We've gotten their tacos, empanadas, fried pork and rice, and quesadillas and you can tell their cooking comes from the soul. The gentleman (assuming the owner) is a real sweetheart and I'm able to feed my boyfriend and I for a very reasonable price, knowing it's not frozen and made fresh daily. Wow! This little restaurant has such delicious food. I fell in love with their pork belly, so yummy. Couple that with some of their hot sauce (careful, it's pretty spicy), and it's amazing. Tremendously fantastic food. The owners are a family and local. You fellow yelpers may recognize the main chef from the fantastic Spanish food truck that used to park in downtown Hartford every day. That being said, my warning is very clear to yelpers-you do not get what you pay for from this restaurant.....in a good way. My order of rice and beans for approximately $4.50 came with rice, beans, and delicious stewed chicken. My crispy pork taco, in addition to being the most delicious thing I've ever ate came with free fresh homemade salsa that was made that day. This is by far the best restaurant in Bristol CT! I have been there multiple times both eat in and take out. The super friendly staff always greets me with a smile and a great conversation. I feel like I've known them my whole life! Every time I've gone there I always leave laughing and either chomping at the bit for the food I've ordered or rubbing my belly in delight. I can not say enough good things about Latin Cravings! If I had to complain about one thing, they aren't open enough for me to order more food. Latin Cravings has fantastic food and service. The owner and chef Luis is extremely friendly and accommodating, going the extra mile to make patrons feel welcome. While visiting Latin Cravings we tried the Cubano sandwich, which melts in your mouth. We also tried the steak taco, beef empanadas, friend plantains with stuffed meet and fried pork with Yucca. All dishes were fresh, flavorful and satiating. The restaurant has a cool casual island vibe with outdoor picnic table seating. This place is what some might call a "hole in the wall"...and as a true hole in the wall, the food is simply EXQUISITE. It's a tiny place - for most folks, it might not even merit the name "restaurant" - as there simply is nowhere to sit inside (it looks like they may be getting ready to set up tables and chairs in the spacious outside area in front of the restaurant). Its sparse setting, however, is offset by the fact that the food is simply awesome. Honestly, there is nowhere in the Bristol area featuring such fresh, succulent and authentic Caribbean food. The last time I went there with an American friend, we ordered tostones (fried plantains), pinchos (a type of Dominican shish kebab), FRESH, REAL, and HOMEMADE chicharrón (pork rinds), and empanadas (similar to Jamaican beef patties...but BETTER). They also have tropical fruit batidos (shakes), like guayaba, parcha (passion fruit), and others. I WISH I could go there for lunch every day, but I work in Waterbury and it's simply too far for me to make it there and back for lunch...and anyway, if I did I'd pig out. The food is FRESH and AUTHENTIC, the premises is very clean, and the price is right. They certainly know their stuff when it comes to Caribbean cuisine. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Puerto Rican and/or Dominican food, or anyone who would like a good introduction to that cuisine. The owner is highly knowledgeable, fluent in English and Spanish and very service-oriented. You won't be disappointed. There is still quite a bit on the menu that I've yet to try, and it's going to be a regular stop-off for me when traveling through or near Bristol. read more
