I am writing a followup review based on my first review dated 11/26/2023 about the customer service I received from one of Laurel's staff members. Laurel reached out to me on 12/14 to apologize for the way my inquiry was handled and shared with me that she routinely checks how her staff are handling potential clients. She spent time on the phone with me, sharing the steps she is taking to consistently train her staff in providing better customer service, as well as how the technical chat system handling customers who reach out on the their website. I received a private message from Laurel stating she only markets to people who are on the Do Not Call List. I have been on this list since 2003 and continue to receive unwanted marketing about a house that is not for sale. My personal experience with Laurel is not positive. read more

I'm not sure who's writing the positive reviews but its not our family. Our experience with Laurel was so very fast and costly. She says all the right things, makes you feel like she's looking out for your best interest, and she's giving you such a great price for your property. Within days you are signing papers and any questions you have are never really answered truthfully. She moves fast fast fast before you can find out any answers to your questions. Then when everything is done you find out that you are now going to have to pay over half of your "profit" in taxes! She really knows how to smooth talk the elderly. and we fell for it. If only one person can learn from our family's mistake it was worth having to think about this again. We want everyone to know that no matter if your house is falling down around you, you owe back taxes, or however terrible your situation is there are SO many investment groups, cash for houses, and real estate agencies that will buy your home. Just know that being a property owner in california gives you the advantage. Find a company that will be honest and let you get the answers to your questions no matter how long it takes. So I got a response from Laurel on Facebook. She also pasted the EXACT same thing on my husbands review. My response to her: Hi Laurel, First, this is the first time you have had any involvement in the purchase of our family home as far as our knowledge is concerned. I only found out that the two businesses were connected (FastFairCashOfferSacramento and your business) after the escrow officer made a comment about how they have worked with you. We also noticed title was set to be assigned to Alcala Properties.... So now we are dealing with THREE DIFFERENT COMPANIES????? When you insinuate that there are a lot of people to deal with on our end, ditto dear Laurel. And, I asked all of your entities involved to talk to just me, as I was communicating on behalf of our family. Not my fault if people on your end chose to ignore our request. Then I did some digging to find out that Christena worked for you and put two and two together as far as your business goes. Nowhere on any paperwork, etc, did it show Laurel Buys Houses, except in the rescinded contract. Red flag #1. Second, what you've stated is simply untrue. We were manipulated, taken advantage of, and thrown away. When we met Christena at our home, she mentioned that there "might" be a need for investor money. We were not told that the sale of the home depended on an investor directly. Very misleading. When reviewing the contract, I was constantly distracted, being talked to while trying to read it, and afterwards felt very rushed. Third - Title Insurance was NEVER discussed. All we were told was that we needed to make sure there weren't any liens on the property, and the title had no issues. NEVER that we had to pay title insurance. When your website, http://fastfaircashoffersacramento.com/, says "You'll pay NO fees and NO commissions when we buy your house. We pay ALL closing costs associated with the transaction.", then that is what is expected. There is no mention of title fees or investors on that website. I have every section screen captured that clearly shows this. Fourth - we had been under contract with you for a full month - and only the day AFTER we signed escrow paperwork, we were told that your investor 'backed out'. I received a call from Christena on Thursday the 22nd, saying that you all were having difficulties finding property insurance, and that because of the fire line in our area, it might not even be possible to sell the house, and that Christy, our account manager, was going to call her dad to see if he could help and that closing might be delayed. That put us in a panic, and I immediately started calling around for insurance quotes and spoke to two individuals at Farmers. I easily got a quote, and contacted Christy on the phone. She then told me that getting insurance WASN'T the issue, it's that it was really expensive. Per her request, I emailed both her and Christena the quote from Farmers showing that it really wasn't more than what we currently pay. And it covered non-occupied, construction for 6 months. After that, I reached out via text, email, and phone asking if there was an update because they were "working things out on their end". No mention of investor issues. We proceeded to go to to Escrow to sign paperwork, where we learned of the Title Insurance fees (and, after reviewing the contract again, saw that we were responsible for paying that expense, even though conversation as stated above in the THIRD topic about title insurance was never mentioned). Being that we were already completely frustrated, we decided to take responsibility for the fees and signed escrow paperwork. The next day, which was Saturday the 24th, Christena called me and left a voicemail. I promptly called her back, and she advised that the Investor backed out. I asked if negotiation was possible, and she said no. She said we could either 1. Cancel the deal, or 2. Show the house to an investor the following Monday, but that we couldn't close until April 15th. Keep in mind, this is THREE DAYS BEFORE CLOSING DATE. This was the FIRST mention that closing was dependant on an investor. Not very transparent at all. I asked Christy if we could have an amended contract that gave us the right to cancel IF we decided to allow someone to view our house, and she said yes, that she would get the contract to me that day (Saturday). Later on in the day, I had not seen anything and asked for an update. No response. Then later that day, my family decided enough was enough. I asked to exercise the right to cancel per our phone conversation, and also sent an email Sat, Mar 24, 2018 at 6:54 PM. No response. I followed up with Christena via text the next day, asking if she got my email and voicemail. Only then did I get a reply.. I was told I would have the cancellation that day (Sunday). It came many hours later, and we gratefully signed it to rid ourselves of this horrible arrangement. There's more, but Yelp limits the amount of characters I can post. read more

Laurel is the real deal. She is a straight shooter with no surprises. She will come out to your house and make an offer on the spot. The offer never changed from the time she made it to the time escrow closed and the title changed. I did my research before choosing Laurel as my first choice. Other companies have bad reviews where they make an offer and keep finding reasons to lower the offer, or other companies that want to lock you into a contract. My dad had to move to a living assisted facility and my sister, my wife and I did not want to spend time in getting the house prepared for a sale and everything else that goes into selling a house through a realtor. We moved out of the house, only items we wanted and Laurel took care of everything else that was left. We came to a purchase number what we felt was fair to Laurel as well as for my father, and another number which would be the lowest and cause us to look at the next company on our list after Laurel. We were all very pleased that Laurel actually hit the very same number we felt was a fair price to both sides. Besides being a straight shooter with no surprises, Laurel is very fair.
