I am totally new to this level of 'holistic self care'. I have no other past experiences to gage this off of, but I the service at Lavage is so wonderful that I have zero interest in going anywhere else. If you're new (like I was) and nervous and wanting more info than the websites seem to give -give my long review a read as I wrote it with that in mind. I won't get into the nitty gritty but I'll offer some info that I really wanted before walking in. I am working hard to lose weight and just overall increase my health so I sought out the services of Lavage, who on top of having amazing reviews also had a groupon offer (so check out groupon!). They have an open system, which was the only requirement I knew to make based off of my research. They also offer a free spa treatment for new customers AND easy online booking, so I was in love before I even arrived. TIP: it's not clear when booking, just book yourself your spa treatment and then your colonic 30-40min after. Put in the notes you're a new customer, and you're set. Lucinda is a marvel. She is so gentle and caring and magically makes you feel very comfortable in this very awkward scenario. She saw I was nervous my first time and gave me cozy booties and a blanket to stay warm and comfortable and some lavender oil at the start and peppermint oil in the end. She checked in here and there to make sure I was okay, explained what I would be feeling, and my second time she gave me privacy as I was experienced and knew what to do at that point. I honestly couldn't ask for a better experience or better care. No one tried to sell me on anyone or push info on me. Lucinda will ask some questions to understand your goals and make some suggestions, but she she didn't push any products or offer any nutritional advice except for when I specifically asked for it. In fact, I was very clear that I am working very hard to lose 40lbs in the next 7 months for my wedding - super easy target to sell cleanses and other products to, and honestly, I probably would have purchased! But she just recommended a probiotic and only mentioned the ones she sells when I specifically asked for a recommendation. In addition to an open colonic system they offer foot baths, bio mat and sauna. I've been there twice now and at my second visit I did the sauna first and it just made things nicer. I definitely recommend it. _______ For those of you who want to do this but are first timers and nervous (as I was) I will share some things I noticed and tips below. What I write below is no longer really review lavage but notes to help any newbies have a better experience. 1. You will not be able to read a book or play on your phone until you've gone quite a few times. There is a process to this whole thing that you learn your first time. 2. Your second+ time going will be way more relaxing and will feel far more beneficial than your first (that's not to say you won't feel great from your first one) 3. If you're just starting out in this kind of care, you should go 3 times, 1x a week in a row. 4. This is not an inactive process - this is what I was most surprised by. I showed up with my book ready to smash some chapters while a magical machine cleaned my insides. NOPE! Lucinda pretty much laughed at me. As I said earlier, there is a process to this and you will be focused on yourself. Perhaps after session 3 or 4 you will be used to it enough to play a game on your phone. 5. You feel kinda of tired at the end, you've just gone through a very intense internal cleansing and it's a big deal to your body and mind. You also may feel a little nauseated (DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOU GO!) but by the time you're dressed and walking out the door you're feeling better, and by the time you get to your car you'll feel like superwoman. The sense of energy and refreshment and overall well being just one session gives you is positively addicting. 6. Do not eat before you go. They say 'snacks are okay', I don't agree. My first time I went on a totally empty stomach, I was a little nauseated at the end, but it went away within 5min and I was ravenous upon leaving. My second time I had my morning protein shake, and I had some acid re-flux and worse nausea. Everyone is different, but I very highly recommend getting the first morning appointment and having nothing but water until you're done. read more

Wow - where to begin!?!? For starters, the place is nestled in a high-rise office building. That said, once inside and down the catacomb hallways to Lavage Wellness Center on the first floor, you close the door to the office suite and are instantly transported to tranquil bliss. Yesterday was my first experience with Lucinda Simpson - and I cannot wait to go back again. Having recently returned to the Denver area, I was looking to resume my routine of colon hydrotherapy and found Lavage online. Having experienced the process in the city where I lived before, I knew what to look for and found it through their website. In fact, Simpson's website is quite detailed about the process, benefits, and misconceptions about colonics, detoxification, and the reasons why people develop digestive issues in the first place. The colonic room was very welcoming and, best of all, so was Lucinda. She explained the process and the open system being used. With the open-basin system, the table on which the client rests has a basin set into it. The equipment is plumbed to the sewer system from the bottom of the basin, much like a toilet. The client's hips are at the edge of the basin so intestinal waste may fall easily into it, hence the term "open-system". Water comes from a gravity tank or a pressure system set in an upper cabinet at the foot of the table. She uses filtered water. Five gallons of liquid later, the use of a tummy massager, and the gentle warmth of a hot compress on my stomach, I felt tremendous relief (no pun intended) of the stagnant and toxic build-up inside my body. (Yes, you do feel like you've lost weight!) If you've never experienced colonic hydrotherapy, no matter what city you are in, I encourage you to give it a try. It relieves a lot of intestinal problems, including bloating and constipation. The Standard American Diet (SAD) wrecks havoc on the GI tract and I know I have had numerous issues without yearly cleanses, being careful of what I eat, making time to exercise, and staying hydrated. When old habits are hard to break, I know when it's time to get help. And laxative teas and senna pills can only help so much. After a colonic, you'll want to be more mindful of your body. After this session, and continuing on throughout the rest of the day, I felt "lighter" - not just physically, but mentally as well. I could think more clearly and did not feel as stressed as before. Without going into the details of my colonic session, what I can tell you is that Lucinda is a nice lady, very professional, and extremely respectful. Her office is very relaxing and clean. I came away with confidence knowing that I will see her again and look forward to it. The price for my first session was $85 - a fee that is quite reasonable. I bought 3 Groupons, and gifted them. I received a call while the session was going on with the person that I gifted to, stating that I didn't read the fine print, and that you can only buy 1. I'm very grateful for Lucinda and Lavage Wellness Center. My experience is that she has created an optimal environment to retreat to for a several hour healing/therapeutic service. I went to her a couple of years ago for my first colon hydrotherapy session. It was, and is, I would say, the very best alternative I have found to actual healing experiences I've had in the Hawaiian islands. A combination of a low carb diet and a prescription stomach acid blocker had me looking for a "nuclear option" to get me moving again so to speak. I had heard about colonics for years on the Howard Stern show as his side kick engaged in them and touted the benefits. Groupons have everything now a days and sure enough after a search I chose Lavage due to it being the closest option to my house and reading some of the reviews on it. The office is in one of those office complex's that is so large it has sections A, B, C....The office for Lavage is in section A which was under construction so I had to enter in the entrance to B but it was easy to navigate. The entry is small but comfortable and at my appointment time I was greeted by Lucinda and brought back to the room. The room was welcoming and after a chat about what brought me here, etc....I was provided with instructions to get me going. Being my first time I was nervous and unsure of a few things but was made very comfortable by Lucinda. After a uneasy start, things did move (no pun intended). I'm not sure how long I was in there but I was checked on at times and offered a warm pillow and a massager to help. Everything was very clean and any unease I had in the beginning was gone after a few minutes. When I was finished we spoke about nutritional supplement options and the benefits of regular visits. I chose not to purchase additional visits at this time, however I can see myself coming back in the future. I did enjoy the expertise by the staff member and could have sat there even longer looking at and discussing the various supplements.
