When you wake up with a hoarse throat and sore muscles, you know you had a great night of singing and dancing. Had a blast at dueling pianos, a little cheesy, but the performers kept it rolling and entertaining with little to no lulls. Food is pretty basic bar food, service was top notch. I was amazed how well our server handled what we needed along with everything else he had going on.

Had a great time at the Shout for a team night event! They hosted our company event and the staff were so fun, easy to work with, and engaging. The shout house is a clean dueling piano bar. I love the rustic charm of the furnishing mixed with the bright neon lights and top quality sound equipment. The bar staff were so friendly and sweet. I got a mocktail called their fire dragon - a sweet mix of dragonfruit syrup, pineapple juice, mint, and soda water. So refreshing. The food was an interesting array of salad, pita and hummus, sliders of chicken or cheeseburgers, veggie and cheese platter, Mac n cheese balls. Delicious but not warm... Overall, it was an amazing experience as the piano players know how to work and hype up a crowd with showtunes

Shout! Is a great spot for an entertaining evening. The talented singers/musicians are the reason to go, they are engaging and talented. The crowd was having a great time! There service was decent, good, but not great. Our server took a break around 9 or so, which seemed odd, considering they didn't open until 7:00. The drink options were decent, and prices were about what I expected for this type of venue. Draft beers and seltzers were approximately $9, cocktails $16. Communication was lacking though, as friends had a reservation, but when we called earlier in the day, we were told no reservations were needed, plenty of availability. When we arrived to a less than friendly door security (ID and bag check) and manager, we were informed there wasn't as much availability without a reservation. They do take them, but not supposedly the day of, even though we explained we were joining another group. The entertainment deserves 5 stars, but the venue much less. Ideally I would give 3.5 stars. Worth a visit for a fun night, but ai recommend you call the day before or be a bit disappointed.

Nice music and entertaining performance. Audience can get engaged too, if interested. Food quality is above average and prices are reasonable. Cocktails and drinks are good.

Servers kind of rude, they take forever to get to the table, the music is cool but make sure you go on a Saturday or something because if you go any day you're open apparently they close earlier than it says on maps, and they stop playing music an hour and a half before closing.

$10 cover fee A variety of drinks to select. Plenty of seating and standing room Staff is super friendly and their service is really fast. The prices are really good. The customer ranges from a variety of different age however, it's always drama free. It has a very relaxed feeling so flip-flops and jeans are OK. The performance by the musicians and singers are super fun and I spent a great time. On a weekday.

Shout! House is so much fun. The performers are amazing with so many instruments played besides piano. Seems like a great place to celebrate your birthday or bachelorette especially if you want to get into stage to participate. The drinks are about the prices you'd expect from a downtown bar but are pretty good. The food choices are decent. The latest time to get a reservation is 6:30 and it can get crowded pretty fast so if you want to guarantee a seat then you need to pre-pay. Overall highly recommend visiting for a night of laughs and singing.

Had an absolute blast here last night!!! The band was incredible; they were all so talented!!!! Didn't have any food here but the drinks were great. Lots of singing, some dancing, and tons of fun.

On our last night in San Diego we asked the concierge for a suggestion. We wanted something far enough away ee could walk our dinner at The Melting Pot but not so far we would have to Uber back. She had complimentary tickets ( usually a $10 cover) to The Shout House, a dueling piano bar. We almost didn't go and let me tell you, that would have been a sad mistake. We walked in and while it was a little loud for us older folks, we looked around and took in all that was happening. There were people there much older than us as well as people barely old enough to be in a bar. The pianist (s) were hard at work a the drummer was rocking out too. We sat down. Let me tell you, that was the most fun we have had in a long time! All three musicians played multiple instruments, piano, harmonica, sax, and drums. The songs were everything from Slim Shady to Elton John and everything in between. Slips of paper were placed on the piano, a nod was given and off they went. The crowd sang along and we all laughed! Some of it was silly but ALL of it was fun! Highly recommend. About 10:30 the older crowd started making their way out, us included, early morning flight but we would have stayed until closing time. We might have paid for it the next day but had we not had a plane to catch we absolutely would have stayed. It was fun to see multiple generations having so much fun together and the music was incredible. We had just eaten so we didn't order food but what we saw on other tables looked good. Go!! You won't be sorry!

First time here! Great Vibe! From Security, to hostess at check in! The bartenders were friendly and attentive. And waitress too! Came to celebrate my friends Birthday and it did not disappoint. The singers are very talented and kept the crowd going all night. They get a lot of requests and try their hardest to get them sung. I thought they did a great job! All my requests were played and they even brought my Friend up to celebrate her Birthday. We had drinks only and it was a party of 7 and they accommodated us. Make reservations because Saturdays are busy. And it was a sold out night. We got on waitlist and sat down after an hour. So worth the wait. Service was top notch! And singers were amazing! If you like dueling pianos this is the place. All ages for adults! Will come again

Is there a cover charge during the week?

Its San Diego!!! Of course they do!

Is this a good place for dancing?

It is NOT a good place for dancing. Occasionally an intoxicated person will get up front and briefly make a fool of themself while entertaining the rest of those in attendance. Or it'll be someone's special occasion and they'll be put into a…

I want to reserve a table on a Friday or Saturday, but it says last seating is at 6:30. Is it going to be exciting at 6:30 or is that too early?

its definitely going to get more exciting as the night moves forward, however, I suggest getting there and getting settled for the evening at 6:30

If you have a reservation do you have to wait in line? What if you're waiting in line and miss your reservation time?

There is a different line for those that have reservations. As long as you arrive by the time you are told your party should be ok

What time does the live music on the weekends stop?

I'm sorry I'm not sure what time....we have left around 11-12 and it's still going.

Is this where navy personnel come to hang out?

The Shout! House is a popular venue for military personnel. We also offer discounted cover when you show your military ID on Thursday Nights.

Will you be open Saturday night January 1st?

Hi Leslie, no we will be closed for the January 1st date.

Is this place reservations only, or okay for walk-ins?

    You can walk in

Is the The Shout House an all-night affair? I want to bring a date, but also want to have a fancy dinner somewhere else.

You can leave anytime you want. They also serve great food and specialty drinks.

    Are they open for Thanksgiving?

    We are closed on Thanksgiving

What's the latest one can go on a Friday to not wait in a long line and/or get a table?

It all depends. Sometimes you can snag seating right away...other times you may have to wait in the bar area before seating becomes available.

This is a good spot for a Sunday Night outting?

Any night of the week is good here, including Sunday.

Is this place good during the week? It's parents night off and trying to have a good night

Weekdays are the same quality show as weekends but the players can connect with the audience more since it’s not as big of a crowd. They can also get to your request faster!

What time do people start lining up on weekends?

Typically around 5:30, 30 minutes before the doors open and 60 minutes before play starts. Warning: If you're planning on going on a Friday or Saturday reservations are STRONGLY recommended. Without them you are unlikely to get a seat at the bar…

Can the audience go up and sing with them?

You can, in limited circumstances. It's best to approach one of the musicians (the one on stage but not singing) and ask first. The larger the tip that goes with the request, along with any qualifications that would lead them to believe you…

Hi! No reservations tonight. Tomorrow is my bday and I remember how much I love Shout House!!! What do u recommend for us? I want a table as close to front as possible. #Help. Alexandra

The tables are all first come first serve so either you get there as early as possible or make your besties do it!

    Do they serve food?

Yes they serve food. It is a limited menu though. More like bar food snacks. I had the chicken wings which with the sugar coated flavoring is a little different. Not bad but a little different. The drinks were good and strong

Can we bring our fourteen year old son?

They check I.D. at the door so I assume it's 21 and over.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. A sponsor had rented out the whole place and all drinks were comped with food being passed around. We had cuban sandwiches and empanadas, which I think were all from the Havana restaurant upstairs. Food was great! Drinks were good, but the menu was so confusing to me. I didn't really like how they categorized them. Sometimes I feel like just being straightforward is better. Too cute with trying to do the prohibition/speakeasy menu. It did take a while to get drinks when it was packed. Understandable. But I had a few that were good, the boats and hoes, and keffir lime tequila drink were great. I would say that the bathroom had a bit of a stink to it...not sure what it was but smelled just like coming up from the pipes. May just be a basement issue. Overall, good experience. It didn't feel super special but just like any other speakeasy. I like False Idol better in terms of overall vibe.

The iconic geometric wood ceiling, dramatic chandelier, and moody lighting make the space feel effortlessly cool. The craft cocktail program is legendary, and the elevated gastropub menu is just as impressive, the grilled octopus was tender with a wonderful smoky char, the Jidori chicken was remarkably juicy with perfectly crispy skin, and the sea bass was delicate and flaky. Taking off one star because street parking along India Street can require quite a bit of circling during peak evening hours, and the dining room gets rather loud and dim once the crowd settles in. Still, an absolute San Diego staple and a top choice for a stylish date night, late-night craft drinks, or dinner with friends.

Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. We left unsatisfied and ended up getting in-n-out after.

Always a 5 Star experience when gathering for drinks here…read more Over the years, the names have changed for the provider of Polite Provision's delicious orderable food to go along with their polite provisions. Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

The atmosphere immediately reminded me of Berlin with its moody red room aesthetic and unique vibe. There's a DJ right when you walk in next to the bar, and as you make your way toward the back, you'll find additional seating. It's a fun, energetic space that's unlike many other spots in San Diego. However, my visit this past Friday was a completely different story. We had to wait outside for people to leave before we could get in, although thankfully that only took a few minutes. Once inside, it was packed shoulder to shoulder. There are only two bathroom stalls so it took about 20 minutes just to use the restroom. The biggest issue, though, was the temperature. It honestly felt like it was 100 degrees inside. It was unbearably hot, and after a while we had to leave because we were so uncomfortable. During a crowded San Diego summer night, having air conditioning or at least improved ventilation would make a huge difference. That said, I still recommend checking this place out. My advice is to visit on a weekday instead of a weekend, and avoid especially hot or overly crowded nights. When it's not packed, the atmosphere is unique, stylish, and definitely worth experiencing.
