From the very first month Joel incorporated extra activities with the sound mixing equipment and learning the basics of a few pop songs, not just sticking to the piano books. My kids have also tried guitar lessons for teens and the group rock band for little kids. We appreciate the option to try different things and to have remote lessons if the weather is bad (or whatever reason).

After hearing Reuben Gonzales play guitar/sing at a party recently, and knowing he was giving…read morelessons to one of the children of our host, I spoke with him about lessons. He was playing such a great mix of songs on his acoustic, it really motivated me to get off my *ss and play again. We spoke briefly, he's a great guy and I felt like it would be a fun experience. I'd maybe be classified as 'intermediate' skill level, I know most chord forms and read music albeit verrry slowly these days. I've had my first (hour) lesson, it was so fun and I already learned a lot. I had some 'bad' habits he corrected me on, started teaching me basic guitar music theory which I was totally ignorant of (also fun, this is not 'work') and taught me a couple great songs to practice some new chord forms. He uses an ipad plus writes things out as he teaches, and you get all of that from him after the lesson. He emails you the songs with the chord forms for guitar to practice. (I've now had 4 lessons, still fun every time, learning a lot of new chords and songs). Inexpensive too, compared to others I looked at, which surprised me as he's a really great teacher - not just a guy who plays great and 'tries' to be a teacher. He's a natural. HIGHLY recommend, he does half or one hour sessions here at LaunchPad in Golden. Also look for him playing at the El Rancho near Evergreen (weekends often), Holiday Bar in Morrison or the Buffalo Rose in Golden. Great to hire for private parties, which we'll be doing again soon as well.

The exact opposite of what I would have expected from an art studio specifically targeted toward children. The instructor did a wonderful job of explaining the painting activity step-by-step and she was great with the kids. At the end of the party, the owner brought out some balloons and let the kids go crazy. They appear to offer after-school programs and summer camps. I don't know much about these, but based on the birthday party experience, I would definitely consider exploring these further.
