for things to improve. She's flexible, considerate, and reliable. I highly recommend Latch Lactation! Kristi restored my confidence in my ability to breast feed and produce breast milk. I was in so much pain - physically and mentally - in my first week post partum, that I was considering giving up; Kristi helped me overcome every doubt and insecurity. Now, 4 months post partum, my baby boy is still fed 100% breast milk, and he's doing incredibly well in all areas of growth and development according to his pediatrician. Kristi came to my house as a lactation consultant when my baby was one month old. She was highly deficits-based and critical, even though my baby was exclusively fed breast milk after a NICU stay and was nursing more after being mostly bottle fed. Most alarmingly, she encouraged us to feed him less because she thought he was too heavy: at a ped appointment the next day, we learned he was 50th percentile length and 25th percentile weight. She shared misinformation about AAP recommendations and pushed unsafe sleep practices, even when we told her we weren't interested. She encourages families to ignore CDC breast milk storage regulations, even for newborns recently out of the NICU. Here are some of our favorite talking points of hers. No, we couldn't find citations. -Pediatricians accept big payouts from formula companies to push formula. -When you look around, you can tell the difference between adults who were fed at the bottle vs breast. The adults fed with bottles don't know how to love properly, because they were not exposed to enough oxytocin as babies. -Only American babies have reflux, and the reason why is that we burp them. Babies in Australia aren't burped, and they don't have reflux. (When we checked, all major Australian health orgs mention burping). I frequently see her in a local moms group telling moms to ignore their pediatricians. I knew enough to ignore her advice, but worry that other moms and babies might be harmed by her advice. read more

Kristi helped us through the early stages of having an infant. Even before we had our kiddo we took a bunch of her new parent classes and they were so helpful! She was funny, fun to listen to, and her tips have stuck with me. When our first kiddo showed up, he was not an easy eater for nursing and there were some serious challenges. My husband and I met Kristi at one of her breastfeeding classes and right from the start we could tell we were in great hands! The class was informative, thorough, encouraging and organized. We left feeling enthusiastic about breastfeeding, knowing we had a wonderful support person just a phone call or text away. Fast forward a little bit, to a week after our son was born and I was in panic mode. My son dropped 11% of his birth weight (10% being the "concern" threshold) and I was freaking out because I thought I was doing something wrong. Kristi was so professional and available for us. We had twin girls and came home from the hospital with virtually no information or success in breastfeeding. It meant that by day 3 we have very hungry, cranky and shrinking babies. Kristi came over almost immediately and got us a baseline and a plan to get on track with our babes. This meant that at our first dr's appointment we had a plan to discuss which was so empowering. I can't tell you what a relief it was for us. I had no information about pumping, she set me up with a plan that maximized my output via pump. She also weighed our babies and gave us huge peace of mind regarding the weight gain that is so vital for weeks after our first visit. Kristi helped us get connected with a tongue tie doctor also and that helped our latch experience tremendously. The best thing about Kristi is that she is so realistic, practical and accepting. Kristi is fantastic. Initially after the birth of my son, I had a lot of trouble with getting my son to latch. The LC at the hospital was horrible, made me feel like I wouldn't ever be able to nurse and pushed formula supplementation immediately. After two weeks of struggling on my own, I called Kristi. She came to my home and her evaluation was very thorough and she quickly found out what the problem was. She gave us great tips and exercises. I walked away feeling much more optimistic. She was supportive and researched based, and most importantly she made me feel like there was hope. After two weeks of exercises, I was able to get my son to nurse correctly and pain free. She is an absolutely miracle worker. I was lucky enough to have her breastfeeding class at Rose and when the hospital lactation consultants failed me and my child's pediatrician failed me I was ready to throw in the towel. I felt like a complete and utter failure that as determined as I was to breastfeed my baby I wasn't going to be able to. As a last hail mary I called Kristi. She fit me in right away and came to my home. She spent over an hour with me diagnosing my baby with oral ties and building up my confidence. She's incredible. After panicked second night home from the hospital with our newborn daughter refusing to eat for half the night, I reached out to Kristi and had a response & (luckily) an appointment that same morning. She stayed at our home for well over 2 hours and worked through a multitude of latch issues, positions & overall reassured some very worried new parents! She also was able to recognize our daughter had lip & tongue ties (which the lactation specialist at Rose never mentioned) and give us referrals to get it revised and also occupational therapy exercises to help as well. I took a breastfeeding class with her and I can not recommend her enough. I tell all my mommy-to-be friends that this is a MUST before baby comes. We learned so much during the class, but most importantly we felt empowered that we could succeed with parenting and breastfeeding. For me, breastfeeding was not an option, it was an absolute must and was SO important to us. The class helped us to hit the ground running and I nursed my daughter for two great years. We learned other things during the class as well just honestly related to not listening to all the crazy stuff you hear and trusting your instinct. Kristi saved my breastfeeding journey. Without Kristi as my lactation consultant I would not still be breastfeeding today. It took 5 long months for me to be able to exclusively breastfeed my son without the addition to pumping breastmilk and bottle feeding. We had tongue tie issues, then breast refusal, then other medical professionals discouraging me by saying he would never exclusively breastfeed without being fed breast milk via bottle. For me it was truly a heartbreaking journey, but with Kristi's help and companionship throughout this journey I was able to start exclusively breastfeeding my son at 5 months age, with more weight gain than he had ever had before. Without Kristi coming alongside me in my journey I would have never made it this far. I created a Yelp account to leave this review. I cannot recommend Kristi enough for new moms navigating breastfeeding. She scheduled me for a consult on very short notice, clearly understanding how stressful it can be when one runs into issues breastfeeding a newborn. Kristi was direct and didn't shy away from telling me where we could improve, yet she was kind and compassionate. In the hours after our consult, I had an emergency that required me to be separated from my baby. Kristi was immediately responsive to my questions about pumping and feeding the baby. Our baby also ran into some digestive issues, and Kristi checked in for days asking about progress and providing suggestions. We received some advice from a PA at our pediatrician's office that we didn't fully agree with, and it turned out Kristi's opinion on the matter was accurate, not the PA's. I don't believe I would have been successful exclusively breastfeeding my baby without Kristi, and we are infinitely grateful. read more

Words cannot express how highly I recommend Kristi Conroy and her lactation consultation services. Upon discharge from the hospital I felt I had it all figured out with breastfeeding. Within 24 hours I ended up blistered, in tears from pain with feeding and found out my son was not gaining enough weight. After a few sleepless days, anxiously awaiting the next check from our pediatrician, I reached out to Kristi who came recommended from Rose Hospital. She was able to see me and my son the next day and in the meantime texted me tips on how to deal with the pain and treat my blisters. Upon our initial visit, Kristi was quickly able to assess and diagnose our issue and got me back on track with successfully feeding my son. She also listened and helped ease a lot of the anxieties I was dealing with from birth and with breastfeeding. My journey with breastfeeding has continued on successfully directly due to her support and coaching and as we've faced a few hiccups (with oversupply and bottle feeding), Kristi has been available to support and help me through each one. I truly feel beyond thankful for her help and wish that lactation consults were a required part of the birth journey as I was lost without it and I'm sure many others face the same issues without knowing where to turn. read more
