I was desperate…read morefor help, new and naive to having independent insurance, and thought my insurance would cover most of the (as I now know) ridiculously overpriced sessions. I was charged out of pocket a "sliding scale" amount of $325 (which was still more than full price as far as any other therapist would go) promptly to my credit card after every single session, and at the same time they filed a claim with my insurance for the full price $500. This is double billing, which if not out right illegal is at best shady. When I called my insurance I was informed of not only this wrong doing, but that as standard practice, a provider, out of network or not, who files claims with an insurance is not supposed to charge anything to patient until it has been processed through insurance. Further more, I was informed per my insurance's regulation they are only allowed to charge me ~$60 a session since they filed claims and thus entered into a contract with my insurance. I have called them twice with a representative from my insurance to explain in no uncertain terms what the situation was and to give them a chance to refund me. This was met with polite stonewalling nonsense that "they were not obligated to my insurance's laws because they were out of network." When I emailed them with extensive proof of my insurance's legal policy for out-of-network providers that shows that they legally can only charge 15% more than my insurance's allowed amount, I have been met with crickets. Since they have refused to refund me, per the advice of multiple representatives, I have filed a fraud suit with my insurance. As for my experience with the actual people, I had an incredibly brief "intake interview" with the Dr. Zackson, who's primary mission seemed to be getting off the phone with me as soon as possible instead of listening to my symptoms, I was pushed to take a male therapist when I'd explicitly expressed I wanted a female one. Outside of this, all the employees I came into contact with were polite, helpful, and seemed compassionate. And though I did not want a male therapist, I found use and made progress in the therapy I received before stopping treatment. But I cannot excuse this blatant exploitation of the vulnerable and the incredible audacity to continue to spout nonsense and withhold my money (which I desperately need as a self-supporting college student) when they are being confronted with the obvious reality of their wrong doing from multiple authoritative sources. Absolutely insidious behavior for a practice that claims to be about helping people.

She spends an hour of one to one treatment using manual therapy specifically the John F Barnes Myofascial Release method. I have chronic back issues secondary to degenerative disc disease for over 8 years and has subsided significantly with her care. Since she started seeing me I have been exercising, walking and even going to Zumba. I have not been taking any meds or injections which doctors have advised me before. I have stopped going to a chiropractor or traditional PT (TENS, laser, hot packs, US, exercises, stretches) as the relief they provide are temporary and do not last. She also addressed my frozen shoulder that completely resolved within 2 months (orthopedic doctor wanted to do steroid injection but I respectfully declined). I had a flare up last Friday as I have not seen her for over 3 months (big mistake), and it was pretty bad (could not move, intense pain, spasms in the whole lumbar area and pain shooting down my leg), felt so down and disabled. Called Maria on Saturday and she accommodated me knowing my history. Saw her for 4 treatments and feel like a new person already( today is Wednesday by the way). Dr. Clain did extensive surgey on my foot, replacing a tendon, pinning a hammertoe, repairing a bunion, and correcting my alignment. Five months after surgery I spent a week hiking in the Adirondacks, including completing a 7 mile hike with 2100 feet of ascent. I continue to improve every day and am thrilled to have my active life back! The surgical experience was great, including their excellent pain management plan which kept me very comfortable without the use of narcotics. Dr. Clain could be a plastic surgeon. As extensive as my surgery was, my scarring is minimal and very well hidden. The practice is very well run. I have always been seen quickly and the appointments are always very efficient. I highly recommend this practice and especially recommend Dr. Clain!

It is a business and essentially they have copied the model of AA and Alanon which are free and monetized them to the tune of $3,000 a month for a recovery "coach" (not a counselor) and group meetings. Save yourself some money and go to AA and Alanon. This place is a scam and unprofessional.
