First visit here on a Sunday night to support my girl Ms. Val. Assigned seating was silly business. I understand why but I still don't like it, especially with such a small group open seating limited to a section would have been appreciated. It was cool to see a diverse line-up. Wish they included more female comedians, so many great ones out here! Service was good. Drinks were served with a smile. I appreciated that there were more than just two NA drink options. Bathrooms were clean, but only one dispenser had soap. Providing some snack options would be nice or permit outside food. Maybe partner with a neighboring Taqueria or Pizzeria. There are 3 comedy clubs in the Gaslamp, and all are pretty close to each other. American Comedy is the fanciest, Mad House is the bottom bargain that's hardly ever open, and Laugh Factory is the basement cave of comedy, literally. I'm not kidding. It has stone walls and is below street level. I mean, water dripping down the walls stone. It's a fairly small club, so don't sit in the front if you don't want to be the subject of some crowd work. You may not have too much choice, because they fill the front first. So come later. And you may not need to get the early/first entry ticket either. We had them, but they didn't let in til 7:15-7:30 for the 8:00 Fri night show. And there wasn't line, so we had been strolling around nearby for a while. Parking is a problem, especially with the new "Petco event zone" $10 an hour that's supposed to be enacted soon. So maybe rideshare it down instead. Laugh Factory has a 2-item per person minimum like most clubs,but they don't serve food. So don't come hungry, lol. A glass of soda was $5 plus tax, and obviously alcohol will be a lot more than that. Staff was nice, and ordering was easy because we ordered the first round before the show started. Then we just repeated the same order part-way through the show. As with most comedy shows, you come for the headliner. If you get lucky, a couple of the openers will be funny too. We had 6 total, and the first 3 were a write-off. The headliner was great, and the 2 immediately beforehand were funny. read more

Went to see Tiffany Haddish 3/20/26 first showing. We got there by 7:00 pm. As we were guided to the seats, a the 1st two rows were taken. Had a couple of areas with pilara obstructing the views. As more people came in, the hotter it got. There is a two drink minimum. By the time Tiffany came on stage the audience were all fanning ourselves and dying of heat. Even Miss Haddish was sweating on stage!! ** for the amount of costs of tickets and drinks- the company seriously NEEDS to invest in waaaaaay better AC. While the building may be old, mini splits or something can help reduce the freakin sauna experience. Or is this a gimmick to get folks to buy more drinks to cool off? read more

I was so disappointed about how janky this place was! I've been to the Laugh Factory in LA and kind of expected the same thing. There is no food, we were offered a bag of pretzels to buy and that was it. Service was pretty bad. We ordered a bucket of Coronas and we're brought a bucket with no ice and no limes. We asked for limes and the guy brought cut lines in his hand like a fist of them not even with a napkin. It was so gross so we just said no thanks. Bathroom was pretty gross and whole place just looked dingy and unkept. We went to see Tiffany haddish and she was awful but the opener who was a San Diego comedian was great! Based on the service quality I don't think I would come back here but I think they just need to power wash that place, train their staff, and invest in air conditioning. Ive read reviews before I came and was hesitant. But was pleasantly surprised with the service and comedians. I bought first entry and was given the choice of front row or booth. They advised as it was just my wife and I others would be seated with us. we chose front row. The server got to us quick and we got our drinks. Pretty fast and another round bout half way Through the show. Place feels old school and true comedy club. The seater was amazing to us and very informative on seating. The Laugh Factory needs to do better 2 drink minimum was ok, ordered chips ran out of salsa as per #jason. That's totally unacceptable also there needs to be more of a selection of appetizers. Very strange experience. We've been to the one in Vegas a few times and this place was odd. We bought show tickets online and showed up 10 minutes before show. Came on a Saturday night...there were maybe 4 people there already. The bouncer, greater, seat assigner was very rude, no other way to explain it. I had to flag someone down for drinks. They don't enforce any 2 drink minimum as the gals sitting next to us had only water the whole time. Sounded like they were giving free tickets away to people walking by. It did fill up a little bit. Maybe 25 people total. Sounded like there were many family members of the headliner comedian. A few of the comedians were entertaining but I would skip this spot. read more

The place is pretty small. The seating in here is pretty crappy unless your close to the stage. But even then if you are sitting where theirs a pillar it can blocks your view you have to toggle back and forth with your head depending on where the comedian is on the stage to see them. Especially if they walk from once side of the stage to the other. Also the bartender recommended ordering at the beginning of the show but I wanted to order later in the show and I couldn't order because there was no bartender to be found. I was so thirsty being in there because it was quite humid so I stayed dehydrated most of the show. Menu is pretty minimal. They do not sell food here. I suggest grabbing a bite before or after the show. Also restroom is really small and gets busy. So I'd recommend going before the show or right before it ends. Otherwise your going to be waiting in a crammed line in a small space. Also leaving is a pain. It's all due to the small space and only one exit. I would also say from my experience here it seems that this is a spot where comedians test out new material. Which is fine but the show may not be what your expecting so I wouldn't have extremely high expectations unfortunately. I have yet to see an amazing set here! read more

One star because the only thing that was great were the bouncers who threw out people who tried to sneak in and kept them out. This is is no review on the comedian. My boyfriend and I saw Matt Rife last night and it was amazing! If you get a chance to see him, def would recommend. Back to this location, it's underground in a basement. And since this was sold out, they made you sit 6 to a booth/table. And it was a very very tight squeeze. If you see those pictures others posted, it's very very small. Not big at all. They don't accommodate you at all. They don't have food but I saw people with chips, but not sure how they ordered it. They have QR codes and I added the picture here. Very sketchy because there's no prices on anything. Def overpriced! That night each "waiter" had sections of rows. And he would take orders per row, give them their drinks and move on to the next row; they close your tab and don't keep an open one. As you can imagine that takes forever. The show was supposed to start at 8p. But it started more like 830p. And by the time the lights were out and the first opening act was on. It wasn't until halfway into the act that we finally got our drinks. And forget about ordering more drinks after that! It's hard to flag the waiter and then trying to focus on the show. If you do end up here, I'd say, order all your drinks at once. Because I was the DD, I just ordered 2 Pepsis and my boyfriend's drink. read more

Like others have said, I should have read the reviews before booking my ticket. The one positive is that the comedians were funny. I get they are trying to make a living. This negative review is really directed towards the owner and management. It doesn't seem like they are reading these reviews or making an attempt to improve the customer service or environment. Here's the cons: - the room is pretty small basically in a basement under ground. Frankly seems like a fire and emergency hazard give there is only one narrow entrance up and down the stairs for basically over a 150 people. It took forever to get out of the room because it became a bottle neck situation. - there is poor air circulation inside and it's pretty hot and stuffy. It smells like old, wet carpet. Even the comedians commented on how hot the room was. If you sit next to someone with BO, you'll be smelling them all night. - DO NOT fall for the VIP package, it's totally BS. You basically pay more for nothing. No preferential seating or early admission. The ticket doesn't say what time to come in. We arrived 30 minutes early and more than half of the seats were already filled. We got to the front of the line and the bouncer said there was just one line for all the guests. What the hell did I pay extra for then? - there are no assigned seatings. It's first come first serve but you don't even get a choice. You walk in and there's a militant guy telling everyone where to sit, down to each individual in your party. You must come in together with your whole group or else they will seat you separately. - there are a ton of crappy seats because there are a lot of vertical beams or other guests blocking the view. They added a bunch of cheap seats around the room that don't even have accessibility to a table to put your drinks or food on, so all night you have to hold onto them in your lap. If you're afraid of getting sick or COVID, stay clear of here because you can basically feel other people's breath on you. That's how close you are. - they FORCE you (not joking...I declined and the guy said no you have to or you'll need to leave) to order 2 drinks minimum and conveniently do not put pricing on their menu (their drinks are over $10-15 each) so you end up spending another $20-30 plus a FORCED tip of 18-25% (because there was no other option on their tiny machine...how convenient). Note the drinks taste awful and their sodas are not properly carbonated. And the best part is, it takes about an hour to get your basic drinks. They take orders from the front to the back of the room, so if you're in the back, you'll have only 20-30 mins to consume all your drinks before the show ends. - the bathroom was biohazard disgusting. Urine everywhere, smells awful, missing toilet paper. I'd recommend you hold your pee and go somewhere else. - they do not let you take any pictures. I mean after spending $100 don't we deserve to take a picture to remember the night or the comedians we saw?! I'm really disappointed in Laugh Factory. I would never return until the owner looks into these issues and makes the appropriate changes. At this rate, they'll go out of business. I don't believe customers will put up with this. Between the parking that cost $26, unwanted drinks for $30, and an overpriced ticket of $58, no thank you. This place is a scam. I'll be taking my money somewhere else. read more

I came here for a comedy show this past weekend and was surprisingly pleased. Based on preview reviews, I was expecting terrible service and a stuffy room. I will admit, I was a bit warm when we entered, but the place cooled down as the show went on. I don't know if that means that they actually have AC (previous reviews said they didn't), but if my regularly overheating husband felt comfortable, that's good enough for me. No food served here and the drink options are minimal. The service was efficient though and the staff was nice. The room felt more spacious than the patriotic comedy club down the street so we were comfortable all evening. Not sure if the VIP tickets were worth it for people - they did get to sit in booths but also it wasn't any closer than GA tickets. read more

I bought tickets for Sunday Fathers Day show . I purchased the early entry . Upon arrival we could not find any open doors . All doors that were marked were also locked . We happened upon three other folks with the same issue . Turns out one of the was set to perform . Finally at 6:45 I knocked loudly on the door ( the show was to start at 7 pm ) When the gentleman opened the door : I explained we and the three others were there for the show . He said " show is cancelled " no explanation, no apology. No notice . Not only did we leave a Fathers Day celebration, but we drove an hour , paid 30$ to park and waited for 45 minutes . He then brought " the Manager " she had the exact words . " shows cancelled " no apology. When I asked " why weren't we informed "? Again explaining we drove an hour . She said " the notice should go out in 10 minutes "! That was the scheduled start time . It's been 26 hours ... still no cancellation, no refund , nothing ! This is no joke ! Horrible customer service . I would expect , some sort of apology, instant credit and compensation for our parking and time ! Shame on you Laugh Factory ! I have no choice to now spend more time : disputing the credit card charge and writing reviews . read more

First off, the door guy lied and said that the Mad House Comedy Club and this location were the same thing. We were trying to find the Mad House, so we trusted the door guy and walked in. We were told that we had to buy two items off the menu per person, so we settled on a mixed drink. It came and was pretty tasty. It was maybe 5-6oz. They charged $17 for it, which wasn't listed on the menu. So after 4 drinks our total came out to $71.74. The whole place smelled like urine, and I notice the staff spraying Fabreeze multiple times. It was open mic night, so the talent was ehh. Do not recommend. Avoid. read more

The only thing that is laughable at this place is the fact that we paid extra for "VIP tickets", came to the venue 45 minutes early, and somehow still got our party seated at the most comically terrible seat in the house. Avoid this place at all costs. My husband and I + another couple paid for VIP seating and arrived 45 mins early. The room was half full and we were sat in the back when we asked about the VIP seats the man who sat us said "oh you're too late for that" and then put us in a booth with a huge beam in front of us. We asked to move to the other side of the room, in the same row, he said no we asked why he said "because that's just how it is" and walked away. We sat in a hot room for the next 45 mins waiting for drinks. A server made an announcement he was the only server there and he'd get to everyone.... After he announced that never saw him again. We never saw any servers. I urge any comedian thinking of preforming at this location PLEASE DONT... go anywhere else in San Diego and your fans will still go and see you! Love going to the Laugh factory in Long Beach with my husband. We were in SD for the weekend and decided to give this location a go despite the reviews. I'm glad we didn't pay attention the negative reviews because we had a great time. I laughed a lot, drinks were good, over all a 5 star experience. Great comedians tonight! This was our first time visiting this new San Diego location. Overall it's a nice club in a hot location in Gaslamp. Service was a bit slow and the menu has major room for improvement with only chips and salsa or a wrap from the vendor on the sidewalk. The ONLY beer options were Coors Light or Modelo. I'm sure they'll work out the kinks as this new business gets settled in. read more

RUN AWAY and DO NOT EVER come here, the staff are truly inhumane and rude. I will never be back for a comedy show at any Laughing Factory (ESPECIALLY THIS SAN DIEGO LOCATION) if Management doesn't change or train their staff on basic human decency. 1 star because unfortunately I cant give the employees here negative infinity. Especially the girl who likes to yell at guests, needs a serious training on manners. Some people are hard of hearing and are neurodivergent, you could have EASILY walked up to me and TALKED to me, not SCREAM at me in front of 80+ people. I drove 8 hours and paid for hotel, tickets, and much more to have ONE good night and instead of leaving A COMEDY show LAUGHING, I was CRYING and BALLING my eyes out. Worst guest experience and treatment I've had anywhere, I am in utter disbelief at the lack of empathy or patience in staff. The show opened way later than it stated, so I can understand her irritability at having to work longer hours but as a GUEST that is NOT MY FAULT and you should NOT take your anger out on people. What kind of customer experience is this? I should have read the reviews on this place prior and never came, but lesson learned. It seems everyone who's posted shares a similar experience about poor staff members. Ultimately my question is directed at Management - how can you enable this behavior? TLDR: Reader, AVOID AVOID AVOID - go spend your money at a different venue where you are both a welcomed and valued guest.
