If I wanted to move forward with the other surgeries, they should follow. He advised that a quote would be emailed, which never arrived. I called the office the following week and the receptionist made excuses for the business manager, who was to forward the quote. She'll be back in the office Monday and you'll receive the details then, yet no email arrived. I called a week later and my calls (phone number) had, apparently, been programmed to go sraight to voicemail automatically. I understand that Dr. Chin didn't want to move forward, but why wouldn't he simply just say this during the consultation, e.g., 'I don't believe you're a good candidate for this procedure.' or 'I don't think I'm the right doctor to proceed with this. Let me recommend someone else.'?? In fact, he ended the consultation with "Yes, we can definitely do this. The front desk will provide a quote and schedule, if you want to proceed." Based on this experience, he and his front desk staff were lieing to my face (and ears), which was both frustrating and incredibly unprofessional. If Dr. Chin didn't want to do it, he should just say so and/or have his staff advise. At least, he could show a little respect for others. He should not take people's money (the consultation fee isn't cheap), then lie to them and have your staff lie, as well. If you want an MD like this, he'll happily take your money! I'd rather trust my surgeon, one with integrity and basic respect for potential clients (patients).

I want to start by saying that this review is not about Dr. Silkiss. In fact, she came highly…read morerecommended by several experts in the field. Even my coworker reached out to a friend on the East Coast who works in this specialty, and the doctor she works for specifically recommended Dr. Silkiss (please see attached). My brief consultation with Dr. Silkiss was excellent. She was honest, knowledgeable, and gave me very helpful advice. I also want to recognize Allen, who was wonderful throughout the scheduling process. I had never considered involving my insurance, but he went above and beyond to help determine whether my insurance could cover part of the appointment. I was clearly told beforehand that the consultation fee would be $225. Several weeks later, however, I received an invoice stating that the appointment had been billed at $300, with insurance covering part of it and leaving me with roughly $160 to pay. Naturally, I called the office to understand why the amount was different from what I had been quoted. This is where my experience with Latrice became extremely frustrating. Initially, Latrice told me she wasn't sure why I had received the invoice and explained that their system sometimes automatically generates invoices incorrectly. During the same conversation, however, she changed the explanation and told me that I actually owed the amount on the invoice because consultations are charged at $300 when insurance is involved, whereas the fee is $225 when insurance is not involved. That distinction was never explained to me before my appointment. I therefore asked the office to honor the original $225 quote I had been given. Latrice asked me for proof, which I had. I forwarded her a voicemail from Allen clearly stating the $225 fee (please see attached). Even after listening to the voicemail, Latrice continued to argue with me about the cost. She then gave me yet another explanation--that the doctor can charge anywhere between $225 and $300 depending on how involved the consultation is. Again, this had never been communicated to me beforehand. In addition, my actual consultation with Dr. Silkiss lasted less than five minutes, which made the explanation particularly difficult for me to understand. Then she told me my insurance actually did not pay them anything! Which is even harder to understand since the invoice clearly states "insurance cover: ..." But what ultimately upset me most was not even the billing discrepancy. It was Latrice's demeanor during the conversation. At one point, she asked me, "So you want your appointment to be free?" That was incredibly disrespectful and completely unnecessary. I never asked for a free appointment. I simply asked the office to honor the price I had been quoted before my appointment. I have never left a bad review in my life. Anyone who looks at my previous reviews will see that I don't use reviews as a way to be vindictive or hurtful. I am leaving this one because I genuinely felt disrespected and believe patients deserve clear, consistent communication about what they will be charged. It is unfortunate because Dr. Silkiss is clearly a highly regarded surgeon and my own experience with her was very positive. My negative experience was specifically with how the billing issue was handled by the office staff, particularly Latrice. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously, because patients should not have to argue over a price after receiving a different explanation each time they ask for clarification.
