After getting back from Oklahoma, where I was doing some work, I received a call for a private…read moreutility locate through my company, Marcor Utilities, LLC. The job was on the west side of Houston near Westheimer and Kirkwood. Since my kids had been with me after we had gone to watch a movie earlier that day, they came along for the locate. While driving, we noticed the grand opening signs for YoYo Adventureland. We decided to stop in, and I'm glad we did because it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable family experiences we've had in a long time. This isn't your typical arcade. They have a trampoline park, a huge variety of interactive arcade games, and prize machines that feature quality items instead of the usual inexpensive toys. Many of the games felt fresh and innovative, and several were unlike anything I've seen before in the U.S. Some of them reminded me of the unique arcades you see in Japan or South Korea. One thing that really stood out was how involved the owners were. They were walking around the entire facility, talking with guests, making sure everyone was having a great time, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was just as friendly and helpful. My kids absolutely loved the updated version of Dance Dance Revolution, and they also had an RC military tank battle game that was a lot of fun. Another favorite was a marble game where you strategically tilt the marbles to earn tickets or prizes. It was completely different from the traditional coin pusher games you usually find at places like Dave & Buster's or Main Event. We also took advantage of the photo booth, which was a great way to remember the day. We purchased the $100 VIP game card, and I highly recommend going that route instead of buying tokens. The game card gives you access to attractions and games where tokens can't be used, making it much more convenient. The prizes were another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual dollar store quality items, many of the toys were well made, durable, and even included build-it-yourself kits that families could enjoy together. By the time we left, my kids were already asking if they could have their birthday party there. That's probably the biggest compliment they could give. If you're looking for a fun family outing or even a unique date night, I highly recommend checking out YoYo Adventureland. It's a refreshing experience with friendly staff, great attractions, and an atmosphere that's genuinely enjoyable for both kids and adults. From what I was told, they've only been open for about a month, and if they continue providing this level of experience, I think they'll become one of Houston's top family entertainment destinations.

There's no admission for entry but I paid $30/$35 for a game card plus had to pay a small fee. Some of the games are Asian inspired but didnt really work. We had no idea how to play some of the games or the games ended rather abruptly so my kids were a bit annoyed. We decided to go upstairs for the claw machines where we had better luck. They won a few plushies and they were happy. Overall its a nice space we didn't really pay for play but we'll try it next time.

We spent 5 tokens on a shooting game and didn't get a single point. I decided to mention it to one of the employees so she went to test it out herself and sure enough the game was broken. She was kind enough to give me my tokens back but it was another disappointing game for my toddler.

There was significant miscommunication from the host prior to the event, and when we arrived we were unexpectedly told we needed to make changes. Our party was also moved from our original table to much smaller tables that did not provide enough space for our group. Throughout the event I had to repeatedly go back and forth with staff to clarify these issues, which made the experience frustrating and unenjoyable. They also attempted to charge us an additional $200 for a game that I was clearly told was included in the mixed birthday package -- something I confirmed with them at least three times prior to the event. In addition, the facility itself needs serious attention. It was not clean, masks were falling off the kids' faces, the venue appeared dirty, and the bathrooms were out of toilet paper. Overall, the space does not seem well maintained and requires much-needed upkeep. It felt like the venue was overbooked and unable to deliver on what was promised, with many inconsistencies throughout the event. Because of this experience, we will not be returning.

Over the years I got used to seeing familiar faces every week and would look forward to seeing them and skating with them but that all changed when they lowered the age. It went from being around grown adults and a adult vibe, to basically skating with a bunch of kids. Nothing weeds out grown adults more faster than lowering the age to 18 lol, so apparently plenty others feel this way. I guess that was the plan along, to change the vibe... Such a bummer
