I had a good experience here for the most part! I went twice during my trip. I enjoyed the gluten…read morefree toast and bagels and got an egg and cheese one day, and a scallion cream cheese and cucumber the next. The coffee is also delicious and didn't even need a flavor added. The man taking our orders the first day was also incredibly kind and you could tell he just enjoyed his job, or at least was happy to be there. There's also a mini shop here basically. There's fresh bread and prepackaged meals here like Shepards pie and fruits and veggies. There also was plenty of cute merch and I left with two designs. Two things that I didn't like. Ordering was a bit chaotic. There are labeled areas that show where to order what, but if it's your first time in it can feel overwhelming and you might be wandering a bit figuring it out. I wish it could all be ordered at one spot, not like it's a food hall. I understand that this probably does work the best for them though and is most likely pretty easy for ordering if you're a local. Lastly, I had an issue with a woman working the second day. They have a big menu and I was looking at it above her head while ordering. She was fine while I was talking, but stopped me when I went to walk away. She said "You know, you really need to face people while you're talking to them." What! So awkward and weird. That's the main reason I took one star off because it caused me not to go back again. Very rude and felt like a mini lecture for no reason.

I also got a cold brew. This was such a great place to stop in for some breakfast. High recommend. Oh and I'd recommend the cheesecake brownie.

It's probably good I don't live near here, because it would be terrible for my waistline. But after…read moretrying this bakery on the penultimate day of a vacation, we had to come back to stock up on our final day. We collectively tried the olive ciabatta, three kinds of croissants, a flatbread, an epi bread, and maybe a couple of other things I am forgetting. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. I love the vibe of the place, I love the logo they stamp on their bags, I love that they threw in an extra pastry because we bought so much on that last day, and I love the location just across from the river. (First-time visitors should note that you enter the bakery from the back of the building that faces Water St.) Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from my partner's 14-year-old son, who gave the almond croissant a 10/10. When I asked him to rate the almond croissant that he loves from a bakery local to us, he gave it an 8.5/10. Follow-up questioning revealed that the chocolate croissants from the two bakeries merited a 9.5 and 8, respectively. Oh, and if you call earlier in the day they will hold things for you if you won't be able to make it in until later in the day.

Hidden gem!…read more Delicious pastries! Super friendly and nice owner! Inside smells amazing! We tried the chocolate croissant and the Bostock (brioche w almond topping and strawberries). Both were great and would happily eat either again! The chooclate croissant had a soft chocolate filling as opposed to a harder chocolate. I liked the bostock better but both were yummy. A small hole in the wall by a river. We ate our pastries on a swing across the river. Everyone in the area is super friendly. Good vibes and good pastries.

The cafe has…read moreplenty of parking outside & seating inside, though I've always opted to grab my hand pies to go. They have sweet and savory hand pie options, as well as cookies. There's also a variety of espresso drinks, teas, iced drinks, and other specials readily available. My personal favorite hand pie is the oaxaca cheese + mushroom hand pie that they serve with a green salsa... DELICIOUS. (Though I'm also a sucker for the potato and cheddar hand pies. Classic.) I always love trying any of their more unique flavors though. Service is prompt and courteous, and the space itself is comfortable and clean. Always appreciate the availability of wifi as well for when I prefer to sit at a table and visit with friends or work on my laptop for a bit. My only comment is that $6+ may be a bit high for the cost of a hand pie (I think most are $6.25 or more), but I'm not knocking off any stars for the price because in this economic environment we're in? Everything is just more expensive anyway.

The cherry hand pie is exactly what you want a cherry pie to be full of cherry and none of that sweet goop. We stopped and got 2 cherry and 2 blueberry to take with us as we headed out. They also make a decent cup of coffee. I did have a salad that they sold from another local shop and it was also really good. The staff was also super friendly and answered all our questions. You can tell this is a place the locals go all the time.
