Lau Sun Mou Tea Company is this little tea shop that specialized in Chinese Tea.. and Chinese Tea only. How traditional is Lau Sun Mou Tea Company?? I don't know have you been to business that doesn't really care about marketing, making tons of money.. and have their principle... It is family business where you really can talk to and discuss tea with a Mr. Lau..... and you better know a little about tea...and if you can communicate with the same language, then you really have an enjoyable time. Though this is not David's Tea, you won't find all those fancy flowery tea or herbal calm your mind tea. Here all the tea tins are labelled in Big Chinese characters but if you look closely there's small English wording too. Bao Shan Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess) $36/lb - Has a really complex taste, just love the smokey, bold and strong nutty flavour - Dark roasted give this tea extra body and amber hue - great value as it last a few infusions Wu Yi Shan Shiu Xian Tea Class A (Water Fairy) $28/lb - First grade Shui Xian oolong tea is hand processed and allowed to oxidize to about 40% to 60%. - Medium roasted.. still have a slight smokey smell but more floral undertone...and a lot lighter in body Prices wish is cheaper than David's Tea or other franchised tea shop.. FYI, 1 lb equals to 450g... at Teaopia Iron Goddess is selling for $36/100 g... you can do the math... BTW, Oolong Tea may help in weight management and other health benefits... so I guess I need to go back to Lau Sun Mou to get more Oolong and drink them between my meals.... My friend is eyeing a $120/lb tea at Lau Sun Mou.. now it start sounding like a bargain! I want to try some of that! read more

Lau Sun Mou Tea is a store from Hong Kong. The store has been around for more than a decade. There is a wide array of options at Lau Sun Mou Tea. Majority of the tea offered are more traditional than what you would see at David's Tea. The owner is very knowledgeable and provide a lot of recommendations. She asked a few questions and was able to recommend tea options for me to purchase as a gift. Once, she even offered a free tea sample on a very cold winter day. Everything is very reasonably priced. This is my new spot to pick up all things tea. This place is run by a third generation of tea merchants originally located in Hong Kong. I'm someone who is in always search for delicious straight teas and this place has a wide variety of tea from China. They have way more in the shop than what is on the website so visit this place to check out the rest of what they have in stock. They have a wide variety of oolong, puerh, green and white tea. They also have a ton of puerh cakes which I'll definitely pick up next time. The lady working there is very kind and tried her best to help me get the teas that I would enjoy. This place sells tea by quarter pound. It seems like alot, but it would total to around $5 which is insanely great value compared to buying from David's tea which would come up to $20. Wonderful place. Has a lot of tea varieties. I found the website helpful as I don't speak cantonese. I found what I wanted and pointed it out to her when I got there. It was no-contact pick-up and pay. She was very helpful and confirmed what I wanted twice. It was a hard to see the grams/oz on the scale from the window pane but otherwise it was fine. Lau Sun Mou was open so I went in looking to test some of my rookie Tea education at a "Chinese" Tea Shop. Chinese enough that an English speaker came in and Mr. Lau completed the transaction by just putting on a smile and nodding his head in a friendly manner. Good thing I speak both his languages: Tea & Cantonese. I told him I got some decent Wenshan Baozhong and he thought I wanted something just as spectacular. $120.00/lb glass jar full of Tea was the direction he pointed me towards. Too bad the business doesn't make sense to serve Tea or give samples but he wasn't exactly trying to hardsell me in any manner anyways. Being rookie, I didn't know the weight linguo but all of a sudden he said "Korta". I was wondering what kind of chinese he's speaking of until I realize he was speaking an English word, QUARTER. Anyways, I told him I'll work my way towards the premium stuff in the future. For now, a quarter of this a quarter of that.... Bao Shan Tie Guan Yin($34/lb) High Mountain Green Oolong($24/lb) Aside from his normal large tin Loose Leaf stock, he also had some behind glass display that were packaged in smaller tins as well as Tea Cakes(Pu-erh) which is a commodity asset in itself. Great Chinese tea with very reasonable price (much cheaper than the more famous Chinese tea store like Ten Ren). However, make sure you know what type of tea you want to get before you visit. I've been buying tea from this place probably 10-14 years now. Don't be fooled by the reasonable price, the quality is good. They do not have Taiwan Tea, only tea from China. read more

Elderly Chinese couple in charge of the store were very friendly. They spoke little to no English, but managed to complete transaction with pointing and nodding. The store has both loose leaf tea and tea bags. Mostly saw green, herbal, oolong and white tea on shelves. The prices are dirt cheap to crazy expensive depending on the type of tea you get. Definitely one of the more intriguing places to buy tea. We bought Jasmine pearls that opened up into flowers when you put them in hot water (very cool to watch & convenient to clean after since the tea leaves are all connected) and a Jasmine Rose blend. Both were very enjoyable to sip. Will definitely be coming back for more quality tea. P.S. Watch the door at the entrance, it only opens halfway before hitting the slanted sidewalk. read more

Came into the store to purchase tea leaves for use as wedding favours. The owner was very patient going over the options for us, and was helpful in recommending what type of tea and how to package. Prices were very reasonable and lots of teas to choose from! read more
