Overall rating: 100/10 You are likely here after making a choice to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility (REI). Finding out information about a provider and their team in any care and finding YOUR match is important for making it a worthwhile experience even when the condition/illness/etc sucks/annoying/sad (insert other emotions/feelings here). And it may be a longer journey than planned. I commend you for doing your due diligence. I hope your journey is a smooth one, a short one, and one where you achieve your goals If you are anything like me, I care about the person and their team (providers, nurses, sonographers, phlebotomists, front desk, other staff) on the other side. I want to know what motivates them/their "why". With that said. It was pure luck that within a week of just googling REI's, we found KB. As a bonus, since KB exists in almost every state, you can probably do a little traveling and have your care anywhere :) Lucky a second time, Dr. Sundheimer was my assigned REI. FYI - at KB, you may get to see other providers at different points, I saw all 6 (other providers: Dr. Brower, Dr. Bendikson, Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Mehr, Dr. Kathiresan). I think there's been some provider changes, but you'll see online, they are spreading awareness on social media and free webinars and really sees us as people who are asking for help. Dr. S is well accomplished, well versed in this world. Doctors in a specialty , 10+ years of school. I have tried delving into all the information, but even in 1.5 years, I am still learning about new procedures/data, etc. (mainly ideas from the support group - which you should really attend!). She can provide you with the pros/cons on evidence-based literature and experience along with experience of her colleagues/other providers. For me, Dr. S listened, gave her recommendations and ultimately, let me choose my path. I went through a lot of rounds, and each time, Dr. S really looks into it and changes the protocol (discussed first, you have to make decisions on how comfortable you feel with the information you're given/looked into, and how it'll affect you financially/physically/mentally). Dr. S will not force anything on you and obviously the whole KB process is not a "cookie cutter" scenario at all! If this approach is overwhelming for you, that's ok, just let her know how you would like to receive information and how decisions are made (you or her). She will let you know if she advises against anything that is not evidently beneficial. Over time, all that can also change and you may want to delve deeper into these topics because you are literally more knowledgeable than you were yesterday. All that to say, Dr. Sundheimer has wonderful bedside manners and however the conversation goes, you can tell she cares about you. Dr. S has many great qualities as a provider, that I wish I could just receive all my care from her and this team. I'll give a shoutout to some amazing people who made me feel safe when procedures etc are scary: Aphril (NP), Joanna (phlebotomist), Kiana (sonographer), Emily (sonographer), Emilia (NP), Isabel (front desk). This is just a small set that I see the most, the entire Socal region (Santa Monica, former Century City) places are all great. KB is just this chic, homey, non-sterile feel for care). For the partners, their specimen room, is not just a bathroom, it's an inviting cozy room apparently :) If you were looking for negatives: I had to drive about 2 hours to do procedures/egg retrievals/frozen embryo transfers (FET). I was late once. Although, I thought it was cool, Newport was originally run on a big bus/RV ... I don't have much else (or my mind repressed it). Everyone's likes and dislikes are different. The problem has been mainly solved, when Newport opened their full building, so will San Diego apparently. Also, you may hear about KB billing, which fortunately, is well-run in Socal KB. Overall, if you like to have people greet you and just be happy to see you and your presence, KB Socal has been that place for me. I usually have conversations with everyone I meet even with healthcare because if I'm going to see them more than anyone (lol), I like to have something to look forward to, our life check-ins. I've been going to Kindbody since November 2024 after being diagnosed with tubal infertility. My only option to conceive a child of my own was through IVF. The quality of care we got while at this clinic was phenomenal and the entire team ends up feeling like your family. I wanted to share my experience with Dr. Lauren. I was planning to start my IVF journey and had already completed all my tests. But right before starting, my pregnancy test came back positive naturally! Dr. Lauren was so kind and supportive throughout the process. She followed up with me closely, ordered multiple HCG blood tests, and did ultrasounds to monitor everything. Around week 5, I experienced some bleeding, which was really scary. I cannot say enough positive comments about Dr. Sundheimer and Kindbody Newport Beach. I was at a different clinic where I had my daughter back in 2022. I started my sibling journey and had 2 failures with that same clinic. I was interested in speaking with Dr. Sundheimer. to see if I should possibly switch clinics. From my initial consultation, I knew I was in good hands and decided to transfer my care to Kindbody. Their team was so helpful in everything from the financials to helping set up my embryo transport from my old clinic to my new clinic. Since I had 2 transfer failures, I wanted to do more testing. Dr. S. really listened to my concerns and did all of the testing I wanted to do. In the end, nothing was found to be wrong, but it gave me peace of mind. We went forward with my transfer of my last embryo and fortunately it stuck! I had a bleeding scare at 6 weeks and she immediately had me come in for an ultrasound and reassured me the heartbeat was still there and all was okay. We had been struggling with fertility and came to Kindbody. Dr. Sundheimer and her team were kind, smart, and patient and answered all of our questions. We did some testing, which all came back normal, so they recommended a Saline Bubble Study to see if there was anything structurally that might be impeding fertility. I had a deeply frustrating and disheartening experience at this clinic during my egg freezing process. From the beginning, the doctor was only present during the initial consultation, after that, I never saw or heard from her again. Any time I had a question, I was passed off to a different nurse, and no one ever seemed to know my case or what stage I was in. I kept hearing, "We'll ask the doctor and get back to you". Communication was chaotic, unorganized, and careless. The clinic only performs egg retrievals two days per month, and it was obvious they were pushing everyone into those days, regardless of whether your body was actually ready. This felt completely profit-driven. Real patient care shouldn't be about squeezing people into someone else's calendar, especially not with something as sensitive as fertility. And then came the worst part: during my retrieval, I had 24 follicles, yet only 4 eggs were frozen, Every fertility expert I spoke to afterward, without exception, said this was a major error on the clinic's part. Whether it was poor timing, failed stimulation protocol, or just negligence, the outcome was devastating and could have been avoided. A week after the retrieval, they scheduled a follow-up, and yet again, Dr. Lauren didn't have time, rescheduled again. I was only given 15 minutes, she asked generic checklist-style questions and repeated "drink more water and electrolytes" like it was a cure-all. There was no accountability, no plan, no explanation. Dr. Lauren completely disappeared after the first visit, good luck trying to get a real answer from her after that. To make matters worse, Kindbody charged me $7,000 for medications, even though I didn't get them from the clinic but from my insurance and pharmacy. I'm still in shock about that, and I will be filing a formal complaint. We paid nearly $14,000 for a cycle filled with mismanagement, lack of care, and zero transparency. I chose this clinic because of the glowing reviews online, but now I seriously doubt their authenticity. My experience was a complete disaster and emotionally traumatic. If you're looking for supportive, responsible, and competent care, this is not the place. Once they take your money, the doctor disappears, the communication breaks down, and you're left feeling confused, unsupported, and in my case, absolutely heartbroken. Please think twice before trusting them with such an important part of your life. read more

I have only praise for Dr. Sundheimer. This is going to be a detailed review since I believe anyone interested should know. I was a patient of a different fertility doctor from a different clinic in the same area who was highly recommended prior to me seeing Dr. Sundheimer and the difference was night and day. The other doctor probably has the best lab in the area, but their personalities were so different. This other doctor rarely showed up for appointments, was inconsiderate (e.g. leaving the door open when you are still on the bed with your feet ip while half undressed), had a weird sense of humor, and was overall insensitive with no follow up after a very painful incident. Dr. Sundheimer, on the other hand, was present at every single appointment since our first consult. She never rushed. She patiently listened. She never made me feel guilty. She showed empathy. Her bedside manner was everything I was looking for especially in a sensitive matter like fertility. I was torn about moving to a new Doctor especially since the other Doctor's lab was so good, and hesitated having to repeat my entire history with a new Doctor. At the time, Dr. Sundheimer had few reviews, but I liked whatever I had read and based on my research about labs, her lab (at the time of writing this review, Newport Fertility Center where Dr. Sundheimer works used their in house CCRM lab) was also top notch. So, it felt like a reasonable decision, and now looking back, changing doctors was one of the best decisions I made in my lifetime so far. I do want to take a moment to discuss the lab as well as this is an important consideration. I'd suggest everyone interested in assisted reproductive treatment (ART), which includes IVF, and unsure about how to select their clinic, to look up the success rates for the clinic on the CDC website. The CDC publishes the ART success rates annually for every clinic. Dr. Sundheimer's clinic, Newport Fertility Center, had some of the best rates for older patients and this was important to me. I'm an older patient at (38-40 years) and the results from our treatment were very favorable despite my age, and I 100% attribute that to the doctor and the lab (and not to any diet or other ritual I followed because I did not). I am currently pregnant on my first attempt at her clinic with Dr. Sundheimer's help. I have friends going through fertility treatments in the same age group across the US and their experiences with their fertility doctors have been very similar to mine with my first doctor, along with additional challenges of long, unclear timelines and poor communication. I experienced none of this with Dr. Sundheimer or her wonderful team. Everyone at the Newport Fertlity Center was friendly, patient and communicated with us extremely well with no balls dropped. I hear Dr. Sundheimer is moving to a new clinic. I do not know where she is going so I cannot rate her new clinic, but I can certainly rate her as a Doctor, and you are in excellent hands with her. Dr Sundheimer helped me stay proactive in my fertility journey. I went to Dr Sundheimer looking for guidance on how to prepare myself for a successful pregnancy instead of passively waiting to try up to 12 months. Dr. Sundheimer recommended the Saline Bubble Test and found in the process that I have polyp(s) in my uterus. She explained that while this usually doesn't pose any health risks, polyps can decrease success by up to 50%. Within the next 2 months, her team scheduled me for the hysteroscopy procedure and removed the polyps. The procedure went very well and Dr Sundheimer adequately prepared me for exactly what to expect. I was able to get an initial pregnancy test result immediately in the first month of trying after this procedure. Throughout the process, Dr S. was extremely patient, providing key and comforting information for someone who's going into this process with very little medical knowledge in this area. read more

Dr. Sundheimer is truly great at what she does - she was on top of things from the time of our consult. She always answered all of my questions thoroughly and was patient until I was ready to begin the process of egg freezing to extend my fertility. She took steps to increase my success from the get go and when I appeared to be at risk of OHSS she took the necessary precautions to reduce that risk and I recovered quickly. There are not enough good things for me to say about Dr. Sundheimer and her team. Every interaction was kind, empathetic and incredibly efficient. Dr. Sundheimer was honest while also being really encouraging. I was very comfortable and confident while in their care. Fertility issues are not discussed enough in our culture and can lead to understandable feelings of isolation; working with Dr. Sundheimer and her team was a genuinely collaborative effort.
