I was here with a group for a convention on a Tuesday night and it was still decently busy. There was a great crowd for the dueling pianos and lots of people out celebrating birthdays. This was my first time at the venue but had a really great time. The waitress (and clearly bartender) was on top of their stuff and we got drinks super quickly. The pianists (if you can call them that since they also played guitar and drums) were super fun and lively. They had a ton of fun props to make singing and celebrating such fun. My department runs a pre-orientation program for incoming first year transfer students at the university of San Diego. Prior to going to check out the Padres game last Friday, we went to the Shout House Garage and we couldn't have had a better experience. Setting things up for our party was extremely easy. Also, upon arrival, once the students were settled, appetizers started coming out almost immediately. We were placed in Zebbie's area and it couldn't have gone smoother. He was extremely attentive, friendly with the students, and made great recommendations. I always appreciate folks that when you ask staff their opinion of entrees, they're able to give you a direct recommendation. He did that! I would totally take my students back to Shout House. I would also request to sit in Zebbie's area again. Easy 10/10. read more

My friend wanted to experience dueling pianos for her bachelorette weekend so we decided to check out Shout House. I made a reservation in advance and paid for Gold seating which was $384. We arrived to find that they put us in Silver seating, and when asked what happened they initially just said there was a mistake on their end and that our only option was to keep our seats or split our party up to have majority in Gold seating which made no sense. Eventually they were able to move us all to Gold seating, however it was disappointing as we should've been given front row seating from the start and had to settle for cramped tables further back. It took awhile for our bride to get her song request and to be brought on stage as the first duo seemed to favor other parties, eventually after speaking to the staff the second duo was much more accommodating and made our friend feel special. Overall our bride had a good time but being the person to plan the outing it wasn't the best experience. I still don't understand how we were mistakenly seated in Silver Seating. We spent over $1k here and it didn't really feel worth it. Also if you're looking to request a song make sure you give money with it or else it'll be ignored, and make sure you don't double tip, they charge automatic 20% + 4% surcharge. read more

Had a blast at dueling pianos, a little cheesy, but the performers kept it rolling and entertaining with little to no lulls. Food is pretty basic bar food, service was top notch. I continued to request songs & pay the pianist to shout out my sister for her bachelorette weekend & they continued to ignore it while only calling certain crowds up. At one point, I placed more in front of the piano player to draw attention to address my sister, what he did: put the money in his jar & then moved the song request sheet! He then STILL ONLY called out other bachelorettes. My sister was so excited for this place and requested for us to take her on HER WEEKEND. They truly do not care for their audience unless you're the type to flirt for attention. At one point, they called the other bachelorettes up to the stage by name, bought them shots & still ignored my sister. Absolutely disgusting of this staff & definitely do not recommend this place. Had a great time at the Shout for a team night event! They hosted our company event and the staff were so fun, easy to work with, and engaging. The shout house is a clean dueling piano bar. I love the rustic charm of the furnishing mixed with the bright neon lights and top quality sound equipment. The bar staff were so friendly and sweet. I got a mocktail called their fire dragon - a sweet mix of dragonfruit syrup, pineapple juice, mint, and soda water. So refreshing. The food was an interesting array of salad, pita and hummus, sliders of chicken or cheeseburgers, veggie and cheese platter, Mac n cheese balls. Delicious but not warm... Shout! Is a great spot for an entertaining evening. The talented singers/musicians are the reason to go, they are engaging and talented. The crowd was having a great time! There service was decent, good, but not great. Our server took a break around 9 or so, which seemed odd, considering they didn't open until 7:00. The drink options were decent, and prices were about what I expected for this type of venue. Draft beers and seltzers were approximately $9, cocktails $16. Communication was lacking though, as friends had a reservation, but when we called earlier in the day, we were told no reservations were needed, plenty of availability. When we arrived to a less than friendly door security (ID and bag check) and manager, we were informed there wasn't as much availability without a reservation. They do take them, but not supposedly the day of, even though we explained we were joining another group. The entertainment deserves 5 stars, but the venue much less. Ideally I would give 3.5 stars. Worth a visit for a fun night, but ai recommend you call the day before or be a bit disappointed. read more

Servers kind of rude, they take forever to get to the table, the music is cool but make sure you go on a Saturday or something because if you go any day you're open apparently they close earlier than it says on maps, and they stop playing music an hour and a half before closing. read more

Okay so this place is definitely for people who like a show. We like piano bars because we get to listen and sing and dance to good music. This was more of a show and a bit cheesy for our liking but if you like that kind of place you'll have a great time! The food was pretty good and our server was nice. The 3 stars (and maybe should be lower) is because about an hour and a half into our stay, someone comes up to us and says they put us at the wrong table and we have to move. That was BS. A big party came in and they wanted our table. It made us feel like crap so we left. Don't think I'll be back here again. Very disappointing for a place that's supposed to be all about good vibes. Update: the management did the right thing and refunded the ticket and upgrade fees. I do appreciate the accountability. read more

On our last night in San Diego we asked the concierge for a suggestion. We wanted something far enough away ee could walk our dinner at The Melting Pot but not so far we would have to Uber back. She had complimentary tickets ( usually a $10 cover) to The Shout House, a dueling piano bar. We almost didn't go and let me tell you, that would have been a sad mistake. We walked in and while it was a little loud for us older folks, we looked around and took in all that was happening. There were people there much older than us as well as people barely old enough to be in a bar. The pianist (s) were hard at work a the drummer was rocking out too. We sat down. Let me tell you, that was the most fun we have had in a long time! All three musicians played multiple instruments, piano, harmonica, sax, and drums. The songs were everything from Slim Shady to Elton John and everything in between. Slips of paper were placed on the piano, a nod was given and off they went. The crowd sang along and we all laughed! Some of it was silly but ALL of it was fun! Highly recommend. About 10:30 the older crowd started making their way out, us included, early morning flight but we would have stayed until closing time. We might have paid for it the next day but had we not had a plane to catch we absolutely would have stayed. It was fun to see multiple generations having so much fun together and the music was incredible. We had just eaten so we didn't order food but what we saw on other tables looked good. Go!! Visited here for the first time when at a weekend business meeting in SD. Great little joint! (not little at all) We had a great time and even a few of us went up on stage and danced. The piano players are great at getting the crowd going, and singing. They have food, a full bar and plenty of room for seating, but be warned, there's standing room only by 8-9pm. If you know that you will be visiting, I would strongly suggest getting reservations, especially if you have more than 2 people. You are guaranteed to have a fun time here for sure. I was so excited to dine here since I had heard such great things about this place! I ended up leaving a little disappointed and not sure if I would return the next time I'm in San Diego. I dined at Shout House with a bachelorette party of 10 and had made a reservation well in advance. They separated our party into 3 smaller tables which was okay, not ideal, but I understandable. One of the tables we were seated at was literally right behind a pole. Like one person could not see the stage with the table in the location. I asked the staff if it were possible to move the table in front of the pole because of this. After all, this is a dinner and a show. They told me no and said nothing could be done about it. That was just a damper on the night. I doubt we are the first to complain about this table. I don't understand why we could place the table on front of the pole or get another table all together. They should not have that table there for anyone. I will admit the drinks were great! I had one of the mocktails made into a cocktail and that was delicious. I also tried their version of an espresso martini and loved it! I usually hate martinis. The food was not good. I ordered the vegetarian burger and was so disappointed. It was so dry it kept falling apart as I ate it. It was awful. We order some mozzarella sticks and those were fine, but nothing incredible. read more

The celebration of a friend and 17 other friends was an awesome experience for us all. We had reservations which allowed us to be vip tables and margarita towers places on each table allowed us to enjoy drinks and the show without too much interruptions. The dueling piano talent was outstanding. They had personality and musical talent which enfolded audience participation and musical singing by all who attended. The room became crowded as the evening progressed along with laughter and smiles. Many cameras or phones were video taping the evening. It's a huge amazing show, the piano players are soooo talented and have amazing voices! I think the price of the ticket and your choice of seating was completely reasonable with how much fun everyone had. Even service was fantastic! It was packed inside, tables touching tables but we were still checked up on very frequently and were able to get refills quite fast! Excellent service! Food was typical bar food but it was still really great! The only downside we had was if you want the piano players to play a song you request, they will most likely do it if you put money down. Our entire group put requests in with money every time, one of my friends even bought both of the piano players drinks and they still didn't play our songs. Crazy crowds enjoy the musical talent of several pianists, vocalist, sax, guitar and drummers. The dueling pianos was great fun and the artists were multi-skilled and provided a great combination of comedian, music, improvisation, ... It was a lot of fun. The place is mostly a bar, but they also have a modest menu with brugers and salad. Dont go there for the food but for the entertainment. The pianists were so talented! They could play all the requested songs. And different instruments. There were 5 musicians there that night and they would cycle out for breaks. To request a song, you fill out a note and drop it off on the piano with some cash. We were there from 6:30pm until after almost midnight. The party was still going strong when we left. It was like one big sing along karaoke party! We had eaten next door at Garage so we had only drinks here. I stopped in to Shout by myself while staying in the Gaslamp quarter. I couldn't believe my ears or eyes. What an amazing experience! There were three pianists who rotated through the dueling pianos and the music NEVER stopped. Audience members would come up to the tip jar and request songs. Sometimes, the pianist would stop them and make them do things, such as answer questions, or dance to the song they requested or any number of funny to slightly off color things. It was hilarious! My wife and I were visiting San Diego from out of town and were told by multiple people to try out the Shout House in Gaslamp - and we were not disappointed! Fun environment and the crowd was really into the show. The drinks were expensive relative to some of the other bars we visited, but considering the location and atmosphere that is to be somewhat expected. Wait staff was busy, so the service was slow at times, but overall the experience was great and next time we are in SD we put this on our list of things to do again! Come early with reservations at 6:00, or come late as the party is still going at 10:00 with more room to sit and get in the door. read more

The artists on 10/24/25 really blew my mind and honestly need to go on americas got talent or the voice. I really wanted to enjoy The Shout House for my birthday, but the experience tonight was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived around 9:30pm and asked security how long the wait would be. We were told no more than 30 minutes, so we decided to stay. To their credit, the line moved quickly. Once inside, my friend paid $20 each for the four of us, ($80 total) and right before paying, we noticed a large sign featuring Hulk Hogan stating "no refunds." That should have been the first red flag. The moment we walked in, we were met with a completely overcrowded, wall-to-wall packed space. We went up a few steps toward the bar, but there was literally no room to stand. Security told us to move. We went to the other side of the bar, and security there told us we couldn't stand there either. We asked where we were supposed to go, and the guard just pointed toward other areas that were equally packed. There was simply no place to stand safely. At that point, it felt like one of two things was happening: * They were either over capacity which is where a fire marshal should be tipped off due to safety issues or * They were packing people in because "no refunds" means they profit whether you stay or leave. To make matters worse, several tables were occupied by groups who weren't ordering anything and had been sitting for long periods, while paying customers without reservations had nowhere to go. From a business standpoint, this is a poor setup and creates a bad experience for guests. The music and vibe were great, but we ended up leaving within 45 minutes because we had nowhere to stand without being told to move. For $80, it felt like we paid for an experience we never actually got. Security was doing their jobs, the issue is management and overcrowding. Until they rethink how they handle capacity, flow, and customer experience, I can't recommend this place. read more
