I stopped by in a recent visit to Toronto when it made more sense to wait for my wife than to drive back and forth from our hotel in Mississauga amidst... hey did you know that (unscientific as this may be) traffic may actually be worst on weekends than during the week? Reason is that, while many folks commute using public transit, car owners drive to their destinations on weekends. This is a small, sun-shiny kind of space, with Wifi. The front part, especially, is a good place to bask in the rays. They seem to offer a few food choices for breakfast and lunch, but since I was just looking for a place to hang out for 90 minutes, I was going to be "minimal patron". I thought about another coffee, but decided against it, since I already had double the caffeine I usually consume before noon, I opted for the "cheapest" choice, in the form of a Perrier. Cha-ching and "ouch" and $3.74 later (OK it's CAD, but still), I'm left wondering whether I could have made a better choice: as in, a cookie and that bottle of water I had with me?

The creator/owner, Ella Pang, warmly greeted my mother and I. (She was physically distant and masked.) She carefully let us try every flavour available that day of her infamous Pang's Bean Cakes! But she sells more than cakes (think of moon cakes - dense little cakes made of all sorts of bean), in fact she also makes fresh bean milk daily (think soy milk - but made with different beans: chickpea, red bean and black bean). So we left with a LOT more than expected! Highly recommend the cakes as gift items for older, Asian relatives who are more health conscious or prefer less sweet or savoury desserts. ATMOSPHERE: A cute little coffee shop, located in a strip plaza with ample parking. A bright and open space - too bad you can't dine in right now... Currently only offering take out. The flavours are asian - Ella is Chinese and a lot of the items are flavours she grew up with. My mum LOVES the bean cakes, because they are not too sweet and fit her asian palette well also. Our faves include the Black Ginger Turtle Bean Cake, and the Green Pea Cake with Adzuki (aka red bean) Filling! The tastes carry the genuine flavours of the ingredients, and cakes pair very well with tea. We also love their bean milk. Get a cold jug to enjoy for a week or two, or better yet - grab a hot cup to go! So good for winter months. Savoury like soy milk, and filling. Another great item on the menu for cold weather? The veggie soup! PACKED with various vegetables, it's a hearty soup guaranteed to warm and fill you up. I watched him meticulously cleaning all the cooking equipment, espresso machine, countertops, surfaces, and cleaning the floors after serving his customers. I was very impressed by his work ethic and dedication. I tried the penne pasta with mushroom and sausage topped with Alfredo sauce. It came with garlic bread and salad. Their number one ordered meal. So good! The penne pasta with rossa sauce (rose sauce) came with chicken and mushrooms. I prefer the Alfredo sauce as it was rich creamy and delicious. Well this cafe in the Parkway Honda is very different. Irene, the lady whose in charge is an amazing cook. I don't own a Honda car but I love eating here! Her sandwiches are so delicious, lightly flavoured but you know she uses good ingredients especially when she slices fresh ham right in front of you. Not only sandwiches but she serves fresh pizza out of the oven, perogies at odd times, specials are different every day. I'm jealous the fact the workers here don't have to leave their work place to have an awesome lunch! If you're near by, come in try it. There is a 2 hour seating limit and they have free wifi with paying customers. Got an iced tea and it was refreshing and the perfect pick me up after lunch. Parking is a little tricky since it's street parking right outside of the cafe, which is green P and has to be paid for. Overall, it was a cute environment and had a great selection of drinks and sweets to choose from. Check them out if you're in the area.

I grabbed an iced latte to sip on while I worked and it was tasty. The service was very friendly. There's street parking out front but it is limited, so keep that in mind when heading there. I lucked out and got the only spot available at around 2pm. Overall, I would keep this coffee shop on my rotation if I lived near by and I would totally come back to try their adorable macarons.
