Noisy with all the big rigs on the highway. Some are realllly loud some not. It was very clean and well kept though pretty sparse. Not exciting. No store or pool. The little creek is not much and I wouldn't go in it. Not a destination but if you're one of those with a toy hauler for biking if that's why you're here, or just need a place to sleep, It's fine. For the price, it's good. Mary's up the road is about $35 more a night and the KOA is also close. It's a mile walk from Lava to KOA. So you really need to drive if you're going to the mineral pools if you stay here. read more

Passing through heading to Idaho and picked this campground based on good reviews. Easy to access with a lot of open spaces. The grounds keepers were really friendly and helpful!. The bathroom and showers were really nice and clean! It has a small creek/river that runs along side the camp towards the road. I wish we would have been able to enjoy the river but didn't want the road noise. That would be my only complaint was the road noise. But I would deff stay here again! If you have kids they have a nice playground and if you are traveling in your car they have cute retro campers for one or two people. I would recommend #28 or #27 back in's for enjoyment. The big trees shield the road noise and you can hear the river. read more

This place is easily one of the best campgrounds in Lava. We went on a last minute trip to Grand Teton National Park over the Labor Day weekend and needed a place to stay Friday night. Their website let us check availability and book online. A few minutes after booking, we had our confirmation along with instructions on how to get to our spot. Best of all, we didn't have to check in with anyone on arrival. The price was insanely low ($20), lower than anywhere else we've camped at in Lava. The bathrooms were very clean. We will definitely be back here in the future. read more

The owners have spent a lot of time and money maintaining, and fixing up some small trailers. The place is very nice. They have a small playground and a great view. This is not my ideal place. I prefer being out away from people. The stalls are right next to each other. This is very typical for camp site around Lava. We had the best stall for our weekend. 11 is away from all the other campers. The walk from this camp ground to the city is not a quick one. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We had problems finding the place, because google told us we had arrived about 1 mile from the turn off. We used apple maps, and it got us there. The owners actually walked us through turn by turn on the phone when we called them. I can not give 5 stars cause this is not my style of camping, and the road is so close making it a little noisy. read more

We pulled in with 3 kids who'd been squabbling in the car to find our glamping tent. When we tried to get in we discovered a broken zipper that no amount of muscle power was going to force open. I called the # and had the owners there within minutes to fix our problem. Meanwhile, the kids had gone down to the awesome retro playground to run off their energy. It took the owners a few different trips to get supplies to fix the tent. After an hour of their hard work, we had a functional door and some free firewood for our troubles! The bed and cots are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and well lit, and the electric plugin to charge devices was a nice touch. The highway and trains are noisy at night, but once we fell asleep we slept well. We enjoyed our fire pit on the second night after an 8 hour day at the swimming pool. Be aware for those traveling with toddlers, glamping site #1 has some big drop offs, but the view from the hill made up for the risk. All in all a great place to stay with attentive owners. We stayed here for one night and were pleased with the campground's proximity to downtown Lava Hot Springs. Everything was EXTREMELY clean. The only reason I'm taking off one star is because our campsite (E) was very dusty unlike the other campsites which had plenty of grass. It would also be really great to have hooks added in the shower rooms! Overall, it was a great stay. read more

This is a really nice campground. Looks fairly new. They have 30/50 amp service with water. However they do not have sewer here. We have stayed here a few times now and will surely be back. The owners are awesome and the staff working there are super friendly. The trees are a bit small yet but when they get bigger there will be plenty of shade. Even if you don't have an RV they have tent sites and even restored like tear drop style trailers you can stay in. They do have bathrooms around the campground as well.Can go wrong here. read more

We only spent one night but found our retro trailer named Dottie very comfortable and clean. A great way to camp out without dragging all your gear with you. This place is super rad! My boyfriend and I were on a road trip and decided to check out the hot springs. We were in a camper van but decided to try out a night in one of the retro campers on site due to the low price (they have discounts on Mondays). The decor was so cute even down to the out houses. The camper was so clean and the interior new. The bed was SO comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

My fiancé and I are on our road trip and found this place on Google. Spoke with the owner and she was super sweet. We stopped by to check it out and absolutely fell in love with the location. We stayed and camp site J. We were joking about living here full time because it was so beautiful. The "outhouses" were very nice, they even had, electricity, outlets and a mirror. Also they had some great showers and larger restrooms at the center of the campground. Very family friendly place with volleyball, canoe, cornhole, play ground etc. this is definitely on our list to stop again. You can also stay in these adorable little campers that are permanently parked in some spaces instead of a hotel if you don't have a trailer or camping gear yourself. It has the the cutest and most spacious patios and common areas and is surrounded by super beautiful hills a creek and just over all an amazing environment, can't stress how pretty the view of the stars night are.The people who run it are the kindest and most accommodating ever. This is a great site to camp for RVs (with Water and Power hookups), Tents, and those that just need a bed for the night (in one of their Retro Remodeled Trailers). They have a big park areas with Volley Ball, Swings, Tether Ball, and Merry Go Round (spinning thing). The Camp host (Annie) is extremely nice!! It is a short Mile drive to the Lava Hot Springs Pools. There is also a beautiful hike you can take into town that is about a mile.We loved staying here. read more

I have stayed here a few times. As a single mom on fixed budget I have not been able to head up to Lava often due to cost in lodging. I like to get away alone in better weather seasons and do not always feel comfortable staying alone in state/federal campgrounds which are the cheapest option. I was so happy to find this place! Affordable! Safe! Roof over my head and a locked door still being able to enjoy a camp fire and get the outdoor feeling! Wonderful! Super clean! And! The cleanest! I mean THE CLEANEST portapotty one will ever see! It is cleaner than some of the private bathrooms in hotels/public facilities that I have used in Lava! And no smell! Do not know how she does that but loving it! There is no showers but who cares! It is Lava people! Rivers, hot springs, pool, et cetera! No shortage of places to spruce up and get refreshed. They have indicated they eventually will add showers but you know what? Putting those in will likely raise the price of an overnight stay and might cause some to not be able to afford as much. It is my opinion, and that of others who have stayed here, showers are not really needed as a necessity to stay. In fact, I would rather not have showers if it means price going up. But! Progress happens...I just hope as they make improvements the price does not rise to much. I just found out about this place last season but I will go to no other when going to Lava. Only thing is! As time goes by they will become more and more popular and they will fill up quick each season. Good for them! I would give anything to have the lifestyle this family has created! Taking great care of guests, property, managing their little resort! Note to owners! I have extensive management experience in lodging and would jump at the chance to oversee the place if you should ever need to go away or want a brake! Seriously! Once you find this gem book early! Oh, little trailers are cool but in case they are booked up you cannot beat the campground! Coolest layout ever! Nooks, crannies, unique tent spots under older mangled trees as if the branches are reaching out to invite! Cannot say enough positive about this place. We absolutley LOVED this campground!!! We were happy to not have a big river right by our campsite like most other campgrounds at Lava. Did not have to worry about our little kids getting near it the entire time. The river was still close enough we could walk to it to fish or tube down it and the little main street is literally a 2 minute drive. The campground is like out of a pinterest post, decorated so cute with vintage trailers for rent (at super reasonable prices) and the most adorable outhouses that actually smell good?!. There are the cutest real flower planters at each table at every campsite to beautify the place. The host, Annie was so friendly and her boys are super helpful and accommodating. So clean and cute!! Will definitely be going back! Our only complaint was we were a large group of campers and the fire pits are super small for a big group to all sit around. read more

This review is based on a tent campers point of view. There is absolutely no shade in any of the sites, tent or RV. So if you think you'll be spending any time at your site after 10 am, you won't. It's too hot. I could see by the website map that it was very close to the highway. I've camped by roads before. The scenario here is that this campground is in a little valley below the highway making for the most awesome acoustic reverberations of every big rig and train that rattles by all night long. And I do mean all night. There must have been a train every hour or so but the big rigs, I would have bet money that a helicopter was flying over our tent, the rattling was so loud. The sites are extremely close together with no privacy due to the no trees. It calls for quiet hours after 10 pm but there were other guests walking by our tent at 1 am, talking and swinging their flashlights. I mean there were no campers on either side of us, why would anyone think it courteous to walk 2 feet from our tent? Also, don't expect to cook over the fire pit for your meals. There is no grate. We left after the second night to a campground more suitable for those of us who like to tent camp. if your idea of tent camping is to merely sleep in a tent and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in town, then this could be the place for you but not for any serious tent campers. read more

My family and I pulled in after being on the road for 10 days... the campgrounds are so cute, there are personal touches everywhere. The restroom is so cute, and CLEAN! We were scheduled to stay for 3 nights, but really needed to get home earlier, she refunded the money right away, and her family came by several times to check in with us. Very friendly and kid fun! The noise from the trucks was a bit loud, earplugs are advised if you are a light sleeper. read more
