Great simple spot with deli sandwiches, baked goods, and great wine. There are two buildings, one with food and the second being the wine tasting. The staff were all kind and very helpful. We went on a Wednesday, and there were a few stragglers but it was a small wait for food (totally worth it) and quick pours (I'm not complaining about that). It's only 13 minutes north from Watkins Glen, which made the drive back towards the gorge much more enjoyable. We started our wine tasting at Tabora. Customizable tasting flight with a friendly staff. We originally did not have this on our list of places to go for tastings but stopped by because of their gluten free food options for a member of our party. The quiches were amazing particularly their cheddar and mixed vegetable one. There is an adorable store inside with many baked goods and plenty of meal options. A very cute place near Seneca lake. While it does not have a lake view, its close enough to the main road. They are one of the few wineries that also serve food, so its a great place to grab lunch. The sandwiches we got were amazing (the Brooklyn and the Cuban). I would give the deli and bakery a 5/5. The attached winery was okay. They only do tastings at the bar, not at the table (at least when we were there). It was pretty empty. read more

We visit our Bonskeid House on Seneca Lake 2-3 times a year and ALWAYS have to stop and buy yummies and wine at Tabora!! They just have amazing takeout or pick nic table foods, and drinks. Our next winery stop was Tabora, nestled along Seneca Lake. We were fortunate to have Keith as our server, and he may have been one of the most remarkable people I've met in quite some time. His deep knowledge and passion shone through as he shared the rich history of the winery. The owners originally purchased land in Bucks County for farming but later moved to the Finger Lakes region, where they expanded into winemaking, a bakery, and a deli--a true craft-driven endeavor. Tabora was offering a special deal: buy one tasting flight, get the second free. Normally, I gravitate toward the drier the better, but the Winemaker's Jam caught my eye. My flight included: 1. 2021 Pinot Noir 2. 2021 Cabernet Franc 3. N.V. Heritage Noir 4. 2021 Maréchal Foch I started with the Pinot Noir, a light-bodied wine with aromas of cherry blossoms, strawberries, and dried fruit--absolutely sensational. Keith explained that all of Tabora's wines age in used French oak barrels but never for more than 18 months. Instead of prolonged oak aging, they transition the wine to stainless steel, preserving freshness while imparting just a touch of oak influence. Next up was the Cabernet Franc, which had soft tannins, a light body, and notes of raspberry and green bell pepper, with a slight oak finish--and wow, it was good. Then came my hands-down favorite: the Heritage Noir, a blend of different wines that was dry yet bursting with layered fruit flavors. It was truly an incredible experience on the palate. Finally, I sampled the Maréchal Foch, a sensational, jammy wine with hints of blackberry and pomegranate and a beautifully smooth finish. But Keith wasn't done yet--he had me try a few more, including an unoaked Cabernet Franc, which became another favorite. Aged 100% in stainless steel, it was bright with red fruit, hints of cherry, vanilla, and a touch of chocolate on the finish. Beyond the wines, Keith himself was a standout. As we sipped, he shared his life journey--from New York to Hawaii, a path shaped by his mother and sister. This is not only a winery with a tasting room but there is a retail store that sells the most delicious sweets and savory dishes. Every time we visit we have to buy some sweets like carrot cake muffins, different small pastries and always purchase a full quiche for future breakfasts. They use fresh ingredients and you will not be disappointed with your purchase. The staff is very helpful and give directions on reheating your purchases is necessary. Was out for a ride on a beautiful day and this place was suggested to us for lunch. The outside is impressive but the inside is so cute! You go up to the counter and order your food. They have a great assortment of items to choose from. I tried several things: Mac and cheese, tortellini salad and Italian wedding soup. All were delicious but I liked the soup the best!!! I'm Italian and it was like my grandmother's soup. I didn't finish my food because I had to try a desert and coffee. So many choices for desert but I picked the mini pecan pie. The Dijon mustard in the sandwich paired so perfectly with the meat and vegetables while the creamy tomato soup was perfectly creamy, and oily without being over the top or greasy. Fantastic service from our tasting room attendant! He was knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about wine, and helped us carry our wine to our outside seating. We chose a spot nestled in a garden with a few picnic tables, where we had both sandwiches and flights with our dog. Dogs are allowed outside, but not inside the buildings, but they have many outdoor seating options. We ordered sandwiches at the deli, tasty paninis, and each tried a flight and another glass of wine. The flight is served with a glass too not pictured. The organization and design of this place is amazing. Deli is on par to the best if not better but the wines while pretty decent need to be better. The farm and tasting room are designed to resemble Spanish cointryside houses, which on a sunny day is absolutely amazing. Such a cute little market and winery/tasting room! A group of girlfriends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon to do lunch and wine tasting, and it was a blast. The market had delicious made-to-order sandwiches from the deli (we loved The Soprano and The Brooklyn!) and an incredible assortment of baked goods and sweets - I'm talking cookies, banana bread, zucchini loaves, pecan pie, fudge, bread, cakes you name it. I wanted to buy everything in that store to take home! If you do end up eating lunch on the property, there are tables both in front of the main entrance, as well as in the back patio. As for the tasting room, the staff were super friendly and accommodating when I asked to push back our reservation by 15 minutes so we could enjoy our lunch a bit longer. I enjoyed a tasting of their red wines and it was fun to go through, even though I generally prefer more full-bodied reds that aren't found in the Finger Lakes region. A sign informed us that on Saturdays there are no substitutions on sandwiches. While ordering we were informed that there would be a 30 min wait. We killed time by splitting a wine tasting ($10). Mixed review - we started with a tasting. I had the #2 tasting - my boyfriend had 3 or 4 - his had the Dechaunac- I liked his tasting better than mine. Their wines are aged in steel and that's the tasting note I got. What really bothered me was Jean who served the wine. Her discussion of other wineries and badmouthing them. She may or may not have been right, but it came off as tacky. She doesn't like Lakewood tasting experience and the cheese at Magnus hides the terrible wine. I wanted a different experience that focused on where I was - the history, their process, etc. I got more from their website. The shop is lovely - we didn't eat there but bought some treats for home that we loved. The shop has a nice variety and was bigger than I thought it would be. read more

What a great place to eat! The sandwi hes were outstanding and the covered patio with heaters was perfect for a rainy cold day. We were dry and warm! 1 thing i'd add for the staff, please highlight on your boards that you have gluten free bread available!
